Funny how scalpers make many, many times more on figures than the company that creates the them. Hasbro loves leaving money sitting on the table, apparently. That's usually considered poor business strategy. We live in an age of buying stuff online... anyone who wants these should be able to order them at normal price.

I think the description the ebay listing says this, possibly to boost bidding. It has been said on here in other threads that a reliable source has said they are going to show up at the dollar general/family dollar type of store.

Here's what we know so far:
These will be released at Family Dollar/Dollar General stores, following Hasbro's format (ie - Transformers, Marvel Universe). The figures will be $6 (or so that's what we've been told).
The first ones we saw - Ninja Force SS, Paintball SE, etc, are the first wave. The repaints are the second wave. If some of you can recall, its basically the same thing we saw with VvsV single carded figures years ago.
Since they are in Manila now, I'd say it's a good bet to start checking DG/FD stores somewhere around May.

That, my friend, would be tough to say. I'm not familiar with the discount style stores in the SoCal area (other than ROSS, lol). Do you by chance have any "Dollar Store" chains in your area? Something with at least 10 stores. I'd say to check there.
As DESTRO and I have realized for ourselves, you can find Joes in the most obscure places (like discount clothing stores such as ROSS and Bealls Outlet). Definitely check out any discount retailer in your area. Good luck!

Don't forget grocery store chains like Kroger, Fred Meyers, Frys, etc. (ironically those are all Kroger owned/operated these days).
And then there's... the dreaded corner pharmacy chains (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) that will jack the prices but still be a possible spot to hunt.
I'll be very curious to see if the grocery stores pick up on this. I couldn't find barely anything from waves 3 & 4 of the 30th line in WalMart/TRU/Target but they were all over here in AZ at Frys. A few dollars lower in price-point than the big box stores, at that!
Should be an interesting Summer for retail Joe hunting...

Big Lots and TJ Maxx had the VvV discount store exclusives, so that's where I plan on checking. There is no Dollar General in California.
Also, it looks like there are some Family Dollar's in SoCal, and I've seen some people mention that as a possibility.

(14) Dollar General Stores: ZERO 3 3/4 inch Joes. HUNDREDS of Combat Hero single packs
(9) Family Dollar: ZERO 3 3/4 Joes. I spoke to the store manager at each Family Dollar and was told at all 9 that they DO NOT and WILL NOT carry GI Joe at Family Dollar. I asked why are they so matter a fact about NOT carrying GI JOE. Each store manager just replied back We Will NEVER carry GI Joe toys.
So for at least these 9 Family Dollar stores by me have an ANTI GI Joe policy. Not sure for the rest of FD stores across the US.

All of the Family Dollar stores here had a bunch of the 25th carded figures back in....2009 I think it was? I scored tons of BATs during that brief month or so they had them in stock. Funny thing is they completely sold out of those 25th Joes in a month or less, every one of them even the Barbeques & Battle Armor Cobra Commanders!

Unless they have recently changed, Dollar Tree is different in that everything in store actually cost $1. So the Joes wouldn't show up there. The only national toyline I've seen in a Dollar Tree is the Prince of Persia line after it had hit every discount store in the country! So not likely to find Joes there.

Just remember that at Dollar General and Family Dollar the store managers have no idea what comes on the trucks when shipments come in. I bet half of them have no idea what GIJoe figures are. There were some in my area that i had called to ask (back when the 25th Anniversary figures were there) if they had some in stock, they told me no. So i went the next day just to check and of course there were a bunch of the 25th figures hanging there. So asking the store managers @ Family Dollar and Dollar General is like asking a blind man if he can see something.

They are low cost figures intended for release at dollar stores. Hasbro doesn't need to make press releases for this kind of thing. If everyone could use some patience, they'll find these for a few dollars a piece within a few weeks. I still don't know why people pay such a premium rather than waiting. spending the extra money gives them the security that they will have these figures. Most folks that bid on this auction will still buy plenty at retail.
Instead, they support skimmers to have it first.
Price skimming is a strategy used by marketers to maximize profit through a series of price changes. I hardly think Hasbro is involved in this initial price point.

What a stupid comment... Most successful people that make a lot of money and stay successful don't blow their money. They will wait and buy something at expected retail prices. Those that do blow their money won't be successful long. People can do what they want with their money, more power to them, but to Brock and myself to spend $25 a piece + shipping on figures that will probably be around $5 or $6 a piece is ridiculous.

