I like the Con set so far- the only question for me is when will registration begin?
Are we going to have to wait until after the set is completely revealed? The Club announced there would be a reveal about every other day which would put registration about 3 weeks out...

my guess is 1-2 weeks for registration.

I also think they'll show a couple more action figures before registration goes up. I'd like it to be as soon as possible but at least the ball is rolling now.

And I bought, at long last, the Duke/Red Star comic pack the other day. Red Star's lovely, lots of gear, and the Duke works well as Just Another Greenshirt if you give him a different head.

I still need to dig out my Russian helicopter I got from Target many moons ago, though. Probably will later this week since I'm on leave and one of my vacation goals is to get my accessories re-organized.

That is my thinking too. Botcon is about to start in a few days so, the Club will be busy and unavailable until after that.

Superb! He looks a little short by the angle they shot him at but Shrage will be MINE!! I love this real drab military look!

isn't he a little short for a stormtrooper?

GI Joe Eternal

Both of these look really good.

Seriously, how many of us have dusted off that ol' Red Star figure in the last few days?

Other than using a hat or two for Adm. Keel Haul custom fodder, I've never paid much attention to that Red Star figure until now. Can't wait for this set!!!

Ok folks, Here is the parts breakdown for those who want to know:

* Head - retooled comic pack Schrage
* Torso - ROC Pit Commando
* Upper Legs - ROC Pit Commando
* Lower Legs - Red Star
* Upper Arms - ROC Pit Commando
* Lower Arms - POC Snow Job
* Web Gear - Red Star
* AK-47 - Red Star
* Sachel - Red Star
* Machine Gun - POC Jungle Duke
* Backpack - (No image)

For those who have posted the size of the legs/ figure hight, the thighs of Red Star are longer than the Pitt Commando. The Pitt Commando's calfs are longer than Red Star. So this would make the figure shorter, but just slightly.

It looks like it will be just the original 6 Oktober Guard Members verse another faction. They do have 4 other spaces. I am thinking that it may be 2 Cobra main Characters with an Officer and 6 Troop Builders if it is against an enemy at all. It could just be a teamup of OG and the Joes like the Comics and in the Cartoon.

 Brekhov
 Daina
 Dragonsky
 Horrorshow
 Schrage
 Stormavik

Well it does say "vs." so I guess it will be an enemy to them at least.

With there being four reveals other then the six Oktober Guard, I'm guessing there will be three individual characters, and six of one army builder.
If it really is the IG's, then I would guess the three would be Voltar, Darklon, and either a Destro or Baroness in IG colors. The army builder would probably be one of the IG's with skirts that were in that cancelled TRU pack.

another yearbook#2 inspiration except for his uniform on the back cover of it is color green. I've seen this guy as a comic book pack that he is about close to comic book appearance by marvel when he and the OG members made their first appearance in gi joe comic book. this schrage figure looks good and look same as he was in the yearbook series as well as the special missions even the figure uniform is not green anyway I'm not worry about the color of the uniform.

Will there be any reveals for today?

If we're good little buys and girls... maybe. But probably not. They're going to lead us along by the nose for a while. Also, this week is BotCon and the company may have their hands full getting through the event.

But damn, I hope they left one little monkey at home to push "enter" every night this week. I'd buy the set sight-unseen after these two reveals, but damn it I want MORE!!!!

While I would sing high their praises, I doubt this would be the case. The club doesn't get much into Sunbow (big sad face there) and the fact that the two reveals are very much not cartoon-y makes me think this wouldn't happen. But it sure would be cool.

Will there be any reveals for today?

I think they said on Facebook that they were going to do a reveal every other day. So I would expect the next one tomorrow.

They've definitely quickened the pace, given the late date for the reveals.

I understand Botcon is underway and the staff of FUN Publications is 'out of the office' for the duration of the event but, the GIJCC moderator on Facebook said last week that we would get a new reveal every other day.
We did not get a figure reveal today as scheduled and I wonder what has happened and how much farther out is registration?

In fact, all further Club questions should be referred to their new Q&A guru:

Brekhov looks great.

Also, keep in mind for the set, if we do in fact not see Stormavik in this initial set of 6 reveals for the Oktober Guard, I think that we will see the whole team of Oktober Guardsmen. Stormavik will then be the Parachute Drop figure as he is a qualified airborne trooper for the Russian Army. If so, that means that it will be a great chance that we get Big Bear, Lt. Gorky, Red Star, Ruslan, Sgt. Misha, & Wong as one of those will replace him.

