View Full Version : 25th Anni. hard to find!? Advice?

I recently just started collecting Joes again, within the last month. Here's why...I decided to be Storm Shadow for Halloween (cause I got a sweet ninja sword cheap). So I bought a 5 pack at my local Target to visually give my wife an idea of how sweet a Baroness costume could be and now I'm hooked...again...20 some years later! Only problem is, I can't find any single carded figures. I've searched ALL the local Targets, Wal-Mart's, K-Mart's, Meijer's (I'm from Michigan) to no avail. I CAN find the 5 packs, single carded Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow a plenty, but that's it. Most of the time the stores have none at all. So I was wondering how you guys get yours. Do you guys even bother looking in stores, and only order online? Do the individual stores have set delivery dates/times that I am obviously unaware of. Please help guys.

Welcome the world we're all in already. Don't fret, I'm reading that a lot of people are starting to find the figures at the stores. You just have to be vigilant and patient.

Even the Wal-Marts here in Utah are starting to get lots of figures. I went to one last week and saw 15 of each wave 2 figure on the pegs! 15 troopers! 15 Lady J's. 15 Beachheads! etc...

But events in my life have stopped all new GI Joe purchases for me for a while. :( So I had to walk away.

But just keep looking... you'll find them.

We search and search and search, day after day, month after month. I go by a local Target most mornings on my way to work, and, after a while, I've been lucky enough to find the figures. Plus I drive around to other places here and there and occasionally get lucky.

Some people hit Wal-Marts when they're restocking in the evenings. Others turn to eBay or friends. Some have managed to get orders in from online retailers, but the wait can be long.

Nah. These likely are going to start turning up in greater numbers during the holidays. Some of them will be harder to find, surely, but keep looking and in a few weeks or so I bet you'll be able to get most of them.

Well don't. Hasbro wants to stock up for the holidays so expect a big surge. Right now there are ALOT of scalpers going in and buying the figures before you get a chance. THis is happening all over the country.

I suggest either biting the bullet and doing EBAY where the prices are drastically lower than they were a month ago.
OR
Finding out when your Targets and Walmarts get stocked. I live in Ohio (I hope we crush Michigan in Football :) ) and the stock times are:

Target- Monday Morning at 8am or Midday...ask an employee. Be there Monday early!

Walmart- Everyday at 8 am and 9pm. Befriend a stock guy and he might let you know early and possibly open the box right off the crate.

All you can do is check each day and hope you get lucky. That is what I have done. Usually if you don't get to a store when it opens, you will miss out, but I have been able to find some figures on my lunch breaks. I guess it's a matter of being at the right place at the right time. More stuff should be coming out as stores order more and Hasbro gets more out. It seems like they are keeping some figures in rotation, so if you miss something, you aren't necessarily going to miss out. Oh, and great job on those costumes!

I'm in MIchigan also. I've managed to find all the single carded figures. The Walmart here tends to restock wave 2 weekly(usually on Fridays). Target and Meijer has been restocking wave 3 often. Be sure to check on Saturdays. Weekends are always a good time to find figures since they are big shopping days. Good luck. I hope these tips are useful. :)

Eddie. I just asked. The stock guys are usually more than happy to help you out, although you might run into the occasional grump.

I got my wave 3 by asking a guy and he said they would be stocking in about an hour and that there was a box of JOEs. Came back and sure enough there were 3 sets of wave 3. Also Joesightings.com has a list of recent sightings in your area. And if you can find someone in your city who is on these boards you can work together.

Just keep your head up and EBAY it if you get to frustrated. An extra 20 dollars is worth the peace of mind.

thanks again guys...so far, i've been able to get (besides the aforementioned Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow) an Officer, Shipwreck(anchor), and Sgt. Stalker...it's funny, when i finally come upon one i don't have, i feel like i stuck gold...it's weird to think how happy i get to find a Joe, but DAMN IT!, it's fun!

