What was the vehicle that you just absolutely hated once you got it?

For me it was the APC. That was one of the most worthless of the joe line. I think I may have played with it once when I got it for Christmas. After that it was the vehicle that my less useful joes were in when Cobra blew them up to start the war.

the cobra battle barge was about bullshit, the snake armor couldve been waaaaaay better, and that VvV mech had such potential... but it ate total ass too.

Anything with the words "Battle Force 2000" on it. I just never cared for anything in that line. Yes, that includes the Vector Jet which folks seem to be fond of.

For modern? The Mechs were a huge disappointment. I tried to like them, but they have been relegated to sitting under my desk.....

Hmmm... great question!

I would have to say the Silver Mirage motorcycle. Looked cool as hell on the package, but I got it home and the damn thing constantly fell apart! It would just lay in pieces on the battlefield. Eventually I just gave it to my cousin. What a POS.

And it was a shame 'cause I used to love this really cheezy early 80's B-movie called "Warrior of the Lost World" with a guy and his talking motorcycle, Einstein, taking on the evil forces of the Omega! That's what I wanted!

There are more vehicles I hate until I get them, and then I love them. This includes the Super Sonic Fort America, BF 2000 Pulverizer, and DEMON

In answer to your question: the Battle Barge sucked all the way as being completely useless. The Rat was a huge disappointment with its hollow shell, and the Storm Eagle was way so ridiculously small it didn't even have a real cockpit.

I liked all the BF 2000 vehicles except for the Dominator snow tank. That was the one I had the most hope in since it was a tank, but was pretty terrible.

Vintage line I couldnt stand was the FANG II b/c my propellers on mine would never stay in place they would constantly flop downwards. It looked cool, but just got on my nerves.

Newer vehicles i would have to say it was the Tigerhawk from the VvV line. I thought the barrel roll action on it was stupid. That is one vehicle i do regret buying and actually taking out of the package.

I definitely wasn't a fan of the Rat either. It reminded me of something a Flintstone's villain would have driven. If the driver's feet ever came into contact with the carpet or grass he was a goner...

I don't remember hating anything when I was a kid. The Battle Copters frustrated me because there was no tail rotor to keep the thing from spinning wildly out of contol; and, inevitably the Pilots legs were ripped to shreds on impact. Seriously, who designed that thing!?! I did enjoy placing it at a hover over the AC unit's cooling tower while the fan was running.

I did have a Tomahawk though. And you know what! IT HAD A TAIL ROTOR!!! It pivoted in its socket. What the heck!?! Who was designing these helicopters!?! With Dual Rotors, like the CH-47, the tail rotor isn't necessary...

Good topic, but I could not disagree with you more. I loved the APC. It held all your Joes (doubled as a carry case), it floated, and rolled down a hill great. The back bumper was a carrying handle. I loved that thing. I still have mine from my childhood and it held up great. Very simple design, gun turret on the top, lap belts for the figures. It even got the Night Force Treatment later on.
Great Vehicle...

The dragonfly can be forgiven, it had that little knob on the back which I just used as a NOTAR exhaust. After all McDonnell Douglas was designing the NOTAR concept in the seventies.

It's the Mobat for me. It was and is a green brick to me. It had the motor gimmick and not much play value for figure interaction. I was thrilled when the Mauler made its appearance in 85. Though it get's props for rubber treads, and of course, being a decent first tank of the series.

Viper6

did NOTAR compensate for lack of tail rotor?! it may have, im just ignorant...or where you saying as an explanation of what that knob was? really wish the 25th dragonfly had been legit and not microsized as well.

I liked every vehicle I was fortunate to have as a kid. I never bothered getting the Silver Mirage because the 2 kids I knew that had them would bring them in to play with at recess during school, and they also both fell apart and were pretty lame. The RAM was much better.

1) The Mean Dog- terrible pos..I thought it looked cool on the box but when I got it out and saw it, it justs end up in the conre of my roomr till I gave up joes a few years later and tossed it
2) Thunderclap- same reason as above
3) Rolling Thunder- again looked friggen awesome on the box but then once put together BLAH terrible, it became a boat one rainy season and went down the stomr drain lol
4) The Defiant Space Launch complex- was to friggen big, was heavy, the crawler totally fell appart, the gantry was poorly deisgned and fell apart, and the space ships were good to start lifting weights with...it also ended up just sitting in the conrer of the grarage till my dad backed his truck over it...that was the end of the Defiant...