Lanny's always been awesome when I've had the opportunity to hob-nob.

He's the goods, IMO, and I'm not going to complain about Brekhov's minor deviation from "classic" since he, Schrage and Stormavik have such similar uniforms. This gives the leader a separate look, and ROC Destro was so *not* Destro, I'm ok with the mold being co-opted for this set.

I've been thinking this too based on his MOS. I'd be A-okay with that, so long as I get a Stormavik.

It is a bit of a "re-imagining" of Brekhov, but I'm ok with it seeing as though an accurate one would have just been Red Star with a new head. If it really annoys me, I can do a head swap. That will be especially easy if they do put a '91-accurate Red Star into one of the other con offerings.

As a figure, I think it's awesome looking. I always liked that Destro, but I never really had anywhere to put it, so I'm happy to see the body again.

This "brekhov" sucks plain and simple. After the other two great reveals, they slap a new (and especially rediculous) head on roc destro. Give me a break. What's the deal with that wedding cake on his head? If they wanted to go lazy on it, they should have stuck with the 25th red star. Pathetic.

if you actually attend Joecon and sign up to volunteer to throw the figures off the roof, Volunteers get a free para figure...

I do believe the past two years that Boxed Set buyers get one bagged during the Con - I have my one Python ParaTeleviper from last year as an "Officer" for my 4 regular Python Teles. And I was no where near the dropzone until most of the remaining figures were dangling from a 2-story stepback. I did not try climbing.

Maybe I'll volunteer to do the Drop this year.

They just hand it out to you when you pick up your set.

that was just those few years they stopped the drop (Rhode Island you got one with the Hasbro Tour.)

past drops:

Last year (I Threw) https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/208351_10150190948748689_616823688_8459242_7770776 _n.jpg

rhode island drop was unnannounced, and it was for kids only

the dreaded Kansas city drop was thew one with all the fiascos in it, mainly because they advertized the drop, and the general public, scalpers, and people who could give a crap about the club and g.i.joe in general showed up. (somebody brought a kindergarten class!!!) which resulted in grown men snatching toys out from above kids waiting to catch them.

the texas and Atlanta drops were indoors:

if the New Orleans drop is in the same place, its here:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/255091_10150274055573689_616823688_8961560_79_n.jp g https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/248823_10150283778393689_616823688_9068154_116998_ n.jpg

about half the figures ended up on that building behind everyone.. the rest blew past it...

I'm OK with this figure. I will give him the Red Star head since that looks more like the Colonel and the club head looks younger so that will go on red's shoulders. I have an extra red so I may change out the lower legs too. Just add the cuban stogie. Done.

Hello folks,

For those folks who are interested in the parts breakdown, this is what I was able to come up with:

* Head - New Sculpt
* Hat - Indiana Jones Col Dovchenko
* Torso - ROC Destro
* Upper arms - POC Shock Trooper
* Lower Arms - Resolute Duke
* Legs - ROC Destro
* Web Gear - Snake Eyes (Arctic)
* Holster - ROC Destro
* Pistol - (not fully shown) Possible POC Beachhead
* AK-47 with scope - Renegades Firefly
* Assult Rifle - POC Beachhead

Some notes:

This one was a bit harder to figure out. Although the hat sculpt is very simular to Col Dovchenko from the Indy line, it is after all a hat and could have been sculpted for this head. Col Dovchenko head and hat are two pieces glued together, it could be keyed in a way like Gung-Ho's hat and head are or it's sculpted with the intent to be removable but last minute change decided to glue it together. So for right now, I am calling it Col Dovchenko's hat until better picture or reports say otherwise.

With the pistol holstered, it's hard to pin down the exact source. One thing can be said is that it is not the pulse pistol that Destro came with. Edit: Thanks to Xenos, pistol may be part of POC Beachhead weapon set

The AK-47 with scope is another tough one to call. Everything there is from the POC Shock Trooper except for the rear stock, it's missing. I could not find an exact match that uses this tooling without the stock. Could the stock be Photoshopped out of the picture? Edit: Thanks to Xenos, indentification comfermed.

Edit: Upper arms are from the Shock Trooper (thanks to OreoBuilder)

That's all for now, see you all for the next reveal.

