Not as interested in this pack as the renegades one.

Black cobra commander is nice. But I have black cobra commanders already from other series.

Its probably a great set for collectors if you like the black retaliation cobra commander (especially if black is more screen accurate) and would just throw the zipline gear in a drawer from the single pack releases of the ninjas.
The pricepoint hopefully much lower than the $36 you spend at retail on four $9 single card figures.

Kind of worried that were going to see more character repacked battle scenes from retaliation exclusives. Rather than A Real American Hero Offscreen referenced characters drabed down to movie colors.

I'm a big Cobra Commander fan. When the SDCC Starscream Skystriker came out with the Cobra Commander pilot figure w/Megatron gun accessory, I knew I had to have it. However, the Ebay prices were nuts and I only wanted the figure, not the stupid plane.

However, I finally came across a combo set consisting of the SDCC Starscream Skystriker and a regular 30th Skystriker that seemed to be getting low bids. I followed it, sniped, and got the combo set for $135 + $10 shipping, which is amazing considering the Starscream Skystriker alone is selling for $300 now.

So, I took out the CC figure and Megatron gun, and listed the standalone Starscream Skystriker (I advertised it as not including CC and Megatron) and regular 30th Skystriker in separate Buy It Nows, and sold them both for a combined price that was higher than what I originally paid for the set. So, not only did I make a few bucks on the deal, but I essentially got pilot CC w/Megatron for free.

Of course, this plan could have easily gone the other way...the sets might not have sold and I could have lost dough (sticking me with a figure that I spent $145 on), but luck was on my side this time. :-)

Yeah it was pretty obvious that black CC was going to end up in the preview pack, I wouldnt have spent $200 on such a bland figure with reduced articualtion given its going tohave at least 40 repaints over the next 3 years...if he had been POC level of quality and was never going to get released...sure that would make sense...but not for this figure...

The snake eyes is also a boring inclusion here, we already have the ultimate ninja commando in Roadblock with this set, thus obsoleting SE. wish it had been a better FLint...the single carded flint looks like Johnny Rico from starship troopers and makes me rofl everytime I look at it...

And now that we finally get a clear shot...Movie Storm Shadow DOES have a different costume from RoC. Unfortunately it superficially/at a glance looks almost identical to his RoC getup. Still the somewhat strange "Long coat" style. Just a different design for the coat.

Here's hoping the figures are as accurate as the pictures on the box, but I'm not counting on it.

I'm definitely getting it, but I think the only movie accurate figure is going to be Roadblock. Think about it..

1) We know Cobra Commander isn't screen accurate, he's just a repaint.
2) Screen Accurate Roadblock & Snake Eyes are coming out in the same wave. So if this Snake Eyes figure was screen accurate it would say so just like it does for Roadblock.
3) Um.. more repaints to pay for the molds, lol.

I'm excited, I'm all in. :)

It's just that store/online exclusives rarely have all new sculpts (which a movie accurate CC would need), the box itself only points out that Roadblock is movie accurate, and that we saw that black CC go on eBay.

Though we still don't know all of the figures that will be in the later waves, so it's possible that there is a movie accurate CC coming out single carded that this could use, but it's pretty easy to assume that it will just be the wave 1 CC in black.

I'm going to hold hope that the set has a movie accurate Cobra Commander: it may be a situation that, like RoC Destro, Hasbro didn't feel the "movie accurate" version was a terribly compelling toy, so made an alternate version for retail.
Considering how weakly the last movie's SDCC stuff was recieved, Hasbro might be using this venue to make back tooling costs.

This appears to just be the movie v 2 which always came fully articulated. Sadly That isn't the design i like, the knee pads look off, and the battle Kata stuff looks over done on the chest plate. Even if this is movie accurate, it's not my fav.

Hopefully the vary it a little, maybe just darker skin, some of the other roadblocks look as white as... well me!

Well, you can hardly look at what they are because of the wrapping reflection. You cant tell what CC looks like at all.

The only difference between the single carded CC & this one (judging from the ebay auction) is his uniform is black instead blue. He's not movie accurate. In fact, none of them are movie accurate. Roadblock, SE, and SS all look to be the same as their single card releases as far as deco goes (although SE might have the webgear from the dojo packs).

You know, after looking at the single card figures again this is really a good deal for us collectors. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are the same as their single card releases, minus the action feature accessories (+ Snake Eyes has extra gear), Cobra Commander is a redeco, and we get stands. Roadblock is the only weak link, but that's only because he's the exact same as his single card release, accessories and all. So basically, you grab this set and you don't have to rebuy wave 1 Roadblock, Snake Eyes, or Storm Shadow! Not bad at all really. Hopefully it will be cheaper this way too. That means I only need to get six figures from wave 1.

I don't know, "Premiere" would indicate a release closer to the film's release, so it wouldn't surprise me to see this in June (doesn't the Renegades DVD set come out in June as well?)

If that ends up being the case, then $85 for the black CC probably isn't that bad of a price. Think about the people that bought Night Force Falcon. There was a chance that it would make it to retail, but in the end the people that gambled on that one did well for themselves.

That's true, but what if Amazon looked at the fact that their exclusive preview pack would now be hitting at the same time as the regular figures and decided that it wasn't worth going forward with?

I still think this will come out, but I also think that every day that goes by lowers the chances of it making it out.

They still have to store stuff, and that still costs money. All I'm saying is that if Hasbro originally came to Amazon and offered them a four pack that has one repaint and three figures that will be released in the main line with the bonus that they would come out a few months ahead of any other product, I could see where Amazon would be interested. But then if the production schedule got pushed up along with the movie release date, I could also see where Amazon would no longer be all that interested in such a thing.

Like I said, I still think it will make it out. It's just for a preview pack, there isn't a whole lot of time left for it to still be a preview, seeing as though we know the brick and mortar stores are going to have all of these figures in about a month, and we still haven't heard anything official from Amazon.

Nothing on the package says "Preview" pack. It says "premiere" pack. Different animal. This may not even be scheduled to hit until the movie is released.

Furthermore, the MARS trooper 3-pack came out for ROC and was supposed to be a "preview" item but as I recall did not end up predating the movie or the launch of the mainstream toys by much at all.

Thanks for posting those Fire_Fly. I'm disappointed that it appears CC doesn't come with a movie accurate head but I do think the black uniform does make him look cooler than the blue single carded version. I do like that Snake Eyes appears to be totally black too rather than dark grey like the one in the 3-pack. I'll probably try to pick up this pack rather than buy the single card versions.
