Looking good so far! Love the accent the blue/white sweater adds in to it. Also looks as if the pants have a red stripe going down them as well. The web gear also looks fantastic.

Despite my rabid demand for accuracy (which I knew of course the club can't achieve), I like this one. A while back I was thinking they might use those legs for him even though the pants are long instead of tucked in the boots. The leg pads are pretty accurate. The web gear strangely works. They could have gone with the gun from the 25th red star (which was comic accurate for stormavik). So, I don't get the modern rifles, especially since these guys died in special mission 26 which was in 1989.

I love the Brekhov comes with Renegades Firefly's AK. Maybe Horror Show will come with the grenade launcher? I'd love to get both of those weapons in black (rather than the awful gray the club weapons have been coming in for the past few years).

With the con set and the FSS I would have to say the the GJCC is doing a better job than Hasbro this year as far as figure design, concept and execution go.

The head and chest are spot on perfect. The arms and legs are not the greatest choice, but good enough. Overall a great looking figure.

I've flip-flopped again. Now I'm going to spend my money on the FFS as opposed to this set. Still want OG in ME form, but characters like Cover Girl, Big Boa, Top Side and even TNT (to complete my South American Joes) are just more 'essential' for me.

Also, there's a slim chance some sets will last a few months beyond the con when I have more money.

I hope the use the HD body for Horror Show instead of the Bazooka torso they used for Red Dog. But if they use the CP Horror Show head like they have for some of these already.. I'm afraid it will be too small on any big torso. Guess we will see in time.

Actually, now that I go back and look at some pictures of Stormavik, those arms and legs aren't bad. The web gear looks spot on too. I'd like to see the knee pads painted, but man, he does look good.

Stormavik was a pin-head in the comic packs too, and while he looks kinda small, the head itself looks bigger than the comic pack version on the vintage Red Star body. I imagine in the retooling process, they're pantographing them up in size as well as modifying the neck for the new articulation.

Now that I'm looking again at it, the shoulder pads are terrible and they should definately have painted the knee pads brown, I mean, the knee pads are the only reason to use those legs and it makes no sense to leave them the pant color rather than brown like in the comics.

Everyone knows that. The original six (Dragonsky and Horrorshow are next). There are a total of 12 OGs though. I don't see them making the other 6 as Stomavik was the wild card as his Russian Job Fuction for the Oktober Guard was a Para-Trooper. If he was to be that, then they would have filled Stormavik's spot with one of the other six (Big Bear, Red Star [we already have him], Lt. Gorky, Ruslan, Sgt. Misha & Wong).

It is possible that they will do a Ruslan, Sgt. Misha & Wong 3-Pack and a Big Bear & Lt. Gorky 2-Pack.

NOTE: Big Bear is a paratrooper as well. - Is he a parachute worthy figure?

The club produces (as in finances the set and the club chooses the parts unto which is available to them by Hasbro), however they are made in the Hasbro factories in Asia and signed off by Hasbro. Also, since the club produced these, Hasbro cannot use the same parts and characters likeness to recreate these again until that specific time frame is up under the set contract, I believe.

When the club comes up with the set ideas and Hasbro approves of it.. they are basically endorsing the set and the figures.. thus meaning as far as they are concerned, they are official Hasbro products and will not ever reproduce them for general retail.

Aside from the head, are there good already sculpted parts for a Voltar? Would the armored CC torso work?

I love the no frills military approach of the Oktober Guard and this set is right up my alley. I'll keep the box set opposing faction for completist sake, but my second bagged set will be open for trades if it's the IG.

They could do something special for the Iron Grenadier Troopers like the following with little parts:

b. Jet Pack Iron Grenadier

I'm pretty sure he meant it was the same figure, repainted. Just like the Flint figure from 2010.

If the other faction is the IGs, my guess is that the troop builder will come from the cancelled TRU pack, and not something new like Target or Annihilator.

I think the AGP should totally still be available. Maybe they'll just make it a different color from the 2005 version (which I love). What about the DEMON and a modern era Ferret to drive it? I'd love that, the Evader, Razorback, or Dominator too.

As for figures, I'd love to see an ME Annihilator, TARGAT, Undertow, or the awesome Iron Anvils from the 2005 set too.

It's not the Viper arms. They are the POC Moneybags Destro / Iron Grenadiers arms. Originally I thought they were also used on Arctic Destro, but the lower arms are different on that one.

well we got an update finally but I gotta say out of the ones we've seen so far, Stormavik is the least impressive to me. those lower arms look horrendous. Hopefully we will see Horrowshow and the last OG figure soon as well as finally get to see who the enemy faction is going to be.

