Still overpriced at $9 a pop. And we have confirmation that 'DELTA' is the new name for Bravo class while old Alpha moved up to Bravo and new Alpha is probably just the Bike + Figure releases.

I think the vehicle prices are really fair considering we were paying $14.99 for the Bravo-sized vehicles in 2008. I'd prefer the figures at $7.99 though. $8.99 seems kind of high. I'm holding out hope that Walmart keeps the $6.97 price point for them, but I'm guessing they won't. Luckily, I'm not planning on doing much army building with these figures. I think Red Ninja is pretty much the only one for me.

Well to answer your question syn3thesia there isn't gonna be any big purge that I can see. I say that because last I checked( Friday) there was only about 11,000 total figures left and they were in the distribution centers or at stores already. My store hasn't gotten a new case in two plus months. Sitting with just 3 figures in the pegs. That number is just under a thousand cases. There are just over 1700 targets. So there may be a case going to a store here and there but that appears to be it. Good for target, not so good for us.

I'm kinda hoping with the 8.99 price they will have them on sale a couple of times, because they can still make money with them on sale. Oh and as if now they are 124,000 figures on order. That is roughly half as roc in the beginning. This is good in my eyes because less chance of target getting burned with extras.

Glad to see they're back to 8.99. My Target has Joes at 10.99 right now.
I would be willing to bet the price increase was for clearance purposes. They are raising the prices so when the figures hit 75% off of $10.99 they will still be about $3.68 each instead of 75% off $7.99 which would be about $1.98. I am guessing the clearance will happen soon to make way for the retaliation toys. This is pure speculation , but it makes sense if you think about it.

I dont need GI Joes to get to work...that s asilly comparison...if i dont fuel my car it does nto work...
In other news, just need some BBTS pre-orders, I am not going to run amok for the majoprioty of these lackluster figures as a whole. I would love to wait for these to hit Ross to army build what I want, but given hardly any IM2 stuff is still at TJ/MAX/ROss locations (mostly still unclearenced at all of retail) I dont think Hasbro is really sending that much stuff out to retailers anymore, or retail is really limiting its orders overall. Wheres POC at Ross? and Captain America figures?(I seen the justice jet and the stupid justice car and the 2 Toys R Us POC joe exclusives once) but nothing else related to those lines) unelss for some reason the excess is still not getting to any of these retailers at all. Its an odd occurance this time around, but I feel like it took 2-3 years for the 2008 stuff to finnaly trickle in or was it?

$8.99/figure seems the be the industry standard for figures this scale, so it doesn't concern me.
I like the vehicle pricing, as it reflects what it's been at for a while now. I can't wait to start picking up the Deltas. I don't think there is one Alpha or Bravo I'm interesting in.
Target seems to not ship streetdated toys to individual stores until a week or two before the streetdate. That's what I've noticed for other streetdated, movie lines. These are far more likely to pop up at TRU or Walmart early.

I agree with Ash Talon that at least the figures will pop out early. I don't think it'll be early with national companies like WM or TRU. Something like what happened with Meijers in Ohio. We have a store chain here in the northwest call Fred Meyer. I'm waiting for them to pop this stuff out. They have a huge $4.99 sale on Joes thru the end of the month.

Yeah, I got pretty much ALL of my carded 30th figs from Fry's in AZ (which is owned by Kroger) which is basically just a grocery store. Until recently they were the cheapest retail spot to get them, too ($6.97).
When I was a kid on the coast in Oregon the ONLY place to get Joes was Freddys.
There's always the possibility that these Retaliation figs might end up in the corner pharmacy stores (CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc.) early too. However, for the mark up they give them, I probably won't be checking to see if that happens.

I am okay with the price points, if that's what they're gonna be. Mainly because I won't be buying a lot anyway. I'm at a place in my collecting where I have about everything I want. The Retaliation figures overall don't go with my collecting motif. I am really only interested in the GI Joe trooper.
As such, I make an appeal to my fellow tankers. Because of my job, I am not able to hunt the way I used to. I go to work early in the morning and get off late in the event most days, long after other collectors have had a chance to move through the stores. I only want threemofmemJoe troopers, so if any of you run across some and you already have your fill, please think of me!

