Just saw this posted on the yojoe forums by Ted, so wanted to pass it along to anyone here who hadn't seen the news yet:

G.I. Joe - 'Season 2' of the Second (DiC-Produced) Series is Announced **UPDATE: Box Art**
3-disc set from Shout! Factory will be in stores this summer
Posted by David Lambert

Following up quickly after January's release of the DiC show's first season, Shout! Factory has announced that G.I. Joe - Series 2: Season 2 is coming to stores on July 10th. The 3-DVD set will be priced at $29.93 SRP, but you can pre-order it from Amazon right now and get your copy at a discount. If we're counting correctly (and I think we are), this should wrap up the '90s Joe show. Package art isn't available for this title yet, but stay tuned! Package art has been added:

Yay!
No we can enjoy Eco Warriors and DEF forever :p

Kind of disappointed the cover art is about a year behind the material (like how the first set's cover art was centered around Operation Dragonfire), would have been a great chance to slip in some headman...

No, the coverart is right. General Hawk is no longer wearing a space suit, now he looks like a WWII vet.

Anyway, if I have the money, I will get this on Day 1.

I'm kind of surprised that none of the ninjas made the cover. Shout! had originally talked about having some extras on this season 2 set, but with it being only 3 discs, I wonder if there will be any.

I wonder who has the rights to the Sgt. Savage episode and if it will ever turn up on DVD? It would be a great "bonus" to this set, since it does feature RAH characters and I think was only available on VHS as a pack-in with a figure.

Oh man I remember seeing GI Joe somewhat in reverse, like I saw most of the DiC series before Sunbow, but liked Sunbow a lot more. Nonetheless, I did enjoy some of this series and seeing the 90's designs was cool! Night Creeper Leader looked way more bad ass than his Battle Corps figure.

Might as well buy this and DiC season 1. Always pissed Storm Shadow bowed out and stated that Snake Eyes was the greatest ninja in the world. WTF man. The ONE episode where we could've seen Storm Shadow annihilate and yet he robbed himself of his own glory. I, greatest Storm Shadow fan in the world, am disappoint. Still.

I can understand that there were new figure releases of Hawk and Duke in 1991 but the change in the character design for DIC's second season was real drastic on both Joes.

Duke ended up from the traditional short buzz cut to a total crop top 90's hip hop punk and Hawk seemed to de-age a bit along with a new voice actor.

This is one of the few episodes I remember seeing way back when. Even then, as a kid it pissed me off and I thought it was bullshit, still love his Ninja Force outfit though, always have. I will be buying this.

Cobra Commander reverts to his classic blue outfit & hood in season 2... I expected to see him make the cover. This one seems to be more a reflection of the season 1 characters.

Still, it's what's inside that counts. I rather like the Eco-Force episodes, as absurd as they were. With this and Renegades arriving on DVD so close together, it's going to be a fun summer!

Now pleasssseee... a complete release of SIGMA 6???

Now it's time for a full run sets of
G.i.Joe sigma 6
G.i.Joe Extreme

Either Magna Pacific or Madman seem likely contenders.

Now, how about a Sgt. Savage/Extreme boxset?

I thought that MadMan made some agreedment with Hasbro regarding the toons like Transformers. It seems logic that they will have GIJOE as well. They also never aired here in Holland. Always believed that the movie was the end.

Hope that there will be a complete boxset of this toon. Not that it's the best, but it's still GIJOE

I thought that MadMan made some agreedment with Hasbro regarding the toons like Transformers. It seems logic that they will have GIJOE as well.

They did mention a distribution agreement recently, but it seems this only covers modern cartoons such as Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe Renegades, and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to name the big-hitters.

Here's a brief run-down over who releases what in the land down under:

Madman:
-Transformers Generation 1 U.S. (seasons 1-4 plus the Movie)
-Transformers Generation 1 Japan (Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, Zone). Strangely enough, Headmasters and Victory have the Omni Production dubs, while Masterforce stuck with the original audio.
-Beast Wars (seasons 1-3)

Magna Pacific:
-G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (Sunbow era from "Countdown for Zartan" to "Into Your Tent I Will Silently Creep").

Entertainment Rights
-Transformers Armada (all 52 episodes)

Sony
-Beast Machines (seasons 1-2)

Paramount Pictures
-Transformers Energon (episodes 1-8 of 51)
-Transformers Cybertron (episodes 2-5)
-Transformers Animated (seasons 1-2 of 3)
-Transformers (all 3 live-action films)

Now here's what is left out:

-Transformers Generation 2 (status unknown. Last seen on VHS by REL Media)
-Transformers Robots in Disguise (status unknown. Never released locally in any format. Carried back over to Saban?)
-Transformers Energon (episodes 9-51 unreleased. Possibly Paramount due to U.S. boxset)
-Transformers Cybertron (episodes 1, 6-51 plus 'lost' episode "Inferno" unreleased. Possibly Paramount due to U.S. boxset)
-Transformers Animated (season 3 unreleased.)

-G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero ('MASS Device' mini-series, 'Revenge of Cobra' mini-series, 'Pyramid of Darkness' mini-series, the Movie, and entire DiC series still unaccounted. Anyone?)

Box says 4 DISCS on the side. They could change that before the release, though. Amazon listing says 3 discs. I remember BCI's Bravestarr Volume 2 was originally going to have 4 discs and the 4th disc got pulled right before the release. Hopefully, it ends up with 4 since that would mean extras.

Anybody have a shot of the back cover to view?