Hello Folks, it time again for my breakdown of the parts used for Stormavik.

So once again, I had to take a step back and let everything soak in with this construction. Granted, he is not an exact representation of the comic version, more of a updated uniform like what we have seen with the POC and 30th anv line. With that said here is the break down:

Head - Stormavik comic pack head retooled
Torso - ROC Sgt. Stone
Arms - POC Amored Destro (Moneybags)/ POC Iron Grenadier
Legs - POC Shadow Tracker
Web Gear - POC Jungle Duke
Gun 1 - 2005 DTC Snow Serpent (Tracked down by Trigue)
Gun 2 - POC Beach Head
Backpack - (not shown)

So of all the parts, the gun he is holding has got me stumped. If anyone knows where it comes from, chime in and I will update the list. Edit: the weapon has been identified by Trigue, thanks. A couple of notes, I am surprized that they did not paint the knee pads. Maybe this is a paint sample and they caught it and fixed it before the con. Between convention figures and Subscription figures I would be half way to a Flagg! I think Im going to do customs of the Oktober Guard nix plans on the sub figs and get me a new Flagg...you know the one thing Hasbro will never make again.

I feel ya. I started to aquire USS Flagg parts now with the intent to build a modified version of the USS Flagg. I like to think that it is an upgrade version after the last one sank by Cobra (in reallity, I sold my first one years ago). I am taking the time to document these parts listings for anyone who wants to custom build thier own Oktober Guard or make changes to the parts layout for thier versions. As you can see, not everyone agrees with the part selections, but at least everyone know what was used and I am sure casts of these heads will make thier way around the community.

I think the AGP should totally still be available. Maybe they'll just make it a different color from the 2005 version (which I love). What about the DEMON and a modern era Ferret to drive it? I'd love that, the Evader, Razorback, or Dominator too.

interestingly enough, I have asked that question on more than one ocasion, and never get a straight answer.

ROC Rhino and the Night ops humvee/ Hulkbuster vehicle proves SOME VvV tooling still exists... (definetly the DTC ones)

where or not spytroops vehicles like the night attack chopper (would make a good "Hind") ringneck, or other vehicles still exist,.. no one will answer that.

I'm not sure what to think if this set doesn't have Horror Show. Granted, he wasn't part of the team later on, but his character is basically the same throughout the run - including his appearance in Sunbow. I do hope that this is just a blip and the final OG member is Horror Show. To make him an exclusive for the show or not made at all would be a terrible error.

Only Gorky works when you plug in the URL with the various OG codenames, not horrorshow, not dragonsky, not misha. Con Exclusives won't be revealed until the first day of the Convention, and if they were set up already, more of the URLs would work. We're getting 6 Guardsmen in the Boxed set, and another faction to be revealed.

Signs point to the next reveal being set up with the URL con12oggorky, or else it's an elaborate hoax to try and thwart hackers that figured out the pattern. It's not likely at all that this is the only page set up for non-box set figures that won't be revealed for another month+, while pages for Box set figures haven't been created yet.

Yearbook 2 covered the era from Issue 25 - 43ish. It's meant to take place somewhere in the late 30s/early 40s of the comic run, based on the Joes on scene at the end of the issue (which was, at that point, the entire Joe team). New folk like Quick Kick, Bazooka, and Shipwreck had not been introduced yet. In fact, continuity-wise, it might need to take place as early as issue #33, for the fact that Recondo is among them, and in Issue 39, he's said to have spent a couple of weeks at the PIT before being deployed to Sierra Gordo (to set up the rescue of Dr. Burkhart #2)

The original Guard didn't fall in Sierra Gordo until SM 26 and GIJoe #92. More like 50+ issues of time, and 75 issues of actual prined comics where Dragosky was an accepted member of the Oktober Guard and counted as part of their team.

I reckon we might well be seeing Black Dragons re-painted as F.A.N.G. II's, and the Cobra Jet Packs -

Only Gorky works when you plug in the URL with the various OG codenames, not horrorshow, not dragonsky, not misha. Con Exclusives won't be revealed until the first day of the Convention, and if they were set up already, more of the URLs would work. We're getting 6 Guardsmen in the Boxed set, and another faction to be revealed.

Signs point to the next reveal being set up with the URL con12oggorky, or else it's an elaborate hoax to try and thwart hackers that figured out the pattern. It's not likely at all that this is the only page set up for non-box set figures that won't be revealed for another month+, while pages for Box set figures haven't been created yet.