I love the first two figures shown so far, nice selection of parts, and some surprizes along the way. With COLONEL BREKHOV, I have to say it took me by surprize, more like a shock and awe effect. The inital reaction was a" WTF!!!" that's not how he looks in the comics. But as someone pointed out, he looks more like a commissar/ field marshal. If that was the intent in bring the character to a more modern look, then I would have just kept the lower arms from ROC Destro figure and kept it as a over coat. I can also see a new Black Major using this body construction too. I tell ya, he is growing on me the more I keep looking at him.

The thing about this figure is that if you took off the tie and rolled up the sleeves, it would pretty much be a perfect representation of him. So, I don't really have a problem with this just being his pre-mission look. And like I said earlier, toss this head on a Red Star body, and it'd be pretty much exactly like the comic.

As far as a cigar goes, I'm guessing that Hasbro would never let the club make a GI Joe that is smoking. You just know that would end up on CNN or something.

I have to agree here, Hasbro had to do the same with a Star Wars Character that smoked in The Attack of the Clones. Dexter I think was his name. They sculpted the piece and last minute removed it from the figure production.

For those that do not know, Last years Parachute drop figure is actually an individual and not a troop builder according to his Filecard. I wish they had at least given him a code-name:

Python Patrol Communications

Code Name: Python Tele-Viper Officer

File Name: Unknown
Primary Military Specialty: Communications
Secondary Military Specialty: Infantry/Parachute Qualified
Birthplace: Unknown

The Python Tele-Viper Officer was once captured on assignment in North America and, upon being freed, was banished to Python Patrol headquarters in Brazil as punishment. His spirit unbroken, he vowed to prove he has what it takes to gain the respect of Cobra Commander, regardless. He has become something of a miricle worker, keeping cutting edge equipment in perfect working condition despite jungle heat and humidity. His secondary goal of cracking the encryption codes of listen g stations right in his own backyard remain elusive, although hd is beginning to suspect it was an impossible side mission designed to keep him busy permanently.

Being signed to such an inhospitable post as the Amazon means he not only has to keep his team at peak efficiency, but also their equipment. This often involves under radar reflective parachutes to drop stealthy into locations his team has secured. This allows him to make emergency repairs, perform surprise inspections, and personally deliver information in case of telecommunications failure, all without breaking stealth protocols. Nevertheless, can he keep his team functioning when G.I. Joe comes and turns them off once and for all?

Ok, I love the head sculpt and the hat, and the choice of weapons is pretty cool. I also really like the figure, but only if we already had a proper field Brehov. This is board meeting KGB Brekhov. So great head sculpt, great hat, great web-gear and accessories, torso choice not so great. Good figure just not a great figure, and definitely NOT what the club should have done for the arms and torso. I am scratching my head a little over this one. :P

If anything, this choice of parts makes me think that somewhere in the mix we are in fact likely to get a "classic-colors" Red Star at the Convention. Because otherwise it would've been too simple just to put this head on the existing tooling used for Red Star to save effort and money, and few people would likely have complained (too much). Plus as noted, if they give us a "classic" Red Star, then you can swap this head onto the comic-pack Red Star for a more "field accurate" Brekhov...best of both worlds.

Anyway, I really dig this construction precisely because it does differentiate him from Red Star. This to me can make him the "Hawk" of the Oktober Guard while Red Star takes the "Duke" role. Really looking forward to seeing how they pull off Horror Show and Dragonsky, because it definitely looks like they're going with the "classic" Oktober Guard lineup.

Also: I'm predicting this set will sell out even faster than last year's....Club woes or not.

In defense of the hat, check out some Russian Mayday parade videos on youtube. Those Russians love rediculously huge officer hats! But I agree with you, I think I would of prefered a Red Star repaint with better arms. I like the figure, it looks good but it just doesn't look like Brekhov. Make for a dang good commisar or something though. I don't which one throws it off more. The tie or the huge colar, or his rank boards on his shoulders sticking up into the air. Change the hat for an old steel pot helmet, paint his pants green and he'd pass for a WWII U.S. Army officer.

I have to give the club credit for making a good figure. Doesn't change my opinion that this is going to be the best set they've ever made. But this figure just is not Brekhov to me.

all they need is clearance from the other department and licence owner. In order to get the exclusive vehicles from the R.I. con, Lucasarts stated that it had to look NOTHING like the originals.

Most recently they used G.I.Joe molds for the Iron Man II Nick Fury.

...it wouldnt be a stretch for the club to use a Lanard retooled mold, considering Lanard used retooled RAH molds.

15 figures, atleast one of them on the list will be a Troop builder, and there will most likely be 6 of them in the box. If they do like last year. Or maybe two will be a troop builder and it'll be split up. But either way it'll be 15 figures in the box set.

