Today, I picked up the Holy Grail of SW collectibles....the Millennium Falcon Extraordinaire.

Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to build ECHO BASE with nothing but Kenner original SW figures and vehicles. I have NEVER seen a picture with the MFEXT. next to a figure, you just cant tell how big it is when it was hanging in the TRU store. Okay, enough talk. Enjoy the pics.

She looks a wee bit big for SW / 3 3/7 figures, no?

Either way, that is one big SOB! :)

Hey you callin my girl BIG? She may not be much to look at but she has it where it counts.

USS FLAGG 1/18----62.5 FEET X 20 FEET.

The only custom this girl is getting is some new feet/landing gear and a new scratchbuild quad-cannon. The rest is just pure awesome.

Its actually as close to scale as its ever going to get. Unless I get Michael Fright's mock up, which was way on point. I like this one tho, I added the black circle window ala black painter's tape, it looks better. Besides, this is based off of the 1995 MF Falcon re-issue. Its toyesque at its best.

Trust me, I had no idea I was getting this until a week ago. My friend called me up on the day of the Wayne Monthly toy show, 1st sunday of every month, told me about and the price, I said I would see. The guy was very cool when I called him in the evening. We worked out a two part payment and then we agreed. I met him today, inspected it and took her home. Great part about it, he went down in price and made it very hard to say no. My wife just said, You are crazy. Personally I dont care, best day ever. Feels like Christmas today for me. My girls were in awe. Its good to be king.

Im hoping to set up a vintage only diorama of Kenner SW toys. I think these boys have been left to the dinosaurs but I still love them. The snowspeeders are the old re-issues but 3 are the Target Excl. All I could find for the moment. Still have a load of vintage figures to recover and start setting up.

@O.L.B. Thanks.

This is a giant display that hung in most TRU stores in the Late 90's promoting Star Wars toys. It was not for sale. Each store was supposed to hold a raffle to decide who got it. I put my name in at two different stores. I heard of some stores selling raffle tickets to raise money for charity.

Its actually just a big shell, but it does have electonics for lights at the front and the guns in the mandibles. As far as customizing goes, no way Im opening this up, if I come across another that is damaged or open in some way, then you bet. All I want is to make landing gear for it and a new quad gun for underneath. My brother asked me if I was going to paint it, no way. The stickers are coming off but nothing a spot of glue wont take care of. Its a really cool piece. I have plans to make a fully lit Echo Base similar to a Lego diorama that was done. The first SW figures from Kenner are still my favorite. I know they dont have the articulation but I have alot of fond memories of flying the old girl in my back yard in North Carolina growing up.

I have a huge man-cave under the house. The Echo base dio with the MFEXTR. is next to my 16 ft X 4 ft USS FLAGG v2.0

For those of you that may NOT know:

The 6 foot long(!) MILLENNIUM FALCON "Extraordinaire" (with working lights, Radar Dish, and Twin quad laser cannons (dorsal AND ventral) is a direct "tool-up" of Kenner / Hasbro's various toy Falcons.

The "Extraordinaire" is a close approximation of the Millennium Falcon's true size if it were correctly scaled for the 3.75 inch scale figures! These were made of sturdy styrene plastic, and have all of the same details, deco, and decals as Hasbro's 1995 POTFII Falcon.

There were ONLY (approximately) 700 of these made for display in Toys R Us stores around the country. Each one had a numbered, engraved brass plaque bolted to the circular gun-port area of the dorsal quad-laser cannon.

These Falcons could be seen hanging from the celings of Toy R Us stores back in 1997 during the height of the release of the STAR WARS Trilogy, Special Edition.

Out of the 700 that were made, a (smaller) undetermined number of them survived their months of display in the nation's various Toys R Us stores as MINT specimens.

In late 1997, Toys R Us held a nationwide charity raffle, giving away 500 of the existing "Extraordinaire" Falcons.

Initially, there was some talk that Hasbro would actually REFURBISH any of the non-mint / damaged Falcons to "like-new" condition before shipping them out to all of the raffle winners. Any missing or broken parts (Laser Cannons, Radar Dish, Power pack. etc) would supposedly be replaced.

However, right before the raffle winners were awarded their prize, it was then announced that these were going to be shipped in "as-is" condition"!!

That means that quite a few raffle winners got "Extraordinaire" Falcons that were beat-up, dirty, and / or with missing parts.

Now, some of those winners were fortunate enough to know that they should contact Hasbro and request replacement parts. I know of at least ONE "Extraordinaire" owner that did just THAT back in 1998, and got his replacement parts!

But, everyone else was outta luck. They were stuck with "Less-than-mint" Falcons (which they presumably either still own OR have sold off in the secondary market).

Not near as bad as it could have been. The usual price is about 1200-2400 dollars, I got it for significantly less and I drove to pick it up. Sooo glad I have a Honda Odyssey, daddymobile it may be, but it got me and the Falcon home with no issues.

Very nice. I had a friend that got the Naboo Starfighter and drove home from Wal-Mart with it on his Geo Prism. The starship was bigger than his small car.

First let me offer you a congrats on such a wonderful purchase. I had vissions of grandure when I saw these hanging at a TRU, but it was never to be. Now days, I am quite content with the latest BMF Falcon playset/ vehicle. I offer you a tip on helping you get the landing gear for this thing. With my experince upscaling transformers, I come to respect the possibilities that Hydrospan offers when upscaling parts. It grows to 60% larger than the original part. Once the part reaches its max, you make a mold of it and cast the new part in plastic resine. You can repeat this additional times and still maintian all the details of the original part. I have grown a part twice and was very pleased with the results. Landing gear is not as complicated as a transformer, but you would need to do some initial planning like scale calculations and such. If done right, you should have landing gear that would match the style of the ship.

Thank you for the kind words. Im not too worried about the landing gear, its the quad gun, if I can get that replicated that would be ideal, do you know of anyone? The landing gear I figured I would use Lego and styrene to allow me to get to its proper size and balance, at least for now.

As noted above, it's not officially a toy. It was a display piece used at Toys R Us that was basically an upsized casting of the old Kenner Millennium Falcon mold.

Back in the late 90's, you could sometimes walk into TRU and see this behemoth hanging from the ceiling overhead.

The same treatment can be done for the gun as well. If the one on top can come off, I would say just make a mold of that piece and cast it and be done. If the gun can not be removed, write down the measurements and then use hydrospan with the Kenner version and grow it to the size of the desired scale.

I think theres one at Legends at Valco Mall in Sunnyvale cuppertino, Bay area, or its possibly bigger than the one you have, they want $3000.00 for it, its there just not sure if its the same as yours, i'll post a pic if I make it there tomorrow, I would buy it for $1500.00 but no way 3K.

Its so light I would have been afraid of it just lifting off and becoming a kite. Its just a shell. As far as customizing the inside, not just yet, I dont have those mad skills, although, I would probably gut a BMF and start with parts from there. Please dont put thoughts into my head.:-)

My buddy has one of these in his garage he got about a year after the raffles. He didn't pay nearly what they're worth now, and it's currently disassembled and being made with a full interior set, etc. He doesn't have a lot of free time, but hopefully it will be finished before his grandchildren die of old age!

Congrats on the purchase. I think this is only the second time I've seen someone post on any message board about owning one of these.

I'm wondering if most of them are hanging in comic book shops collecting dust at ridiculous asking prices or sitting around in garages collecting dust.

only saw one of these in the local TRU way back when. No raffe for it, it was sold by the manager to a local guy for 2500 dollars back then. I always wanted one of these, but it is so far out of my price range it's not even funny.