Most of the Targets here (I say "most", because all locations except one have done this) cut back from four pegs to two. The other two were given to the other military line, the name of which escapes me at the moment. Check the pegs where those are hanging again when you return.

Amen to that! Imagine moving from NYC to MI.

That's what I did.

To quote Mr. Horse from Ren & Stimpy:

No Sir, I don't like it!

Still don't get why I have to make a left hand turn to go right...but anyways, back to the topic at hand.

As others have already stated, stay optimistic. You will definitely find them.

Locations in Mid Michigan are now swarming with product, from single cards to 5 packs (i.e. - Cobra Legions).

that's what you guys keep saying, but interestingly enough, every time I go to the store, things look more and more bleak...

-tons of SE/SS on the pegs at first, now there aren't even pegs for small Joes

-tons of 5 packs, now they are dwindling down to one or two, some Targets have zero (I still have yet to see any small Joes @ any other store besides Target

I feel like a bit of crybaby, but I feel like ya'll can sympathize...I'd just go e-bay, but it's so much nicer to see em hanging on a peg...like treasure!

I've had really good luck at my local Wal-Mart. The Joe and Cobra Legions 5-packs pretty much warm the shelves out here, since the got so many in recently.

I'm not sure if anyone else has one of these in their area, but I've also found a lot of the single carded figures at a small department store called Magic Mart. I'm not sure if they're just a local chain or not, but they get the 25th Anniversary line in on a fairly consistent basis.

It is here. Most days when I check stores the pegs are bare (except for CC and sometimes SE & SS), but the 5 packs are easy to get. I even seen tons of Cobra Legions sets now at Walmart & Target, but few carded figs. I wonder if it's more an issue of the stores not ordering enough, Hasbro not having the supply, or a combination of both.

Hi.

K-Mart in Miami had all the wave 3 figures this afternoon. One of each. I purchased Firefly, Zartan and Shipwreck. It was the first time I had seen Firefly and Zartan at a store.

I also saw Red Ninja, Snake Eyes and Stormshadow a TRUS. I have never seen Flint anywhere.

I decided to cave (after much lamenting)and bought them from TRU online I got Beach Head and Buzzer, I have got a delivery confirmation, but I have heard from Hasbro, they were emailing out delayed order emails.

Both places charge the $4.84 shipping, so essentially I only paid the $4.84 extra since the 2figs were store priced, and the tax that would be in store also.

I am not sure how many I would have to have bought to up the shipping past that point.

Seriously, I am annoyed at the fact that I still have quite a few figures to get and cannot find anywhere. Even the online stores are sold out.

I am not a regular figure collector but these I have to get since was my staple toy as a child.

What is up with these companies supplying only a handful compared to the abundance of others? Fu$king Flint, Firefly, Stalker, Zartan are among some I need. Sorry but I dont want to spend $30 on a newly released figure.

CrazyBones
11-23-2007, 05:48 PM
Aside from Flint, you should be able to find the rest for a decent price on ebay.

Everyone has their fingers crossed that Hasbro will start shipping in bulk to meet the market (let alone holiday) need.

but because he has been so hard to find, everyone who finds him first will clear the store out of him, thus continuing the rarity of the figure -- nobody wants to pass on maybe never finding another, so they will buy everyone they find. it's a common practice in toy collecting.

Am I the only one finding it impossible to get my hands on these figures? My local TRU and Target (There's no Wal Mart in New York City) has a glut of the first two 5 packs, but as far as the single packs I have never seen anything beyond wave 1! Now I hear that wave 5 is already out! How can it be? I visit my local stores at least 3-4 days a week and I've never had a problem getting the figs that I want. I'm sorta worried that I may NEVER get them as was the case with many of the Transformers Titanium figures that were killed as a result of the movie toys. Anyone else experiencing it this bad?

Wave 5 is not already out. Wave 4 hasn't even hit yet.

Yes, it's difficult to find these figures, but you have to search more than just your local shops.