There are people on this board that have yet to see a Lowlight, Rock Viper, or Jungle Bat in person. Need I mention Alpine or the unfortunate, unfinished, Mass Devices in peoples collections? People want, what they want. Sometimes waiting retail and low prices isn't what they want.

Your opinion is cool but in mine it's wrong.
Oh believe me, I caught "some of us." Again, stupid comment to brag that you have money to pay 4x the amount these will most likely cost at retail. If you want to do it, go for it, we have the liberty to do what we want with our money. However, that doesn't mean I think it is smart.

$155.00 or more for 6 Dollar Store figures??? Why not wait? There are tons and tons of Dollar Stores in one small city alone. Jeez I have over a dozen of those stores within a 15 mile radius of my house. So I really doubt these will be hard to find. Therefore I can't imagine spending that amount on those figures.

No, Odi, it was not subjective, it was based on objectiveness. Spending 4x more than figures that will most likely be easily found (just need to wait a little while to find out) does not equal smart. Paying a couple dollars more than what they will be at retail and not spending gas driving to get them = smart.

People pay a premium for such figures because they sometimes get cancelled or changed before being released. It is a gamble though; if the figures hit retail unchanged your prerelease figure goes to the same price as those, but major changes/cancellations can make the figure worth many times the premium price.
I suspect the price on these will go down eventually even if they never make it to the US because there were a lot of them released in the Phillipenes. However also for that reason, I suspect these will hit retail at some point in the very new future (these are fully-packaged production figures here, not test shots or prototypes). I'm curious to know when the variant wave shows up though..

Brock Sampson. You seem to just jump around from thread to thread bashing gi Joe collectors who like to buy on eBay. Some of us make enough money that we don't care how much we pay if we want something now. That doesn't make you a moron. We are all Joe collectors on the same team. Take your bitter opinions somewhere else please.
I'm on a forum board and make comments, especially in my local sightings board which is the only other place I've encountered one of your posts in regards to retaliation figures. I see you're a new member and may not know the function of a forum is that people discuss topics which usually involve opinions.
On this topic, my opinion regards someone paying a premium to a reseller for an item that is slated to be in dollar stores with a lower cost than regular big box retailers figures. Even your justification that the satisfaction of having the retaliation figures on ones shelf one month before everyone else by paying almost twice retail is the product of an immature mind. Did bringing the toy with you to work to show off to everyone give you that much satisfaction? At least if you owned a site that did reviews it would make sense if you were expecting more ad revenue for site traffic. I don't even see how my opinions are bitter, they're very matter of fact and based in simple logic.

Jor trooper 9.99 plus 3.50 to ship...moron?
Red ninja 9.99 plus 3.50 to ship. Moron?
They will be at Walmart for 6.97. 9.99+3.50=13.49. Add .50 and tax and you have two figures. These WILL NOT be hard to find at retail since they will be at Target, WM, Toysrus and other big box retailers. If you like spending twice the established price for items, I've got some ocean front property in Kansas I'd like to sell you.

intended does not mean they will arrive
or they will never see them, like most of us never saw PoC waves 4, 5 and 6
Because if they don't show up, the prices will skyrocket.
spending the extra money gives them the security that they will have these figures. Most folks that bid on this auction will still buy plenty at retail.
Price skimming is a strategy used by marketers to maximize profit through a series of price changes. I hardly think Hasbro is involved in this initial price point.
Only time will tell.
Sorry but I disagree with you based off what I have seen in the past. POC wave 4-6 is not a good example. They were not found in the Philippines first. You know what WAS found there first? Cancelled wave 3 alphas and Target deluxe packs. Philippine sellers had them on eBay at the time and highly speculative buyers drove up the prices sky high. Did they hit retail in the US? Check out the Ross thread. You can speculate these will not be released but these aren't unpackaged loose items from China. They are clearly showing up in factory cases in the Philippines. In fact, they don't ship in those white boxes so there could be anywhere from 2-4 of each white box per case.
If the buyer is going to buy plenty at retail, why would they spend 6 times the price (not a little money) for security when they can have six times the figures for the same amount of money?
My comment about skimmers is obviously directed towards resellers, not Hasbro. Buyers are paying those inflated margins to individuals.
I'm looking at the past and it's been a good indicator so far so I think the outcome is fairly predictable.