$8.99! That's too fucking high!!!!
Seems to me that Hasbro, Walmart, Target, and whoever else is trying to gouge the piss out of the kids/collectors.
Joe isn't the only one. YOu can blame Star Wars. Those POS figures were this price anyway.
For about 2 days, the Marvel Universe figures at my walmart were $5 something. I went up to bag me some Marvel and the price had jumped 3 bucks to $8.95.
The have it all figured out. Gouge the piss out of everyone now that the summer has arrived.
In economics, this is called the marginal utility. That is the MAXIMUM the customer is willing to pay for something before they begin to taper back buying said item.
I think Hasbro has just reached a little too far beyond the marginal utility in this case.
I don't expect any action figures to move to the degree that they would if they were more affordable in the $5-6 range.
Time will tell but I know I am not going to buy any. My money is vested in this summer's convention exclusives. They are far more important.

Oh and as if now they are 124,000 figures on order. That is roughly half as roc in the beginning. This is good in my eyes because less chance of target getting burned with extras.
Aren't there significantly less figures on offer for Retaliation though? I remember there being like 20+ new figures at launch with ROC. So while there may be half as many total figures ordered for Retaliation compared ROC, those numbers might be spread over a smaller lineup and thus stores will have more of each particular figure.
Not sure if that makes sense. Sorry if it doesn't!

I do kind of get what you are saying.
I also don't know if Kenny was factoring in the second SKU for RoC when he compared the two lines. So I don't know if Target is ordering as much as one of RoC's SKUs...or half as much as one (which seems more likely to me)
So yeah, there are less figures being offered because Hasbro isn't forcing two SKUs (and forcing out two waves of each at the same time), so what stock is being ordered is likely going to end up predominantly waves 1 and maybe wave 2, for a total of 14 possible figures, instead of the 23 or so RoC saw at launch.
Either way, that is still a LOT figures (especially compared to where Joe has been running the last couple of years) so anyone freaking out over getting stuff I can't help but laugh at.

$20 for a Vamp or Hiss tank is fair even without decent drivers.
I've often paid $25+ for the previous bravo class vehicles anyway. I liked the drivers in those, But I was really just "there" to play with the new Hardware.
Looks like Hasbro is sticking to keeping vehicle prices down like they did with 2011's MSRP.
Waiting for some store exclusive annoucements.
Also looking for the Ninja battle three packs price point. As that Snake eyes is the one I'll be after over the single packed version.

I'll believe the $8.99 per fig when I see it! They're $10.99 now. Maybe it's to through us off, because they use to be $7.99 and if they drop to $8.99 everyone will think they're saving 2 bucks!

Well, as I understand things, which means nothing, my degrees are not in business, aren't these movie figures basically a licensed item and not in-house per se? GI Joe is an in-house brand but the license for Rock and friends belong to Paramount, right? Plus, Rock and friends get a cut for using their likenesses This is why POC got generic character faces because they didn't want to pay Tatum and friends' likeness gouging considering how poorly the first movie line did.
For Star Wars Lucas needs to keep his chins growing so he pretty much dictates the cut he wants and the cost is passed down to the Star Wars consumer. So I guess Retaliation is kinda now in that boat.
I've also gathered from Hasbro that they have to "train" the consumer with regards to rising prices. They've stated that the Star Wars Legends, which is all old stuff, is way cheaper to make than the new-sculpt main line stuff but consumers would be confused by the two different price points so both lines carry the same retail cost. If Retaliation was to be more than the last main line maybe the steady increase was to "prepare" parents for the higher cost just in case a soccer mom with half a brain remembers buying a Snake Eyes a few months earlier for less.
Look around this summer, everything is a licensed product which means the money is going more places than just Hasbro, Mattel, etc. More people to pay, more expensive product.

I'll just jump on the "it's the rising oil prices!" excuse and leave it at that. I've already cut back on my collecting the last few years, so I'll just be picking up a few of these.
$10.99 is just insane. $8.99 is still a bad value. $6.99 is reasonable.

Don't forget, movie studios get a cut of movie toylines. Therefore, the movie lines are going to be more expensive. So if POC was $6.99 with no movie studio involvement, there's no way Retaliation is going to maintain that price.

^ Amen brotha!
Absolutely. I laughed out loud when I saw the Joes listed at $10.99 at my Target the other day. Who the f** would pay that kind of price for single carded figures?!?
I'm glad that the Retalliation carded figures look so bad. I'm retiring from Joe collecting until the price drops down to something reasonable AND the cards get decent again. We'll see if that ever happens.......

$25 for the Ninja Battles sets?
Well, there goes that "great value" they were in Hasbro's press release.
Maybe Wally world will get them for $20...
Word.
They are the most expensive item, more than the 10" figures, more than the vehicles!!!
Who came up with this price scheme?