I did manage to pick up Beachhead a week ago but beyond that I am stuck too. I guess ordering online is the best way to go. You know, what really sucks about this whole deal is that GI Joes are becoming "collectibles" more than toys. I mean absolutely no disrespect to those of you who ARE die hard collectors so don't get me wrong! It's just that if it's hard for US as adults to get our hands on these things...imagine how impossible it is for the KIDS to find them!

I'm afraid that if the line keeps going the way it is (i.e. only being able to purchase on-line) it won't make it long. Only because collectors make up only a small percentage of the potential customers.

It's a supply and demand thing. I know you don't have supply without demand...but at the same time, you can't have demand without adequate supply...they go hand in hand! Noone (other than us fools :) ) is going to want these things if they never see them!! Kids have to see them on the pegs, and I believe Hasbro is missing out on a huge opportunity here with the holidays!! These things should be everywhere...I'm talkin bout a revolution, a YO JOE REVOLUTION!!! :)

I say waves 4, 5, and 6 need to come out all at once BEFORE the end of the year! C'mon Hasbro, don't be afraid to make the investment...I'd be amazed if you didn't make a fortune on these things!! Kids are dying for heroes these days, so give them someone other than fake, super human, it's never ever ever gonna happen guy! Give them A REAL AMERICAN HERO!!!!!!

as I wave the American flag in one hand while simultaneously shaking hands and hugging babies with the other! :)

Technically there is a lot of figures out there in a lot of stores (They're just all 5 packs)

I think the singles are starting to show up in greater quantities though. Case in point: There's about 7 Targets within my 3 city area. One of these is the smallest one, I called them back when I was hunting wave 1 and they told me that since they're a small store they probably won't get any of them as the merchandise would be allocated for the bigger stores. Well Briking just reported seeing a lot of wave 3 there today.

My hopeful side says that this is the begining of the holiday saturation we've all be hoping for. It would be nice if by the end of the year there's as much Joe product as there is Star Wars product

That would be nice. I went to my closest Wal-Mart the other day and they have an entire end cap of Storm Troopers. There had to be at least 250 Troopers on this end cap. I would love to walk in there one day and see 250 G.I. JOE troopers on there.

If you can't find GI Joe 25th Anniversary figures for now, try collecting other toy lines. I just started collecting the Transformers reissues. The downside is the cost though. That way, it keeps me preoccupied until the next wave of Joes comes out. Also try online like BBTS.

I second that. Michigan (as I'm sure with the surrounding states) sucks @$$ big time. We have finally hit the "grey season". Where it's cloudy and cold for months on end. Blah!

Wave 3 is available at HasbroToyShop.com, but I had to search by each character's name: Zartan, Shipwreck, Stalker, Red Ninja, and Firefly. All in stock as of this posting.

I did that too. I think it was on this board, someone mentioned just do a search of "25th" and all the fig's pop up, instead of searching by each individual name.

Well, it seems wave 3 revision is hitting here full force. I walked into two Targets, and found the entire wave minus Flint. I was able to score two more Cobra soldiers. Looks like they are finally filling the pegs.

One of the many reasons I got smart and escaped Minnesota for Arizona, I went to the Gas Station earlier in a T-Shirt, Shorts and Sandals :D

"There's no Wal Mart in New York City"

Yeah, but there is one in White Plains, just four blocks from the Metro-North stop. And Right across the street from a Target.
Of course you'll be lucky if they've got anything. The Pegs have been mighty empty.

To be honest, I didn't look. I already have two officers and A Snake eyes. I did however notice that the Cobra Soldiers now have holes in their backs.

Anyone else experiencing it this bad?
check fao schwartz! you do know that you arent alone in this! nobody can really find anything!

well I FINALY hit the jackpot!...I found waves 2 and 3 a plenty yesterday afternoon at a total of four Targets...1st stop - one Stalker, left him...2nd stop - a Trooper, got him, and a anchor Shipwreck, left him...3rd stop - I got a Beachhead and a FireFly, and left behind two Beachs, a firefly, a anchor shippy...4th stop - I got a Lady Jaye, Buzzer, and Red ninja and I left behind countless others...it was the most successful day I've had...interestingly enough, I saw not one SS, SE, or CC...

