Any idea is they will be a test screening? Someone on IMDB posted that they saw it. (Review sounded like total BS)
But I was wondering if anyone heard anything about where & when a test screening might happen.

I have no idea and haven't heard anything but that would be cool if they did. If they do I hope I am one of the ones that gets to see it first. That would be awesome! I can't wait to see this movie. I hope they do have a test screening and I am one of the ones that gets to test screen it.

Just about every movie does test-screenings, but they're usually a couple months before release, so test-screenings for this have probably already happened.
You just don't hear so much about the test-screenings because the people that go to them are usually required to sign non-disclosure agreements. Which means if they start blabbing about it on the internet without permission from the studio, they can get sued and the studio WILL have the means to track them down.
I am hoping that those at the convention will get a special sneak preview.
Lourd knows they deserve it.

A friend of mine saw a test screening a few weeks ago. He said it was definitely better than ROC. I didn't press him for details because I want to go in fresh.

doubtful we get a sneak preview unless they show it Thurs night but Thurs night is traditionally preview night pick up your set night.
and Friday is the day of release.
unless of course you mean FREE showing in a theater and not a hotel meeting room.
I certainly would not mind waiting an extra day to watch Brian get on a chair with his megaphone and show the convention specials if it meant a free or early showing of Retaliation.
The club could rent out a local theater for a late night showing on Thurs night at midnight too.

What did he tell you besides Definitely better than the first? Did it feel like a true G.I Joe movie or the action was just better?

Your friend is lucky bro. I bet if you had pressed him for details he would have told you how sick the movie is going to be. I think RoC was great, and if Retaliation is definitely better than it must have been wicked, super, awesome, pissah!

Hahaha, man. Sometimes the 'Tank just friggin' cracks me up.
I was kinda thinking the same thing. ("Is they"????)
But, to actually answer the question - I don't know! Is the movie "big" enough to have a pre-mass-opening, star-studded, Hollywood premiere? Something tells me no.

It will probably get a big premiere (being one of Paramount's "big" summer films), but I don't see it being as big as, say, Avengers, Spider-Man, or Batman.
Heck, Paramount didn't even fork out the money for a 3D conversion, and as is, I think GI Joe benefitted GREATLY from Star Trek 2's delay in production. Otherwise we'd be waiting until August for the movie...

Before RoC came out, Hot Topic gave away free movie tickets to see RoC if you bought a Joe shirt. However, the screening was only for people who got tickets either from Hot Topic or other outlets, there was no way to buy tickets. The cool thing was the screening was the Monday before the movie came out. So we got to see the movie 4 days earlier than anyone else. I liked it so much I seen it twice more in the theater. I'm hoping Retaliation does something similar.
If anybody saw it, and they dont want to ruin the plot, just give an honest objective assessment rating.

It will definately have a premere. All movies do. Probably in NY or LA is the most likely place, That is usually where they screen the movie for critics (About a week before release.) However JonCon could have some interesting movie related things happening too.

I wonder if they will screen it for critics this time around?
they did not do so for ROC.

A little bit of test-screening related trivia: Supposedly Rise of Cobra actually had its' ending changed because of test screenings: In the original ending, Cobra Commander and Destro got away (in classic cartoon fashion) on their big Cobra-branded submarine. Supposedly test-screening audiences thought that the ending didn't have enough "closure" and so it was changed to the "capture and imprisonment" ending (which may explain why that prison scene has the worst CGI of the entire movie).

I'm glad Rex and Destro didn't get away at the end of RoC. I'd hate to think of all the trouble they could have caused the Joes between movies had they escaped. I'm glad the Joes and Duke were able to catch them.

It all depends on if the movie key is active due to it being a digital film instead of a 35mm they arrive on harddrives with keys like WoW or Diablo. But if they do we will test the film in my theater
Ok I think I misunderstood the question sorry
