Some people have pointed this out, but afte re-watching Renegades on Netflix I realize there are quite a few similarities between the two based on what we know.

-Joes are betrayed by goverment.
-One member of the team is believed to be dead after their first mission.
-Joe(s) are arrested and put in a prison. Corrupt Warden runs it.
-Joe(s) are trained by Snake Eyes to be Ninja's.

And I'm sure there are more. I am stoked for Retaliation!

That can still be true, if Retaliation = Retaliation, and Retaliation = Renegades, then Retaliation = Retaliation = Renegades.

See? :D

You're right, different title. Same plot.

Barely same plot. There's some similarities but thats it.

I think it's a stretch to connect them.

If the new movie is filled with easter eggs, included several classic cameos and other ARAH nods, I would love it.

I only hope Retaliation does this as well as Renegades did.

If that's true I will probably watch it all as soon as I get finished with seasons 3-7 of Deep Space Nine. It could be a while though. lol!

I don't think we can dismiss it so quickly because the "A-Team-esque" storyline is present in both but it's certainly not Renegades part 2 ......

Of course it's not Renegades part 2...they already wrapped up this entire plot! lol

No it isn't, not at all. Look, in both versions, Roadblock is a ninja who...

Actually Retalaition is just a movie. Plot is similar (arent all movies), but its not Renegades. No Scarlett, no Ripcord, no Tunnel rat and not a bunch of pointless cameos of other joes who do absolutley nothing for the story with the A-team on the run. Oh I forgot NO BIO VIPERS, Turdle Vipers, or Zombie Vipers(thank the Maker), either...just plane regular cobra troopers as it should be.

I can't wait to see how th enew cartoon comes out in a couple of years. althought it wil lonly have a year tops before th enext reboot GI JOE3 comes out lol...

So (Retaltion - Renegades - ROC) * ARAH = Resolute :)

Yeah, but the comics did it first. I think issue 78 of the Marvel run. The Joe's are framed and the ones that aren't arrested have to go underground. Roadblock ends up leading the ones that are out to clear their name.

In Retaliation, the Joe's discover their entire lives were a weird 80's Cheese Dream. They wake up to find their salvation lies in a bald showbiz wrestler who can't really act, and an ageing action-movie star who they can only afford to get in a 5 minute cameo role.
Then, they wake up from THAT nightmare to discover they are a rag-tag bunch of mercenaries on the run , they only have ten minutes to clear their names and save the world.
And then.. they wake up to discover they are only action figures and what is worse, their articulation has been reduced so they can't sit in their vehicles without getting cramps.

True, but there are some big differences. Cobra isnt involved in the frame-up at all being one.

I have no faith in this movie, as this one may be marginally better than the 1st(which was awful) but will likely suffer from problems. I do notice A-team similarities, which Renegades borrowed from and was essentially.

I just hope this whole "A-Team" vibe doesn't become the norm for GI Joe.

This idea is even dumber than my G.i.joe trooper head looks like Soap from Modern warfare.
