This is by far the best Green Shirt we have gotten in the "Modern" body style. There are so many way to equip this figure, it's worth buying a few to have the different versions.

There's a lot that's cool about this figure, yet at the same time it's still a rather underwhelming figure. They really should lose the cloak. And why didn't they got the route with using cloth like they did with POC Dusty?

Normally I would agree, but for some reason the molded cloak works really well with this design.

This really is an awesome figure. He looks cool with either head sculpt but what's great is each gives the figure a unique feel. To me the mohawk sculpt looks like the Sideshow Beachhead exclusive. I do think it could use a little extra paint apps to break up the green but it's still nice.

That's correct they do not, but It also says that in the news story.

"With his mask and survival cloak, he can withstand the most brutal battle conditions on earth."
Seriously? lol...
You forgot to mention his battle katta ninja skillz...that trumps any survival cloak...
Also the name plate looks like its spelled GI JDE...hopefully thats a factory misprint.

I love this new figure. I plan on getting at least 12. I think he is awesome. I want to customize an original 13 Joes set using this figure as a base. He is the bomb.

I plan on buying about six of these if for nothing more then the gear. I think the web gear and backpack are awesome. This is custom gold. I do have 2 questions, 1) the backpack shows it holds 4 hand guns and 2 rifles but I only see three hand guns. Also, do all 3 rifles work on the backpack? 2) Do his feet have articulation?

The back-pack can hold 2 rifles at a time, and can hold any of the 3 that came with the figure. There are 4 slots for hand guns, but I only received 3, the official release does have all 4, I have seen one carded, and all 4 were there. His ankle does have articulation.

Funny, I saw some pics last week and I was not feeling it. Not sure if different pics, but today, I think he's decent. Not going to change my life, but I'll add 1 or 2 to the collection....like the Mohawk.....it is different, at least. Though, I think I'll toss the cape or pair him up with Dusty and Sandstorm (the ROC MP, not the Coyote!).

The base is from one of the Toys r us troopers vs Firefly set.
thats why there is a misspelling.

It just looks like it would hinder mobility of his left arm. If anything, I just wish he was painted better instead of so drab.

I didn't care much for this figure earlier on in the Retaliation craze either but now that these new pictures have come out.....I can get on board with it. I like how he looks on SB Vamp. But that's my dilemma, in my universe.....the SBs are the rank & file Joe soldiers. Adding this new style of Green Shirt will cause me to redefine my whole army.

Funny, I had the same reaction. I definitely warmed up to him, but now I'm not sure how to use him either. My taxonomy:
MPs (Zartan in disguise) - PIT security
PIT Commandos - PIT security, elite group
Steel Brigade - Commando
Retaliation Trooper - ?
I've thought about converting SB into Urban Ops and the new Trooper for Desert warfare....just a working thought.

Don't like the Drab colour, maybe someone can put a classical Camo paint job for this guy.
Guns are fine except from that wierd ?G36? with the Magazine at the bottom of stock. Might be a small production glitch but ... "Marauder will be needed"
Head is great love the mohawk theme. Although I can see a few Headswaps will be used when I armybuild these.
Cape goes straight to trade/sell!

He sure comes with a ton of gear.
Steel Brigade Delta is a far superior figure, even down to the proper olive drab color.

Sucks that he doesnt come with a stand because with all that crap he has on he isnt going to be standing at all without one.
Reminds me of that Charlie Sheen as Rambo scene from Hot Shots Part Deux.

Love it. My Joe forces are severely lacking (I rarely buy G.I.Joe members) - so this will give 'em some reinforcements!
I'm glad that faux-hawk is a little less "pronounced" than previous pics showed.
That sucks about the stands though. I think they should cut out an accessory or two and keep the stand. I mean, hell, they make a gazillion of 'em; the cost-per-piece oughta be pretty low.

Man, what's not to love about this guy? Awesome figure!!
I may be in the minority here, but I think he's too tall. Hasbro is slowly making every figure too tall. Soon they'll be in scale with McFarlane's Halo toys, and we'll be scratching our heads at why we're paying $15 a piece.
Yes, some of the proportions have been way off, either too big and/or too small, and bits and pieces of both in one figure. They should really make 1 generic sculpt for hands that can actually hold and keep weapons in their hands.

I'll pick up a few, but I'm not as excited about this figure as much as I was to get some of the wave 3/4 30th figures or even as much as I am to get the new Red Ninja figure.
His gear is awesome though. I really hope the production figure has the e-tool changed to a normal color though.

I think they look pretty cool.
My kid is a big HALO fan, i might even see if he wants one.
The only things i don't much care for are the cloak and the unmasked mohawk head. He doesn't exactly scream military "good guy" to me....instead it's more like "1980's bad guy".
I think i'll get him when they release. I'm still pretty interested in this line, despite the many already apparent flaws.
The Mohawk look was something the US paratroopers did in WWII. Hasbro is constantly always making GI JOE WWII throwbacks with varius degrees of results, much the time its a miss.

The release shots, the head looks A LOT better. Way more in scale than the early photos.

This is one of the very few I plain on getting from this movie line. I am not going to use him as a troop builder but as a single character. I have enough Joe troop builder’s especially since technically GI Joe is suppose to be an elite team there shouldn’t be ANY troop builders. LOL

If Hasbro was smart they would make a 10 pack of multiple head sculpts so people would buy more of these, or give each joe figure a spare head that would go with the joe trooper as a buyer incentive for each figure.

Awesome fig- headsculpt, gear, loadable backpack and working knife sheaths- a huge win all around. Looks like he's going to battle off-world on Dune or somewhere. I really like how this fig's sci-fi, techy look counterbalances the heavy ninja presence in the line. I loved the original blue cloth cape but this new plastic one looks just as cool. I have a spare SW Montross cape I can throw on him to recapture that Toy Fair look.
I wonder if we'll get any store exclusive packs with this line that wouldn't necessarily have been previewed at Toy Fair- TRU, Walmart, Target, K-Mart- like we got with ROC. Would be nice to see this fig done up in a different color scheme as well.
I plan on buying several and individuating them with spare Star Wars heads...

For all the grousing about the color of the e-tool, it's PAINTED orange.
A. It was perfectly awesome grey, why change it
B. at least a little paint thinner or acetone and no more orange. I may not be able to apply paint, but I can remove it with the best of them!!!!

The orange shovel and cape don't bother me. The cape appears to be detachable, so I don't even have to use it if I decide I don't like it once I have it in hand. Same thing with the shovel, though the way I see it the orange color will make it easier to find if I lose it in the heat of battle, lol! I can see why some don't like those accessories though.

Yeah, the Joe Club has the accessories as blue, but Destro, I'm presuming, got a production sample, which would indicate that as the "retail color".
Could be a yellow Stalker situation where the earliest versions were blue, but Hasbro changed it and the majority of the run will be brown.
Now watch Hasbro short pack this figure... http://notanotherskateforum.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/emot-awesome.gif
To be fair, it isn't like there is an enormous enthusiasm for Retaliation product in general, much less a Joe troop builder. I fully expect him to be a one per case, but like most movie lines, that won't matter when stores get 3 or 4 cases out at once.
FYI, expect either the Cobra Trooper or Red Ninja (probably both) to be one per case as well.
Because that is what the accessory is supposed to be:

Still don't get why we're giving it such a complicated name. Shovel seemed to suffice just fine.
