Really nice figure with a cool head sculpt, excellent detailing on the body and great accessories, but the hood (which is pretty much how we identify the character) is awful and totally ruins it. No way cloth can mimic the right look at that scale, so I think it should have been moulded in soft rubber of some kind.

For that price I would have been pissed with anything other than a cloth hood. Still think they should have offered some kind of color change, even if it was just the chest/leg pads turning blue.

But think the hood is simply too large. A little smaller mike have looked better.

yea, everyone spoke about how amazing Zartan was, yet mostly all the auctions are for the exclusive. All the Rock N Roll's are the non-exclusive version. is it because they like the figure more, or they think they can make a killing on eBay by charging a ridiculous price?

in the long run, the Exclusive Zartan will be much more sought-after IMO

Yeah I am suprised to some extent given all the nok love that is thrown around here, but I guess not everyone can play with the big kids toys :)

I hate the noks but Zartan in this look and design is beyond awesome.

just got mine in. easily one of the top sideshow figures.
but i dont like how they are getting taller and taller.
first it was viper that was slightly taller than the rest, but now zartan seems like a giant compared to the rest of the figures on the shelf.

I keep my Z siblings from the 80's in a fairly climate controlled environment, so no issues with their skin as of yet...the color change zartan they put out with the 25th stuff had a green face since I bought him, they used some paint instead of making it color change plastic, so it sucks...

...I'm not paying anything for it...I got bills...now, if they can make this stuff more reasonably priced, I'd be totally down...If I bought it for 160 I'd feel like I was supporting someone's drug habit, and since it's not my own, that's not cool...hell for 160 I can get both of the BBTS Nok and Marauder 7 packs and both Resolute 7 packs including shipping, that's 28 figures, and it's probably what I'm going to pick up when I can afford to...honestly 50 to 60 is the most I'd shell out for a 12" GI Joe doll of any quality, and then I would probably still pick and choose (probably still wouldn't buy troop builders in multiples as I do with 3 1/4")...

I think their take on the movie characters would be very impressive, considering their lines are almost always quite impressive. Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes would be a great start in my opinion. Here's hoping they get the rights do produce this line!

Oh, this will sell out sooner than you guys think. Even without the Duke head, it's an awesome figure. Possibly Sideshow's best so far.

Hot Toys stuff sells out fairly quickly and honestly... I think Sideshow's approaching HT quality with this release. Your average GI Joe collector might be cheap, but 12" collectors are not. And I think that once this does sell out, you'll be looking at double the price on Ebay, so if you're on the fence now, don't wait too long...

I notice my Zartan is fairly top-heavy. Not an issue since I have him on his figure stand. But it worries me if I decide to get an environment down the road or [God willing] his swamp skier.

Since I'm a Sideshow virgin, is it normal for the figures to be top-heavy like that?

Just put that bow back in the box, its to delicate, the arrows won't even stay on mine, and when I get one to hold it looks all bent out of shape and wierd, and yeah the string will tangle up if you're not careful. Cool accessory, but not worth the hassel of screwing it up or breaking it.

be gentle with these accessories...they tend to be quite fragile (and expensive to re-buy).

Yeah, you cant press the arrows down into the holders all the way and they seem to work out ok wihtout looking all bent. just dont bump him around and expect em to stay on perfectly. Mine holds his bow down at his side so the arrows rest agaisnt him...like others said great item...dont mess it up!

As long as you don't put too much light on its not bad, but in a cameras flash..its really really too red compared to his pants...I think it should have been the same maroon as the pants, not candy apple vibrant red neon...

I'm using the Hot Toys Barney Ross body. Hood was cut from a Sideshow Jedi Robe died and wired to bend to shape. I also exchanged the chin guards with the Cobra Viper ones (just the chin guards). Some painting and weathering here and there and that's it.:wink1:

So I finally bit the bullet and purchased my first sideshow figure. I'm so glad I did. This guy is amazing.
Probably shouldn't have started with Zartan, I feel like I've spoiled myself for the rest.

I'll probably just stick to collecting Cobras but fear I'll never be able to get my hands on Firefly. Refuse to pay $400 on eBay.

Zartan is my favourite Sideshow figure, he is absolutey bad ass. Keep looking on ebay, I've seen Fireflys for sale at reasonable prices. Keep your eyes peeled, they are out there...

I almost bought him on Friday, however my wife's birthday is Wednesday so my spare cash went toward her gift. I did debate getting Zartan for her but I'm not sure how well that would have went.
As for Firefly, I paid 140 for him about 8 months ago off of ebay. I recently traded him to Ultra8294 for some cash and a desert Trooper. Funny thing is I had him up for sale for 175 for months and nobody wanted him.

I just bought Zartan, he is officially my first Sideshow 12" Joe (though I bought SS Duke's head first..). I didn't really need the exclusive version, but that evil Duke head is awesome. I'm going to get a TTM19 body for him and use the body he came with for my Duke bash. I couldn't pass up Zartan knowing that there are some essential Cobra guys coming out in the future. SS has really come a long with their Joes in the last few years.
