This is EASILY my ALL-TIME favourite weapon from any movie/TV show, and its a damn shame no-one has cast one up in 1/18th yet,(especially given Trigun's cult following!!) Id love to be able to arm a Joe/MU/SW figure with one(or a pair of these)...so the big question is...could it be made at 1/18th scale?? And if so,do you guys have ANY ideas how??

1:18? Yes. If Slayer hasn't made one, maybe one of the Shapeways designers could. If that fails, styrene, some existing pistol parts, and some sculpting would work.

I've got the gunsmoke figure that was released years ago and I believe the gun is pretty close to 1:18 scale and could be used for a cast (wink wink to casting members, I only ask for a pair of guns in return for using my part to cast), hell I even have the 12 vash doll and his revolver too if that needed be cast as well. But you got to remember even in the anime vash was a pretty damn tall dude and they pretty much made all the characters all tall and lanky.

That looks a lot like the pistol that came with comic pack Scrap Iron.

Thanks for the replies guys!! Iv never seen one of these on any of the custom cast sites, and im not aware of the Scrap-iron weapon,im gonna go look that up now, HISStanker Spot has offered to have a go at one on shapeways, but if any one takes Gundamben up on his offer id easily buy 4 and i wouldnt mind making a donation towards the costs too........

This!

I thought it was weird that scrap iron came with Vash's gun when I first opened him up.

If its the one i saw on yojoe.com,its similar but not quite right, the grip is wrong and the scale is off too....

It's the closest you're going to get, a quick mod and the grip should be fine.

Asphalt who runs his own casting company, "Hunter Artworks," has the ability to reduce parts from larger scale figures to 1:18th scale. Maybe if you ask reeeeeal nicely...
I did buy a couple of these guns from another site thinking that they were in Joe scale but turns out that all his product was in 1/12th scale (I think?) so when I got them they were super huge, I may still use them for some gun toting cyborg thing but any human using them would cripple themselves if they pulled the trigger. *sniff* A shame because I really liked this gun.

Ah was that CKcastings?? I know they did them, but i cant get their site to load anymore,my original plan was to buy a couple from them and enquire about getting em reduced,if you decide you wanna sell em or would even be prepared to loan one out for reducing drop me a line, maybe we could approach Asphalt and see if we could work something out??

Could be, I know it as DMCastings DMC Direct (http://www.skintuckyfried.com/dmc/dmcdirect/accessories.htm)
I think they might be the revoltech Vash guns? Not sure but yeah I got no problem loaning things out for the greater good. I guess it would be up to him if there was enough profit in it for his business to go through the reduction process.

On such small figures, pistols really loose all coherent detail as to what they are really...not seeing too huge a market for such a detailed weapon wich will loose too much scaled down.

I'm positive I've seen that gun among the SDS inventory. I think I last saw it when they opened up their Vault of older casts last year. Didn't realize it was Vash's gun at the time but I most definitely remember that gun's shape...

Ah thats the one!! Thanks for the link,il probably order a couple now anyway,be handy to have em in case summat presents itself!!

To be fair if it was reduced by somewhere around 25-50% it wouldnt be a million miles off 1/18th,in terms of scale its a lot bigger than Wolfwood's Sig Sauer pistols,so to compare it against existing JOE weapons it would be a beast amongst most of the piddly Joe weapons,im thinking it would weigh in somewhere around the same size as the double-barrel revolvers that came with the Spytroops/VvV Dr Mindmender figure......

Damn did i miss it then?? I was 99% sure NO-ONE had cast one yet.....

hope this image helps amigo so here is the order of the guns the top is the 12in vash the middle is the planet gunsmoke vash and then there is a normal joe .45 handgun so if you compare the size of the GS revolver to the joe .45 the handle is pretty close to the 1:18 scale and since Vash's revolver was a beast of a handgun I say it would fit in pretty well with any 1:18 customs.

(again hint hint casters out there if you want to cast this gun all I ask is that I get the original back with a pair of cast guns)

Thanks Ben thats awesome!! The ones that r3v3n has from DMC castings are (i think) from the Macfarlane Vash figure so its the same style as the 1/6th scale longbarrel revolver, but closer in size to the Gunsmoke weapon...so it may be easier (and cheaper) to get a reduction off one of them rather than the 1/6th scale, but hopefully someone with some casting knowledge will find their way here sooner rather than later to help us out with the technical side!!
