ANyone know anything that dissolves clay and play doh? I used to make giant creatures that ate my figs when I was a kid and these creatures were made of clay. Well some of my vintage stuff from the early 90s has clay in the joints, etc and need to figure out a way to get it out. Thanks.

Water?
Seriously. When I was a kid my mom would use water to scrub playdoh out of the carpet. Seems like the safest way to remove the playdoh from your vintage toys. Maybe a little pressure too loosen up the clay and playdoh it should be all dried up and should fall away eventually. Good luck

Most of it is off its just in the cracks like th eyes, elbows, etc. I tried soking them but a lot of it is still on them. I have soaked them on and off for almost a year. Thanks for the idea though.

Try working it out of the cracks with a toothpick...

Did you soak them or boil them? Boiling might agitate that clay better without hurting the paint.

Get the figure wet then roll them in Baking soda then submerge in vinegar. softly scrub with soft-bristle toothbrush.
To get the figure wet -dim the lights and play soft music :)

I might try all these things. I tried the toothpick thing though and got very little of it. What about a permanent marker? I once tried to make black ninja with a 90's gung ho :-) Peroxide? thx. Oh and this is gonna sound stupid but I just woke up but the boiling water wont melt the plastic?

It won't melt it but it will make the it soft and flexible so you can get into those places that might be normally hard to reach. Kinda like like that last date after taking a ruffie.