Your questions have yet to be answered and wouldn't cause a flame war unless people are tired of seeing the same question asked. To answer your question, thought we don't know exact information, they are absolutely coming to the US. The exact when, where and cost are up in the air. I assure you with the number of members here it will be less than 1 hour after the first sighting that we'll see a front page posting of where to find them and how much they cost. A good educated guess is they'll be found at Family Dollar and Dollar General at a cost of $4-5 dollars a piece.
As far as the worth of a Joe in hand, it all depends on how likely a product is to be released. History has shown that factory packaged and boxed products that have made it to other markets in quantity have ALWAYS been available in the states. If you've got money to burn, more power to you.
I treat members on here like friends and I would advise them against the mistake of over paying for something they'll easily find with patience. I've been patient and gotten every single item I wanted without paying more than retail. The worst mistake I ever made was buying two cases of wave 5 vehicles from BBTS for 69.99. I ended up finding all of them at ROSS for 8.99 a piece while the others sat in my pile of loot waiting to ship. I tried getting BBTS to reabsorb the cases at my cost long after they sold out. They wanted me to take a loss so they could make a profit when I could resell them for a profit...

Yeah, I'm really excited for these figures. The chance to get "officer" Cobra Troopers is awesome. I would like as many as I can find. Plus the Storm Shadow and the Snake-Eyes are versions that I remember very vividly from my childhood, so I'm pumped.
One point that I would appreciate if someone could clarify:
Is there going to be a second wave (i.e. the pics we've seen of altnernate paint jobs), or are their variant figures with different paint? If someone could explain it, I would really appreciate it.
Also, the fact that we're seeing them packaged doesn't prove they'll be released: Night Force Falcon. I'm not trying to be a pessimist, I just don't like to count my Joes before they "hatch".

I'd pay about $12 a piece to get a set of these b/c I really like the figures. I want extra and I would need to get those at closer to retail. I don't really have a dollar store that is easy access and my wife travels quite a bit for work so I have to do the dad thing. So I hope these do become abundant - i'll pay a little extra on ebay to get them.
I saw some Marvel Universe figures (A standard Thor figure, no reduced articulation) in a local Family Dollar here for $8 a piece. That's the first time I've ever been in one of those stores. It kind of reminds me of walking into a Woolworth's 25 years ago...except not as nice.

I have gone to several of both over the past 2 weeks. Most stores dotn have a clue about it. I am not expecting them to knwo much anyway, its not liek each location is ordering these specifically to have on hand like normal retail. Out of the 10 or so Family Dollars I have hit, they have been extremly spotty een with these newer MU figures they are carryign at 8$ a pice and then the crappy unarticualted ones at $6 a piece. Some stores are touting a WWE 3 3/4 Line on generic cards as well as the nomral transformers. The guys auction says they are not being released to full retail in th ephillipines as well so I dunno what that tells us whethers tahts true or not (how many sets have been bought over there does anyone know or willing to say?). They have all sorts of "New Item" tags up for th emarvel figures and th etransformer little legend size figures at every store (dollar generals) I been too. So they coul dget tehse any day.
There really is no garuntees on these.

i went dollar general and they told me that they will not get them
at my dollar general
I doubt they would know or care if they were getting them. They probably have no idea what you were even talking about.

As far as I know, or from what I've seen here on the tank, no one knows for sure. I checked a FD store yesterday, but there was nothing. I didnt bother asking an employee, either.

i like this, this seller starts the bids at $30 with a $60 shipping cost:
Dollar Store Exclusive G. I. Joe 2012 mint sealed condition! - Storm Shadow | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dollar-Store-Exclusive-G-I-Joe-2012-mint-sealed-condition-Storm-Shadow-/130688694284?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item1e6da7380c#ht_670wt_1267)
oh, that is for 1 figure

The Filipino sellers are having a field day with these. As hard as these will be to find (potentially) at retail, I'm not willing to spend $150 or more on six figures. I'll take my chances at Dollar General...

these needs to be re lease again in a different package. so why would they have figures at dollar store anyway? i went to a dollar tree and didn't see any. they don't make them anymore?

No. Because everything at Dollar Tree cost $1. These will not be sold for $1.

We don't know, friend. These have not been released in the US yet and our beliefs that they're "dollar store exclusives" (Family Dollar, Dollar General) is still speculation.

Or maybe even Biglots, they have carried Joes in the past, and my local one has buttloads of those MARS troopers.

What's the name of the store that the people overseas are getting them? Are they international dollar stores or what?
