What was the purpose of Destro wearing his IG uniform in the Cobra vs Coil War?

His other costume was at the dry cleaners (patta pa!)

Probably to play it safe. If he shows who's side he's on, he could lose his business interest as their weapons supplier...

Whaddja think?

The 70's called they wanted their pimp suit back (sound of rimshot)

Probably wanted both sides that he was neutral.

In all seriousness, I think AJ and rob0213 are on dead on.

I think at that time he was neutral. A little before that he had worked with the Joe team on rescueing the Baroness when she was captured with Flint. So at that time he wasn't working for Cobra, so would be natural for him to be in his IG uniform.

Now that I think about it, I don't think he worked for Cobra at all during the entire DDP run. It was his son, Alexander, posing as him in the beginning episodes.

It wouldn't be a cobra civil war without it.

besides Devil's Due always loved to throw in easter eggs like that for the fans, If it was in the Marvel run or the cartoon, they were re using it.

I can think of a couple big reasons.

One it was a homage to the original Cobra Civil War... you have GI Joe fully engaged with Coil when Destro makes his beach landing (an homage to how things played out in the first civil war)

Secondly as stated it shows a sense of neutrality, Cobra Commander promised Destro that his debt would be fullfilled if he intervened this last time. So while Destro was working with Cobra and leading them at the moment... it was a sign "once I'm done this it's back to my own life".