Just the box set (and a bagged set if you wanted it) The vehicles and other figure packs, or specialty items aren't part of it. You have to attend to get those unless you're really lucky and they don't sell out. Which is all but impossible.

Initially it is one bagged set pre boxed set ordered, but if they have any left after a while they will open them up for anyone to buy (like they did the 2009 bagged sets). However I suspect this set will sell out even before the show like the MB2 set did.

From the club, you can get the Golden Ticket and with that you can order up to 3 box sets and bagged sets. Most people you see walking out with a lot of box sets probably bought them from other people. That is how I pick up sets for guys on here. And some people just buy the box.. no figures.. so some of the people who multiples may just have empty boxes.

Botcon had it this year. I havn't seen anybody on their boards complaining about it this year but they seemed to have upped the production numbers on the Botcon Exclusives so it's probably not an issue. Hopefully we will get the same treatment on the Joe side.

Every year the club offers a "Homefront Heroes" package that includes the 15 figure box set. You can order it from the comfort of your home and they send it a few weeks after they get back from the convention. It costs the same as signing up for a package to attend.

What does Hasbro have to do with your lack of attending Con? If you are a club member, and if they have any extras they will be for sale.

If they don't, well shit. These are con exclusives. They just happen to sell any leftovers to the general public. So if you don't get one, blame yourself, not Hasbro.

Kids, no one needs to be sad not getting the set because so far, Daina, Shrage and Brekhov don't look comic nor o-ring accurate. I was thinking of getting a set being an Oktober Guard fan but Brekhov with the necktie (Roc Destro mold) ain't my cup of tea.

I'm willing to spend $400 for an Oktober Guard set provided it's 100% comic or o-ring accurate, we deserve it for an astronomical price.

So thank heavens they are not. I'd only pay retail price for the Club's version though. To make it clear to those getting the set, I'm not sad nor bitter for not getting the set, in fact I'm happy for you guys that the Club's version is acceptable for you. I'm only sad for myself because I can't make myself like the first 3 Guards so far. :(

Personally I don't care that much about costume or deco accuracy as long as the figures look good(so far they're lacking the wow factor for me). But I do realize I'm in the minority on that, and I empathize with the collectors who feel burned by the inaccuracy.

That said, is anyone considering getting some Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull toys to go with this set? The Jungle Cutter vehicle from that line is surprisingly badass.

I don't think you need a golden ticket to buy multiples of the boxed set, just the exclusives.

Only the Golden Ticket holders can buy more than one boxed and bagged sets. Regular ticket holders are restricted to one box and one bagged set. Most people try and find members who are either selling their sets or that are willing to buy a bagged set for you if they didn't already get their or want theirs. Same goes for the extras.. Golden ticket holders can get up to three of each item, where normal ticket holders are restricted to whatever they put the limit to for that item.

Sucks though.. This is the reason why the Carded Dial Tone was gone before the doors even opened for the General Public on Sat. As well as pretty much everything else. I think all hat was left for the general public was the Mickey Mouse CC. And it disappeared shortly after that. So basically, people who only came on Sunday missed out on everything unless they paid the ungodly prices of some of the vendors who had stuff they purchased to turn around and make a profit off of.

Not sure where you got the info only golden ticket holders can buy more than one con set and bagged set. Anyone can buy multiple box sets and bagged sets, as long as for each bagged set you bought a box set first. You then get one for each of those the free exclusive item. The rub of it comes when you try to buy the "extra" exclusives, if you only have one badge because you bought four sets you're still one person and can only buy one of each until everyone gets a shot, UNLESS you are a gold badge holder. Eh, so spend tons extra so you can sell them or get them for others. I'll just go with my wife, get one set for me, buy one extra set to sell and make some money back and cover her attendance fees since she is only coming for a few things and mostly there to spend time in New Orleans, and then I can have fun without worrying about going back through the line multiple times.

I have more than one badge every time I go.. I have a dealer badge, and my reg. con badge and I have never been able to buy a second box set. I usually have to resort to having some of the 12" collectors buy them for me.. or have people who didn't pick up a bagged set purchase them for me.

As far as I understand it is one boxed/bagged set per registration.. so yeah, I could buy more if I registered more than once.. But I may as well get the Golden ticket if I was going to do that. The reson I don't is cause I never know who will want me to pick up items for them until after registration... this year thankfully, I have two people who already stepped up and may go ahead and get the golden ticket so that we are all set on the sets.. then worry about the extras after that.
