WHEEL SWAP TUTORIAL ON POST# 3

I have a great passion for Python Patrol and Tiger Force as well. But I get tired of the Bright yellow that TF is accustomed too. When I saw POC Beachhead I immediately noticed the stripe pattern and found that I really like it. I feel that it would be what a Modern Tiger Force colors should be. So I am making a TF V.A.M.P. with those same Brown, Tan and Black colors and maybe some OD Green.

Here's a few pictures of the V.A.M.P. taken apart and the new wheels I bought for it.

Thanks to ltfalcon for the guide and idea of adding rubber tires. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-customs-works-progress/91491-poc-vamp-modifications.html

I will be updating as I have time to work on it

Here is the John Deer tractor I scavenged the wheels from. Found it in the Hot Wheels aisle at Wal-Mart. $9.97. Had 2 or 3 different styles, each with different tire patterns.

Wheel Conversion Pictures

Started with a demel and cut the fins down. Used a pair of pliers and pulled the stub off gently.

Used the dremel to cut the axle in half. Be careful, causes sparks.
http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/taterbot01/100_2544.jpg

Used a 7/64 drill bit to drill a hole in the center of the red axle.

The 7/64 bit was alittle smaller than the metal axle and fits snug in the hole. It still moves. I will need to figure out what to cap it with so it doesent fall out later after it loosens up.

Alright, I had some green stuff laying around. I used this to fill in the spot where the axle was to be by itself. I have a feeling that under weight of the vehicle or over time it was going to slope the axles downward and make the wheels look funny. I applied the green stuff and inserted the axle to make a hole in the green stuff. Now I need to wait till it dries and then paint both of them.

Man! that is looking sweet. I love the rubber tires. I am currently molding up the exiting tires in rubber for a commission job I am working on.

Awesome. Lmk how they work out. It might be cheaper to buy them. Im planning on doing several of these guys in different pain schemes.

I may not be a fan of PP or TF, but I know a damn fine lookin' project when I see it!

The wheels are really setting this thing off! Thanks for posting the WiP/tutorial for it.

Thanks. I am actually tweaking the wheels alittle. The placement was alittle too high and the wheels barely rubbed. I have drilled new holes and once I have it all together I will post a very thorough tutorial.
