They should have never had killed Chuckles. He was the best thing IDW had and they havent delivered anything as good as it since. I would have read Chuckles/Cobra for 50 issues if they kept it up and not had him kill himself.
Not to mention he's really the only character IDW has really properly developed. Everyone who's read IDW really knows Chuckles and I think thats whats appealing. Scarlett, Flint, even Duke and Snake Eyes... you could swap them out of their storylines for each other and it wouldnt make any difference.

In a way I'm glad he's dead. Now no writer can ruin him as a character in IDW continuity. The way he went out was beast. I dug the way he was developed.

I keep waiting for another "must read" from IDW, but it hasn't happened yet. I favor having one comicbook to follow not two or three. Make it count, put your best stuff into one great book, over and over again.

I agree that Cobra hasn't been the same since Chuckles died, but I have high hopes for the team of Joes that Flint is supposed to be leading in the series soon. Somewhere I read the team would include villians. I expect Major Bludd to be at least one of the villians.

A lot of you might disagree...but I just read this issue, and read it again and again. IMO this is thee most perfectly written and emotional read in IDW history. I was shocked with the death of CC, but now getting more of a backstory from Chuckles and his words from beyond the grave...it made me realize how much I was actually connected to Chuckles. When he began working undercover, I liked his new "mythos" but this single issue made everything come to light...and of course, the foreshadowing was tremendous.
There is a passage there that reveals how long the last CC was in power...something to think about, considering that this new Commander, pretty much came in and re-structured Cobra in his own way in a matter of months. The other commander, laid hidden...this one has no qualms to let the world know he is here and in charge. With the new downsizing and restructuring of the Joe team, this version of Cobra is promising to be one evil bastard organization. Can't wait to see how the Joe's get themselves out of this one!

Agreed. As much as part of me wishes he wasn't dead, so we could read more, the other part understands it's for the best...

That's like saying Jason Todd or Bucky or Gwen Stacy can't be ruined as characters.
Comics just don't work that way.

Super hero comics work differently. Characters are never truly dead so the reader never gets the sense it's over for them, once and for all...

Tell that to Sneak-Peek.
Also, a character doesn't have to "come back to life" in order for someone to write more stories about them.

No a character doesn't, but if they're dead the odds are greatly decreased. It's not impossible but, in this case, it's highly unlikely...

How can you say it's "highly unlikely" in the context of talking about a book where it specifically happens?

The way the story's written. Why kill Chuckles off the way they did only to bring him back? I just don't see it happening...

I don't see it happening, either. My point is that just because a character is "dead" doesn't mean that character can't be "ruined" through flashbacks, retcons, or otherwise.

My point is that I just don't see it happening. Like I said it's not impossible but it's highly unlikely. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Bucky is a glowing exception, bringing him back was at the time, a catastrophically bad idea but Brubaker made it work and Buckcap is now one of my favorite Captain Americas.
Gwen Stacy...yeah the less said the better..ugh.
I just don't see IDW ruining Chuckles in the future. I mean this one issue, after that, what else are they going to do with him? As a company they just don't seem like the type to go back and retcon their in-continuity Chuckles.