NO way the the MAGGOT sucks! It has the ability to split into 3 sections, 1 a recon tank, 2nd a forwarding station for the massive howitzer and the Howitzer itself. This tank was meant for total devastation from long rang for the Joes.

I'm not sure I have a "hated" vehicle to be honest. I was on a tight budget as a nipper so had to think carefully before picking up a vehicle. As such, it was something I really wanted and liked. I guess the only thing that comes close is the Silver Mirage. It just didn't look very 'military', and didn't hold together too well. I was back with the "Rapid Fire Motorcycle" in no time.

Agree to disagree...I loved the Battle Wagon! You could fit so many Joes on that thing. Looking back on it though, it's a huge tactical "NO GO". I mean really, an Orange Turret with an exposed Gunner, who, oh by the way is sitting (as per the scale) roughly 15 feet in the air. Yeah, that's an easy target, from the ground or air. I've still got mine though and I'm gonna' get it cleaned up for operation once my boy is old enough to not be interested in eating it...

The Locust chopper it comes with is pretty cool, but it currently occupies the helipad on my Battle Platform. Major Storm is currently commanding Rolling Thunder from its giant turret.

For me it was the APC. That was one of the most worthless of the joe line.

How funny. . . the APC is one of my favorite vintage vehicles. It was the closest thing the Joes had to any kind of semi-mobile command-like vehicle. I managed to buy one MIB last year and it was so awesome to just put the stickers on it. :)

I started back in 82-83, so I loved the military look of the early years. When things started getting over the top and neon, I lost interest in GI Joe.

I remember not being crazy about the Slugger and S.H.A.R.C. They were about the only two vehicles I could ever do without.

I really thought the Conquest was a lame follow up to the Sky Striker.

I guess the Recon Sled was about the time I started wondering about the direction of GI Joe. . . along with the Triple T.

But the 87 line is where it went down hil for me. Buzz Boar, Costal Defender, Jet Pack, Persuader, Pogo, and Road Toad. I liked the Sea Ray and loved the Wolf, but I had never disliked more vehicles than liked in GI Joe before.

I dont think I ever bought another joe vehicle until Sigma 6 2.5 line. Which I loved :(

Oh yeah I tend to try and not rember this rediculous vehicle, add that to my list as number 1!...with the way the guys ride on top of it like a stage coach and the huge canopy with all of that wasted space just so the joes can lay down and look at some computer screen righ tint hier faces lol...

What was the vehicle that you just absolutely hated once you got it?

For me it was the APC. That was one of the most worthless of the joe line. I think I may have played with it once when I got it for Christmas. After that it was the vehicle that my less useful joes were in when Cobra blew them up to start the war.

How can you hate the APC!? I have 3 or 4, great for carrying all your joes into battle and it doubled as a carrying case to take them over to your friends house (The rear bumper is a handle for those who have never had one)!!

I dislike the Neon vehicles.

Dreadnok Air Skiff

I must admit I just sold almost all of my childhood vehicles and it broke my heart, but I feel the need to post her cause I still love them.

Bridge layer.......I always thought it was weird because it was unrealistic, but I loved it anyway. Turns out the military really had them. It got a lot of play.

Mobat was good for sitting in the headquarters....would have been worthless without the hq.

Snake .....was a waste I never played with it.

Flagg. I understand what people are complaining about. When I opened it as a kid I was confused because it was so cheap, but it was so awesome. I loved every inch of it. I had the room for it and never had to move it. I loved that.

Sharc the seat always frustrated me but I loved the design.

Fang was good for the bad guys but I never understood the open cockpit. I always shot it down fast.

Hiss, again I never understood the figure right behind the twin barrels. It was a great toy though. I like the poc design better for the turret. The hiss was cool though.

Snowcat was awesome but the skipedos were weird to me. But I loved that vehicle.

As a kid I never understood how the mms would function in combat..... 3 missiles and than what, just leave it, but I played a lot with it.

Flak was only cool next to the hq.

Loved the apc but never understood how the cannon was mounted on the cloth top. Still a great vehicle though. One of the hardest to sell.....emotionally.

3. Battle Barge ( I never knew what the fu#k it did)

The Pogo. I actually liked it in the comic, but I thought the toy was awful. The legs always fell off of mine, and it seemed like it should have been spring-loaded or something.

jogunwarrior

The Pogo was always werid to me in that I never really knew how to use it. Did I have it fly, did I have it just hop around? It wasn't until the Invader was released as part of the Star Brigade line that I was able to actually use the Pogo, it made for a great Lunar landing craft.

