Ok, so here's my deal... I recently acquired an Ultimate Soldier UH-1C Huey Hog Head II from eBay, and I plan on using it for a custom. My problem is, I received it assembled... I'm wanting to take the mounts for the rocket pods off of the fuselage, but seeing as how these things are as expensive as a bad used car, and of course made of that super thin plastic that Ultimate Soldier is known for using, I don't want to break anything. I've seen a couple of customs using these, and was wondering if anybody could chime in with the best way to take one of these apart without destroying it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

The M156 universal mounts just pull off. I'm well along on a repaint of one of mine.
After that it's really just getting the screw plugs off and pulling screws.
You're gonna have to pop a plastic retaining piece to get the cabin doors off, but the glue/plastic welding 21st used is fairly cheap and they should pop off and remain completely reusable.

I have 3 that I bought all new at Toys R Us and they all came put together. My only real complaint is that it was a C model gunship with out guns on it. I would buy the hell out of the Slick models I think they were B and D. With the two windows on the side doors and they held more troops and they had the side seat for the door gunners.

B's were short bodies.
Nothing wrong with door gunner's on Charlies. THey really didn't make them roomy enough inside, but I can pack half-a-dozen Joes in the back.

Ok, thanks for the help guys. Do the mounts pull out from the bottom or from the side? Since they sit on the bottom edge I didn't really know which direction to pull them from.
I too wish they had made some UH-1D's. I'm wanting to make this a slick when it needs to be and a gunship when I need that instead, so my mod is basically just a repaint. I'm not liking how the gunner fits in the cabin though. It seems like the back wall of the cabin is too far back. I thought on the C's the gunner sat on the side of the bench. Maybe I'm looking at my reference photos wrong, but it seems like the bench is too far back in the cabin. Having a hard time trying to figure out how to get door gunners in there.

If you look at the Huey from the bottom you're seeing the bottom prong of a two-prong fork. Hold on and I'll get you a pic of the mount out.
The firewall is back too far. I sit my Lady Jaye in the door sitting on a Unimax MRE case.
EDIT:
eeew, schmutz on my camo.
