Hi all -
Need some help trying to find some dark blue (Cobra blue), flat / semi-gloss SPRAY paint.
MUST BE SPRAY PAINT
I don't have the $$ to invest in an airbrush right NOW, otherwise I would and be done w/ this.
I'm trying to match up the paint as close as possible on a Cobra Ferret redo/repaint (it's a RoC Snake Traxx now) and so far have used a nice Testors blue, but it's a gloss, and I now find it too shinny now that I have spray it (it looks good though! :) just too shinny for military use :( ).
I KNOW AN AIRBRUSH IS THE ANSWER HERE!!
So I've been back to Michael's, Lowes, HD, all the local hobby shopps, looked online, and NO ONE has what I am after. All I want is a nice flat/semi-gloss dark blue, doesn't have to be exact, just close.
Any suggestions, or am I stuck where I'm at? :(
Thanks -

If they have the blue your looking for but in gloss just use Dullcote by testors to make it flat.

If you're looking for a navy blue to use on Cobra vehicles, try the Krylon Fusion line, which is available at most Walmart stores. I used their navy blue color to create a custom Rattler a few years back and the flat color turned out great.

Ok, stupid question of the day -
Just spray the gloss color (whatever it is) and then hit it w/ this Dullcote after it dries and that's it? (I would assume???)

Yes its a sealer too. But I will agree that if you can find it in a Krylon color use that instead. They wil usually have a flat or semi gloss that works great.

Also, The Krylon fusion is made to adhere to Plastic. Most other paints will peel off of plastic in time. GO WITH KRYLON!!!

Ok, bad news - WM had Fusion, but NOT the color I wanted, or in a semi-gloss / flat - Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :( The did have a little bit darker than "Cobra blue" (again, Ferret / Rattler) than I wanted in a gloss, so I got that and just tried it on a scrap vehicle piece. If nothing I have a Hummer SUT I want to make a staff car I'll use it on.
GOOD news - I meant to get a can of semi-gloss white in all this (I have spent the WHOLE day so far chasing spray paint! :O) and kept forgetting it over my frustration for one f*cking can of blue spray paint! :) I got home and low and behold what did I have stashed on my storage shelf in the garage? I NEW FULL can of white Fusion semi-gloss! WOO HOO!
The day is not a total loss! :)
(it's the little thing that keep me going at this point :) stay tuned.......................