And since it came out around the same time as the Defiant, and Stiletto, I wonder if that wasn't some Hasbro designers intention in the first place. The colors are even similar to the Astro Viper

You can't be serious.

The MMS is probably the most realistic "vehicle" or playset GI Joe ever made. In real life, real combat, everything isn't "front line" action. The Hawk missle system is a surface to air missle, well behind the "front lines". In other words, it wouldn't be hauled to the edge of the battle field for use. It's a defensive weapon.

This is the GI Joe MMS...

I hated most of the vehicles as after only a few battles they were broken or had missing pieces. MCC, Silver Mirage, Rattler, Tomahawk, HAVOC, Rolling Thunder. All great toys but broke so easily and you were left with a very expensive wreck.

The best were the early sturdy vehicles, which we got in England as repaints, HISS, VAMP, APC.

It's the Mobat for me. It was and is a green brick to me. It had the motor gimmick and not much play value for figure interaction. I was thrilled when the Mauler made its appearance in 85. Though it get's props for rubber treads, and of course, being a decent first tank of the series.

Blasphemy! I don't know you anymore!

2005 GI Joe Moray Hydrofoil- usually with Hasbro products, if the design is unappealing the quality control overall is good. Not so with this one. I never owned any previous Moray but the 2005 one is honestly garbage. Paper stickers aren't cool but that's just the surface! Parts that were supposed to be drilled in or punched out weren't pushed through all the way, most parts were flimsy, tolerances were random all over the mold and overall it was the worst Xmas present I have ever bought for myself. It's in pieces somewhere now. I could not believe how terrible that toy was, I was astonished. Maybe the original had much better quality control because people tell me it's bad ass but avoid the hell out of the 2005 one. I remember there were numerous ones that didn't even include all the parts. It was marked down during xmas for $20. The only good things to come out of it were Night Force Flint and Beachhead.

Spy Troops Sky Sweeper- what the hell was I thinking? I always dug the F-117 Nighthawk, it looked bad ass. At the time I eagerly wanted a new Joe jet so I bought the Sky Sweeper. Blech. Looks like an F-117 for Playskool, like a stealth tadpole with wings. Quality control is good and the landing gear are sufficiently tall, but it was a small boring toy designed around its escape capsule gimmick. Had it been bigger, and way more sleeker and streamlined it would've looked better and had space to incorporate more gimmicks.

I LOL'd when Hasbro repainted that sucker and charged $10 more dollars for it for ROC as the Crimson Hydra. Booooooooooooooooo.

Hmmm... great question!

I would have to say the Silver Mirage motorcycle. Looked cool as hell on the package, but I got it home and the damn thing constantly fell apart! It would just lay in pieces on the battlefield. Eventually I just gave it to my cousin. What a POS.

Oh yeah the missles on the sidecar would never stay in place, the rubber tires never had good traction that it was a dissapiontment when rolling in on the carpet and plus that stupid back shield I suppose to protect whichever Joe was riding to not hurt their backs.

I never had this one but I think the Cobra Pogo thing was a POS, stupid design and my hats off to Larry Hama for trying to make sense of it in the comic.

I always hated the recon sled. The wheels on the one i had never rolled properly, and the thing just looked stupid.

also, the mudbuster and ice snake were kinda crappy. i didn't like that they shared canopy pieces and looked like they came from a dollar store. also, i didn't like how paper stickers were so widely used back in the tail end of the line.

Sorry don't get me wrong. the battle wagon is AMAZING. you could fit so many joes in it. it looks cool. it shoots missiles! but to the 10 year old me... worthless. the slow speed and strange noise it made when pushed manually just ruined it for me.

The APC is one of the best vehicles of the line IMO but it has the fatal flaw of not allowing the figures to wear their backpacks while seated with the canopy still attached. As such you find yourself just sort of throwing your team of Joes into the back rather than actually having them sit down in the seats.

I agree with the Rat and the Patriot being amongst the worst vehicles. Battle Copters are indeed up there too. The battle Copters don't have any defenses if I recall either. Sure the figures came with guns but how can they grasp both handles of the copter and fire their rifle at the same time?

The LCV recon sled. I couldn't figure out what the hell to do with it, and then I got a second one at a birthday party (along with a second, much more useful Ferret). Is it made for lazier Joes who don't like crawling on all fours through the brush?
