TEMPLAR BAGGINS' WORKSHOP
Welcome to my workshop :) I'm finally putting my neck out on the customizing chop block publically, lol. I figured I would make one general thread for all of my wips but I'll probably go back and make a catalogue later on with each figure having their own thread. Anyway, here I go...
TOOLS

EARLY JINX
This one got totally reworked, but I managed to snag a pic before she went back to the bone pile...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/da288af4.jpg
EARLY NIGHT VIPER
This guy has been reworked so many times, I've lost count. Currently, I'm going a different route but here's an early stage pic...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/6b2db496.jpg
EARLY FLINT
Just started working on him recently. The torso is a repainted Viper torso and so far, I'm very happy :)
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/a4352472.jpg
OUTBACK
This is probably the one custom that I'm the most finished with. The upper arms are from a Legions Storm Shadow and the harness is off a Resolute Stalker. Had to repaint the upper arms with a custom mix of flesh, which I love. Sadly, I've ran out...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/af06ed4c.jpg
BOMBSTRIKE
Much like Jinx, she's gone through several incarnations. Until Hasbro comes out with a plain t-shirt look for a female, I won't be satisfied with her. Her filecard stated that she played soccer, so I wanted her to have a more athletic stature. Here's a parts list for the last pic...
• head: ROC Covergirl with Helix hair
• upper torso: 25th Lady Jaye
• lower torso: ROC Dial-tone
• arms: Mutt Williams
• hands: Renegades Ripcord
• upper legs: Helix
• lower legs/feet: Resolute Joe team

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/36fd98fa.jpg
FALCON
This one is a collaboration of several different customs I've seen. Probably the one custom that I'm most happy with :) Neckerchief is from a Young Indy (I think it works much better than the BBTS mold)...
• head: BBTS Falcon
• torso: ROC Pit Trooper
• upper arms: ROC Pit Trooper
• lower arms: Outback
• hands: Croc Master
• upper legs: ROC Beachhead
• lower legs: 25th Falcon

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/a76ef391.jpg
EARLY V2 STORM SHADOW
For this dude, the 25th version failed on so many levels. A reused v1 figure with a different head just didn't cut it for me. The upper arms are from an Indiana Jones Cairo Thug with a Renegades Storm Shadow head and torso. Upper legs are Resolute Storm Shadow's with the lower legs from a comic pack Stormy. I still need to do some dremel work on the lower legs to get the knees to work right...

No they're pretty amazing, I believe the tank may just be snoozin' there'sa whole time difference. Plus it is a school night after all. I like Bomb strike, if I don't catch wind of them making her by the end of the year, I'll steal your recipe, if you don't mind? :)

Thanks for the encouragement guys :D here's my reworked Jinx...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/9c608ace.jpg
I'll have to wait to get some Testor's red paint to work on her some more. Tamiya paint sucks and I will never use it again! Such crap. Just gonna redo the torso and paint up the feet. Gonna RIT dye the arms red so I don't have that pesky paint rub issue. Of course, once I get my SDCC red Jinx, this bitch will probably be my first ever custom that I sell... if anyone wants her lol :D

Added some brushed steel paint apps (dry brushed) to my Night Viper's shoulder plates, elbow pads and lower legs gauntlets...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/0504640e.jpg
Decided to go a different route on the body parts. And for making the rifle attach to the figure KINDA like the arah version...

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/139170d4.jpg
That 25th "v3" Snake Eyes sling comes in very handy as a belt :)
Gonna add paint apps to the leg straps and I shaved off the knife sheath on the right leg. I'll just throw a pouch or something on there instead. A clear coat on the whole figure and then I'll be ready to do the cobra logo on the chest and the night viper patch on the arm. It's turning out a lot better than I imagined. Here's a pic before paint apps (with helmet)...

Excellent stuff, man! Glad to finally see some of you work.
I don't much care for Tamiya either. Testors seems to go on so much smoother and doesn't chip as easily. Tamiya might go on smoother with their thinner, as I read somewhere recently that it doesn't thin quite as well as Testors does with Windex (what I use) or Distilled Water.
Keep up the work, man!
looking good so far baggins, cant wait to see how stormy turns out

Did you fix Outback's "giraffe neck" issue? I can't tell from the pics. It's one of the things that bugged me the most about that figure. I'm looking forward to the SS v2 finished product. Also, I really like the new legs on Flint!

I really wanted to use the first torso as well, but the female Marvel upper torso is so small that there was nothing to really glue and hold it together. I might try to use some green stuff though to hold it all in place. It keeps calling to me...

