How many of you were inspired by ROC or the new movie, Retaliation to get in touch with your joe side and start collecting again or just get into the hobby. I always bought some joes mostly SS when I saw them in the store but I didnt even know ROC was coming out when I was in a meijer was night with my wife and saw a end display of the new toys. I grabbed SS and SE right away. Then it started and my wife wants to kill me all the time now.

I started a little earlier with the 25th figures, only buying stuff that I wanted. But when ROC came out I went apeshit and bought everything I saw, you never never know when they'll quit selling Joes. I just don't want to miss out on anything since I sold my whole ARAH collection. What a dumbass I am looking back....

RoC almost got me to quit collecting joes. So yeah, it inspired me to find something else to do with my money.

i started buying 25th stuff for my son. i found the tank and my collection began after looking for info on the new joe movie RoC online. i couldnt believe there were adults out there with collections. then i was like eff it i want one too.

i was very suspicious that there were many plants here from hasbro. that feeling creeps back every once in awhile, but i guess i dont really care anyway. it mostly bugs when they keep bashing people who are critical of what is being done with the joe brand.

I started back around 2000/2001. My Grand Ma found a shoe box full of my old Joes at her house and called me and I picked them up. They were the last Joes I had gotten as a kid before getting "too old" for them, was about thirty 91 and 92 Joes. Luckly for me it was at the end of my collecting back then and I was crazy about keeping all thier backpacks and guns together. Only thing I was missing was a flipper for Wet-Suit...and that flipper is what led me to yojoe.com and to ebay and many thousands of dollars spent on plastic since.

I somehow completely missed the return of GIJoe at TRU in the late 90's and early 2000's. It wasn't until I saw the gold Rattler re-issue that I did any modern collecting and then only ARAH era reissues, didn't like modern line at the time. My collecting was 99% ARAH vintage, buying whatever I didn't have as a kid or what I lost in the fire.

Went for the 25th/ME line hook line and sinker, couldn't get enough of it and was disappointed it stopped when ROC came out. I pretty much skipped ROC except for the few ARAH related items and then POC. At first I didn't care about then those amazeing Shock Trooper's came out and it was back on full time collecting again. The black POC HISS tank is in my top five all time favorite GIJoe vehicles. Bought more Skystrikers than I'll ever admit to.

It looks like with the new movie I'll be able to save some money this year, well after the Con is over anyhow. Unless things change only 3 or 4 figures from the movie I want. I'm just too much of a ARAH fanboy. But I am looking forward to the movie itself, looks like it is gonna be damn good.

Nope. Been getting these things pretty much since the start. Been buying them myself since '90.

I was actually, ignoring the ROC figures when they first came out. Then I got bored one day and went to a local TRU. I saw that they still had some SS and Duke figures on the pegs and thought "oh what the hell..." when I opened them up, BOOM!

I believe the anouncement the movie was getting made got me a little excited, it was at that point I noticed 25th figures in the store. I justified it at first by stocking up on them for my then 5 year old so he could have GI Joe in his life. Then I started looking through my old toys and picked up stuff on ebay. Then I got excited and bought 2 or 3 of everything. Then I transitioned out of my vintage stuff and went to 95% ME. I open 99.9% of everything and my son and i have a fun time playing. Then I was bit by the collecting bug and the marvel 3.75 stuff came out. now I have a lot of figures.

I had a half dozen ME Joes as of early 2010, but then I watched Rise of Cobra. It turned me into a "heavy" Joe fan.

As for the topic the only thing the movie has inspired has been a bowel movement. Sure I got the toys when they hit clearance or ross, but I am a completionist. But as far as inspiration, well let me put it this way. I had a chance to watch the movie on tv twice now and I could not take 5 minutes of it. All I have ever needed really for joes to inspire me was the file cards, thier look and junk, the loose ties to actual or fantastical miltary-ish stuff, and all that seems to be going through some kind of cafateria minimisation which I do not dig. BUt hey, back in 2000 all the joes looked like cheapo made knock offs. Who knew pimp pink lancher would be so valuable? COBRA!

I had a few 25th figures but when I saw RoC (movie and toys) I loved them and have bought loads since.

You people in the states can't really understand what it's like to live in a country where your all time favorite figure line emerged from the warp after more than 15 years or so... -I was visiting a big toy shop a few years back to grab some things for my new born son and couldn't believe I was standing there holding the whole first wave of ROC figures in my hands. It was AWESOME!!! The last time I saw Joes on a store here in Greece was probably in the early nineties! 25th? POC? 30th? -You guys are really lucky! I don't believe we'll ever gonna see any of the retaliation figures here...

ROC had the opposite effect on me, I only bought one figure during that era.

I fell in love with the ideas behind gi joe almost exclusively because of the roc half time commercial and the gi joe google searches that followed. And thats after hating arah. Sure i picked up a gvsc and VvV in tru periodically cuz they just looked cool, but i wasnt all in until roc spots came along.

I think the Mail in figure General Joe Colton was my last figure that I got from the 82 to 94 GI Joes. I actually got back into collecting Joes in 2004 with the Valor Vs. Venom line. They had a lot of my favorite characters, but the figures were crappy. Then 25th came out and my addiction to Joes really came back.

It had been about 20 years since I last had a Joe in my hand and I saw some cheapo Action Man ones on eBay that I got for my son (9 at the time). Then, I saw an old SE and SS, which I always loved, so I got those and was stopping there.

Then, I saw them in TRU and got kind of excited. I couldn't afford them though (nearly $20 a figure here in Oz) and was sad until after the movie came out. Then, slowly but surely, the stores were clearing them out.

When we were just doing our grocery shopping, I saw a couple of racks of ROC stuff, all $5 per figure. I just rammed the trolley into the rack and swept my arm across until they were all in my trolley.

So yeah, hell yeah, the movie got me back into this in a big bad way.

That said, the movie stuff isn't my favourite by any stretch, but it was my first introduction to the ME stuff (had NO idea Joes had gotten so fkn coooooool) so I'm filling in the collection and having a great time doing it.

And my oldest is 11 now, we've both got active Watch Lists on eBay for our favourites. Still having an absolute blast!

That is hilarious to imagine! :D