Well updated the list with the new price of the figures now showing 9.99! Up from 8.99. Kinda sucks but oh well.
Man, is May 28 still the street date? That's a full month away.

I love how people complain at the price currently on the pegs. Are you kidding, so what? The prices really stink, but the stores don't get anything. I love Walmart prices, but who cares about that either. I have gone one day out of the week to check two Targets and two Walmarts. They never have anything on the pegs and it has been like that for 5 months. If you ask someone, they either don't care and laugh at me or they check on it and see that there are none coming in.
I am in the "if its too much, don't buy it" crowd. I am not going to buy these figures at the crazy prices they are. I also hate the missile launchers. This stuff looks okay, but not for what they are selling it for. I will wait until I see a price for these I like. $8 is where I draw the line, $9 and above is just stupid. The stores can keep them for all I care. Though that red ninja and joe trooper are tempting.

Hope the kids these are aimed at have a good allowance. I might get some on clearance, we'll see. I'd pay 10 for a vintage figure on eBay, but not a brand new one in the store today.

I take it that most are happy with these prices?
These guys think $6 at Dollar General is a fair price for a for a figure that comes with hardly any accessories, a plain unpainted base, is made up of all old reused parts & comes on a tiny bland looking card.
They absolutely LOVE paying double or triple online + shipping.
They think Hasbro will go out of business immediately if they don't "collect them all". And all the poor hasbro employees will starve to death if they don't support the brand.
So yeah, any price is awesome to these guys. They come on here & constantly bitch & moan about the prices but when they see the figures on the pegs they gladly fork over the cash with a big smile.

I found everything in stock in the BACK at my Target. The guy takes my DPCI codes looks em up. Goes to get them and returns only to tell me, "The street date is the 28th, I can't bring them out to you." Is this true? Can they not do that? Do I need the right hook up to pull them for me? Maybe hit it again this week and ask a different employee?
I would love anyones thoughts. (yeah i could wait, but NO I CAN'T WAIT :))

I work at target.
All the Target stores in my area (about 10 of them, as I live in a major city) have retaliation figures in stock. I know this because I can look up the info in our system. They are, however street dated, It says right on the box, DO NOT SELL BEFORE MAY 28th. However, the figures can be sold, there is nothing preventing the registers from ringing them up.
I pulled all of wave 1, and the 2 ninja showdown 3 packs out of the back and purchased them already (naturally I have the inside connection, so it's not an issue for me), but your average joe isn't going to waltz in and get an employee to sell them before the date, just because it could get them in trouble.
Galaxus
05-20-2012, 10:32 AM
So the alpha bikes are also street dated, if so how are they on the pegs in that picture?
Found Wave 1 Duke, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Trooper, and Ninja 3-Pack. I bought the Cobra Trooper, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow. I am very VERY disappointed in the bullshit rubber they used for Snake Eyes's legs. Even the knees are rubber. This is Marvel Universe level cheapness.
Does anyone know if the Snake Eyes that comes in the 3-pack is made of better plastic?
This is a particular disappointment for me because I had very specific kitbash/paint plans for Snake Eyes's legs, but that rubber shit doesn't accept paint.

I've suprisingly had luck at each of the 3 targets I went to, I bought up everyone except for the cobra troopers and Zartan since I didn't have much interest in either of them.
What I felt bad about though, was the first Target I went to and gave them the DPCI they kept saying it wasn't valid and didn't pull up. Then I went to Customer Service and she pulled it up and called back to the stockroom and he came out with the case and let me pick what I want.
I wasn't sure how much money I had on my CC after bills and all so I just bought a few with the cash I had on me. Then when I called back later to see if they still had the ones remaining from the case I looked through the lady said "I can't sell these till the 28th, I just sold some guy a few of them and I got in trouble for it"
Apparently she didn't realize I was the same guy and I didn't really feel like reminding her at that time either :)

Yeah I keep getting this. Everyone I have asked has said they will get in big trouble if they sell em before the 28th...lol all stores, walmart, TRU and Target...same story...apparently everyone around the country being successful at getting them to bring em out, the words gotten around...

now that target has done away with the web based dcpi look up, anyone know the online item number for 30th figures?

Target doesn't carry 30th Ann Joes. They haven't since last spring.
I didn't even know the site got rid of the dcpi look up. I just scan in store to see if they have more toys the stock room.