...there is a shortage of joe figs at retail outlets.
this morning, stopped in at walmart and saw, for the first time, an unopened case of joes.

8 figs per case?

1 of each character in the case?

anyway, it wasnt the siegie wave, but i did manage to get a passable shipwreck...barely passable.

I think some of the wave 3 revisions don't have as many of these, or perhaps none at all. EntertainmentEarth.com lists 3 different wave 3 revisions, each with different figures. That must be what we're seeing, because I've seen different mixtures of these figures depending on where I go.

I've seen every figure in stores I've been to since Friday except Zartan. (BTW I am DONE with these Zartan varients! I think.) I managed to finally find a Flint to keep carded yesterday. I've also found 5 troopers at 3 Targets (no, I didn't buy them all so hush).

It's so nice to see full pegs - just keep looking! Of course, I'm totally addicting to going to Target, even though there's nothing I want and I have no money.

Wave 2 revision has finally hit my local Target. I was able to score 2 Flints and 2 more troopers. Flint and Cobra Commander are the added extras in each wave 2 case.

CaptainDinobot
11-27-2007, 01:45 PM
Yeah, thats correct each box has only 8 figure per case. The big reason that there is a shortage would be more due to the fact that very few cases are ordered at a time.

Flint's price on ebay seems to be at cheapest $25 + shipping. Wow glad I got Flint at Walmart before this happened.

Welcome the world we're all in already. Don't fret, I'm reading that a lot of people are starting to find the figures at the stores. You just have to be vigilant and patient.

Yep, I've noticed more and more W1 & 2 figures are showing up on the shelves (and staying there).

Eventually, many people are going to get what they want (such as those who stop by the stores EVERYDAY! :P), then I'll pick at the remains and get what *I* want.

As new waves are released, the craze will die down on the older ones and they'll be more easily found in stores.

You can always try eBay and a million online toy stores (of course, you're going to pay higher than retail cost, not to mention S&H though) to get what you want.

I was looking at my old ebay auctions and noticed I had gotten really lucky and got my loose Flint on ebay on the 30th of September for only $5.50! (S&H was an extra $4)

i just called a local wm asking if they had any figs in stock and the lady in toys told me no so i asked her when she expected more in and she told me 4-6 WEEKS! she said something about them being an assembly something something item. does anyone know what the hell she's talking about? 4-6 weeks is just ridiculous and i asked her if she thought they'd get some before x-mas and she said probably not. shouldn't hasbro be sending more out towards x-mas? i don't get it.

at wally world, they have warehouse items and assembly items. warehouse is fast selling items that they keep in the walmart warehouses. These take 2-4 days to arrive in store.

assembly items need to be shipped farther and are generally not good selling items OR they are hard to find items. These items take 12-28 days to arrive in store.

I don't know if this is the case across the country, but the stores around here have been flooded with 25th Anniversary Joes. In the last week I have picked up 6 wave 2 Troopers, and the fixed crotch BH, FF, & Stalker. Every Wal-Mart and Target I have been to has had multiple cases of new stock out on a regular basis. It seems like they all have variations of the new case assortments out because I am seeing most of wave 2 and 3 on shelves. I have not seen wave 4 yet, but BBTS sent my pre-order in the mail. I recieved confirmation that it was shipping the same day I saw the first post reporting them being found on shelves. I hope BBTS is as johnny-on-the-spot with future pre-orders. I also hope everyone else is finding Joes as frequently as I am, Buzzer, Lady Jay, and the legions pack seem to be the new shelf warmers. They are everywhere.

I'm lucky that the Wal-Mart by my work seems to stock GI Joes more than the others. Must be the neighborhood.

Mostly lower class residential and business/industrial. So no one is gonna buy GI Joe toys. That's the only thing I can think of as to why all the other stores have empty pegs and this one Wal-mart has a plethora of Joes.