Yearbook 2 covered the era from Issue 25 - 43ish. It's meant to take place somewhere in the late 30s/early 40s of the comic run, based on the Joes on scene at the end of the issue (which was, at that point, the entire Joe team). New folk like Quick Kick, Bazooka, and Shipwreck had not been introduced yet. In fact, continuity-wise, it might need to take place as early as issue #33, for the fact that Recondo is among them, and in Issue 39, he's said to have spent a couple of weeks at the PIT before being deployed to Sierra Gordo (to set up the rescue of Dr. Burkhart #2)

The original Guard didn't fall in Sierra Gordo until SM 26 and GIJoe #92. More like 50+ issues of time, and 75 issues of actual prined comics where Dragosky was an accepted member of the Oktober Guard and counted as part of their team.

There is no denial here. I love your attempt though. I was just offering a solution. I know very well on how the club works. I have been to the cons so I know how that works too. URLs mean nothing to this point until they officially enter in the info. Also, I am pretty sure the club has their info done and ready to show once they set it to go live. It is not like they are setting up each figure the day of and taking picture of them that day and creating an URL the day that they release the figure reveal. They have it all ready to go in advance just waiting for it to go live when they decide to do it. That Gorky url is not official as it states hacker all of over it. I am on record and have stated the fact that it will be the 6 original members for quite some time and that the remaining 4 spots in the boxset are either friendly or foe. Need proof, here are examples of topics created by me within the last few weeks.

Yeah, I honestly don't understand the point of it. I mean I know suspense and prolonged interest are worth something but ultimately, people are making their decision of whether or not to attend this show largely based on the exclusives. The sooner they just get it out there and get people wanting them, the higher the likelihood those people will wish to attend. Regardless, we will still have at minimum 3 more "surprise" figures, so it's not like getting the contents of the box set out there right now is going to ruin all the fun.

I hope that it does not mean that there will be only one 4-inch reveal (Tuesdays) followed by only one 12-inch reveal (Thursdays) each week now until they are all shown.

Which was completely squandered with all the issues afterwards. Not to mention the leaked list ended up being on the money the entire time so the reveals were more for seeing what they looked like than anything.

I had a professional come in and overhaul one of my sites which easily dwarfs the Club's in size and needs. And it was still done in less time than it's taking them here to do any one thing. Just one person re-writing all the code, redesigning the entire layout, upgrading the forums, etc. in addition to their other clients.

for me it's not the sign up period, but the program. It's tough to need to book off the full length of the convention, and it would be nice to know what events are happening and on what days. Truth be told every Joe Con I have been to I can feel finished with in a day, but I'd rather not waste close to a week's worth of vacation time just to get that one day secured. Likewise with plane tickets/ hotel reservations.. if I knew everything I wanted to see/ do was happening on Saturday I could plan accordingly to be there Saturday. As it stands now, I have to keep Wed through Sunday totally free because I have no idea what the Club is planning and when it will take place.

Unless you're going to tour the cemetary, take the paddleboat and haunted house tours, hit the casino, the zoo (you'll have to take the bus to reach it and back), and the aquarium... there isn't much to do down there besides eat & drink in the French Quarter.

I haven't followed this thread, so maybe it's been mentioned, but not knowing the convention schedule is par for the course with these types of events. The San Diego Comic-Con schedule, e.g., comes out about two weeks before the start of the convention, four months after tickets have long sold out.

Insectarium is on the other side of the rail tracks next to the aquarium. And the bus is still faster to the zoo if you want to skip the insects. An Iron Anvil would be a cool Paradrop figure but I really think it is going to be Big Bear as that is his specialty along with Stormavik. Plus, they had a picture of a Big Russian Bear up as a placeholder until they put up the official boxset image of the Hammer & Sickle.

Think about it, there's going to be nine figures that aren't Oktober Guard and four slots for them. The club has never had less then six of an army builder in the box set, so 9 - 6 = 3. In other words, three named characters and six army builders. The only way I could see two army builders is if they break with tradition and give four of one and two of the other.

I'm hoping for Darklon, Voltar, and Metal Head with six of the long coat IGs. That would be sweet.

4. X6 Iron Grenadier Troopers

They could do something special for the Iron Grenadier Troopers like the following with little parts:
a. X2 Flame Thrower Iron Genadier
b. X4 Jet Pack Iron Grenadier

Right, I meant that the main army builder in the set hasn't been less then six. There has always been at least six of one of the characters.

No, but whatever the other team is, it needs an army builder. Thought they could throw a curve ball and give us Tiger Force Steel Brigade. That would actually be kind of cool.