Oddly, my Outback didn't have that issue. Not that I could tell anyway. I still haven't gotten around to dremeling out the lower legs of that SS but now that I see there's a lot of interest in him, it'll give me motivation :) And I can't claim any amount of fame for the leg choice for Flint - Cloud Strife knows what I'm talking about, lol

Couple of shots of another custom in the works. Still need to do some painting on the neck and knees but other than that, I think I'm ready to put a clear coat on him. This is one I've been planning on making for a long time now :)

Digging the mods to Ren. SS. Now that i look at mine, the upper legs look small now.I like the baggy ninja look. Can the Ren lower legs fit on the resolute thighs? or did you just not like them?
Side note:Love the sig. I would feel so bad for her at a Con.I don't care who you are, thats sexy as hell. Slave Leia who?
TEMPLAR BAGGINS
05-19-2012, 01:46 AM
Nope, the Renegades lowers won't fit the Resolute uppers. Either there will be a huge gap in the knee joint of the upper legs (using Ren knees) or you'll have to carve out the Ren lowers to accept the Resolute knees. All in all, just a giant waste of time. Trust me - I've tried them both.
I wanted to use the Resolute uppers and the comic pack bamboo lowers as that would have given me the perfect look I was going for. Alas, the customizing gods didn't see it the same way. Hell, I even tried cutting apart the bamboo powers to splice them with the Resolute lowers... that ended very badly.

Nice work, for the Jinx I liked that original torso you showed on her. The white with the red design.

It's been a while, but I'm back with a small accessory add-on for my SDCC Jinx. Here to help me, is my new kitten - Luca. YouTube "Rage Quit No Luca No" and you'll understand why I call him that.
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/3bde4b29.jpg
So, originally I was gonna use a female Marvel figure sash. It wouldn't slip on past the thighs (Jinx has thunder thighs), so I had to get "creative". Well, that didn't fit the way I wanted it to, so I guess the point of me doing this was pretty pointless...
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/6841409b.jpg
The sash is a Resolute Storm Shadow belt with a Renegades Storm Shadow red belt knot glued on. Here it is before paint...

these are great Pics! I love the Psyche out! always liked the idea of psyche out but didnt like the figure and colors..yours is ALOT better! Also dig that Falcon...wish he was available!
got a question for you?.. what do you do to the figures so the paint isnt sticky on the figures?...I have testors and the right paint but my figures still get sticky even after drying...frustrating me...I'vetried washing them with rubbing alcohol and also tried hot water and dish soap....still sticky... i havent painted for months because i just keep messing up my figures...

Are you using testor's model master acrylics? I've never had an issue with mine using testors. Now Tamiya, on the other hand... yeah that stuff sucks.
And I might have the parts available to make another Falcon :)
BTW, Psyche Out isn't painted yet. I love garish bright neon colors, but I'll tone it down a bit for him.

Make sure you are using acrylic paints and not enamel, enamel paint will always be sticky....

Hey guys, back again with some more customs.
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/B10AA34D-9E26-45C4-808C-2D4BF14FEEB8-493-0000006FFA9FD97F.jpg
I wanted to do as little painting as possible with Recoil. Still have some things to paint and I need to order a hat for him from Raginspoon. Used modified 7 pack desert CG upper legs and 25th Red Star lowers. Cut the ponytail off of Buzzer and it looks spot on to me. Whole upper torso is a 7 pack desert Viper.
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/D69B1573-C226-4CF0-9B58-BB88921CBD3D-493-0000006FFEEC491B.jpg
I was never happy with Hasbro's attempt at Crazylegs'... legs. Complete laziness on their part. Went with the 7 pack desert Viper upper legs and UBP Short Fuze legs. Besides a slight color difference, I'm very happy with my Crazylegs now. Still want to figure out a knife and grenade combo; maybe use a 25th "v3" Snake Eyes chest knife and a grenade on the parachute harness? If I could only get a ARAH gun stock without having to buy a complete figure on eBay :D
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/20AF6117-142C-4493-813A-0D4AB9CBA497-493-0000007003094B6D.jpg
Took me FOREVER to figure out what kind of body I wanted to use for a Resolute Falcon; I chose to go with a Resolute Arctic Duke body because it just "spoke" to me. So it wouldn't look so "arctic", I chose not to use a hood. Still undecided how I want to paint him - if at all. Kinda like the color pallet as it is.
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/97F48E1C-DBC2-423F-AE71-2B29EC1586CA-493-0000007007A241BD.jpg
I decided to try my hand at an early Retaliation Crimson Guard. Until I get the proper parts, I used what I had available. Still looking for a set of Hardmaster upper legs and a red removable helmet.
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/shockwave-the-magnificent/D0C358F6-E1EB-4EF2-800B-6968C2D23287-493-000000700CA5D67E.jpg

Easily my favorite piece from Hasbro's concept vault is the updated Snow Serpent. Much like Kwinn and Data Viper, though, I'm not holding my breath for them to actually make it. Especially not when the main body was already a canceled Duke to begin with.
The jacket is from a ROC figure and I feel it looks almost identical to the concept design. Really glad I hung on to it now. I wanted a removable helmet (like with all my customs) and the Star Wars pilot helmet seemed to fit the bill. I trimmed off the hoses and gave it some POC Dusty goggles. Still have some painting to do and I want to really outfit this guy with gear, so I'll be revisiting him in a future post.
Thanks for looking :)
