i want peoples opinions. i have an unopened 2010 Comic Con sgt. slaughter. hes coming to my town this friday for a wrestling event and all the posters say you can meet him.

im debating weather or not to have him autograph the package...
my concerns are :

1. will this effect the value in anyway (negative or positive)
2. im a big fan of package art work and not sure if the signature will make it look less aesthetically pleasing...lol

honestly i really dont ever plan on selling it. i usually keep things like that for my personal collection. which is why i think it would be cool for him to sign it...but then again i really dont want to ruin the art work lol. what to do? what to do? please give me your thoughts and opinions people! thanks!

ps- even though i dont care about value so much- i still really am curious how the autograph will affect the value, so if anyone knows how this works, please let me know!

It can't hurt the value. You could always ask him nicely not to sign on his beautiful picture.

i personally wouldn't want to buy an autographed one from someone else. I would value it less then an original.
However, if you plan on keeping it, and that's what you want, get it signed. I'm sure you will have no trouble selling it at a later date regardless!!

The autograph will increase the value. Get a picture of him signing it for you. Also, ask him where Col. Mustafa is.

Ask him to sign on the bubble.

The value of it would probably depend on who you would be selling it to. I'd say it can only go up, especially if you have some way to authenticate it - like having your picture taken with the Sarge holding the signed figure.

If you're worried about messing up the image, you could always ask him to sign down by the legs or up in the logo.

Personally, I'd say screw the value and have the man sign it. You've got something you know is real to go along with the memory of meeting the man.

An autograph from a celeb on an item like that should be a no-brainer. If you seriously have to ask for advice then dont do it man.
I have an original print of "silent interlude" and when I met Larry Hama for the first time I didnt even think twice! He could of gangsta tagged up all over snake-eyes and I wouldnt of cared.

Get it signed. You will regret it later if you don't.

110% agreed. If you plan on selling it, then photograph him signing it. Otherwise you'll regret it. I met him the year before the figure was released, and he is great guy.

Getting something signed in person is priceless. Do it.

No brainer. Get it signed. It will be worth much more.

If you're worried about the signature "ruining" the artwork (how it would, since the signature is really an enhancement, I don't know), then have him sign it on the back.

Personally, I think the signature would only make the artwork that much better.

BUT.. if you're worried about potential resale value.. DO NOT GET IT PERSONALIZED. No "to so and so..."

If he'll sign it.

I was a huge wrestling fan years ago. I stood in endless lines to meet wrestlers and get things autographed. Specifically a folding "steel" chair. Several dozen wrestlers were happy to sign it. A few refused and would only sign photo's or their own books that you had to buy at the event.

If it were me, I'd take the MOC figure and try and get it signed, and I'd try to get a picture of he and I, with him holding it. That way if you do decide to sell later on, you have some kind of proof it's a legit autograph.

I have seen I don't know how many MOC autographed Rowdy Rody Pipers that have been personalized to someone sell on ebay for $400+ time and time again, I don't think the autograph would hurt the resale value but getting it personalized to you might if you end up selling it sometime down the road. I'd say get it signed and a pic of him signing it and if you can with both of you and the signed item both for yourself and if you do end up selling it, those would surely help if someone is iffy on buying it because they don't know if it is real or not. Can't hurt for sure no matter which way you look at it.

of course get it signed. Have a picture with him doing it too so you have proof of authenticity.

I'd get it signed. Had a chance to have my masterpiece VF-1J signed by Tony Oliver (voice of Rick Hunter from Robotech). Totally worth it. Definitely my most prized possession in my collection. I thought it was awesome but a friend of mine told me that I'd have less of a chance to sell it if I ever wanted to because it was personalized to me, rather than just his signature. Personally, I'm glad it was signed to me. We had a long conversation about his career in animation and the impact Robotech had on me as a kid. I'll never forget it.

Go for it. I like the suggestion of getting it signed on the bubble, keeps the card art clean!

I wouldn't do the bubble, too easy to rub off of the plastic.

Do it across the "Joe" logo or on the back.

Get it signed! But do it like I did, only have him sign the letter on the back. Dont ruin the artwork on the front, and dont do the bubble:

Actually...I read an article where it says that signatures are fine but having it personlized ruins the value

Oh yeah, that's the way to do it!

Ask you self the same question, but put "not" in it and see how that feels.
I say if you have opportunity to have Sgt. Slaughter (one of the only real life GI JOES) sign your 4 inch figure, than jump at that opportunity! And Get pics!!, Frame it in a Shadowbox and display the shit out of it!

This is the way to go, I'll have to remember this if I ever get the chance to meet the man. I'd still get a pic with him as well.

Don't forget to have him put you in the Cobra Clutch, Maggot.

I think you should open it and play with it! That is what I did with both of my Sarges! Lol, just kidding. Obviously if you haven't opened it yet then you probably aren't going to so just have him sign it.

update in case anyone was interested.... so i met him today and had him sign it . as soon as he saw it he asked if i wanted him to sign the letter on the back. i guess he was used to people asking him to sign the back . after he signed the back, he said "let me sign the front too" and then he proceeded to sign on the bubble over the figure and the wrote "yo joe" under the signature. my only real qualm with that is now its in the viewing way of the unopened figure lol.

i got pictures of him signing it and also got my pic taken with him. over all it was a cool experience. still not sure how i feel about him signing the bubble over the figure though... but im not complaining.
