Stormavik vs. Repeater GIJOE March Madness 2012
The Oktober Guard often operates internationally, protecting and promoting Soviet and Warsaw Pact interests. Despite the fact their respective countries are rivals with the United States during the Cold War, the members of the Oktober Guard are never portrayed as evil, but as military professionals doing their job and serving their country. Their missions often put them at odds with G.I. Joe, but opposing Cobra is a major objective for the squad, and when the situation arises, they often find themselves temporarily allied with the Joes against a common foe.
Repeater
Repeater is the G.I. Joe Team's steadi-cam machine gunner. His real name is Jeffrey R. Therien, and was born in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Repeater's primary military specialty is infantry, and his secondary military specialty is heavy weapons. Repeater had twenty years of top-notch field performance in the Army, although he never did well in the garrison. However, out in the bush he is the one who brings the other grunts back home alive.

This one was a tough one for me. I'd love to see them both made. I'll take Oktober guard over an '88 Joe.

Already got an Aliens smart gun with the IG trooper. No real need for Repeater yet as far as I'm concerned.

This was kind of a tough one. Repeater is one of the very few post-'87 Joes that was still worth getting even though my interest was waning, but I still have to vote for the Guard (especially the original 5).

Sticking to Oktober Guard all the way...even though Hasbro said they would never do it.
Repeater is another guy I think we'll get either in a FSS or 7=Pk...he reminds me of one of Dutch's crew from Predator.

kinda a disappointing pairing. I would like to vote for at least all of the original guard. However, after Covergirl (FSS), Jinx (SDCC), and Footloose (MC), there aren't many umade Joes I'd consider more important than repeater. Muskrat, Iceberg (limited to arctic), and Psyche-out (terrible outfit though) are comparible, but thats about it.

screw the guard! we need more of the 88 line, which i think is under rated! repeater was one of the best figures made IMO

As cool as Repeater was/is, I'd rather get POC/30th quality re-dos of Rock & Roll and or v1 Roadblock. In general, I'd rather see better quality versions of a lot of the top tier Joes instead of seeing the new tooling go to second string characters.
Both Repeater and Stormavik are fairly conventional designs, so with the shift towards more realistic figures & weaponry in Retaliation it shouldn't be too much trouble to piece together either a heavy machine gunner or a Soviet airborne trooper.

When did Hasbro say this?

It has been stated in several Hasbro Q&As that, while they love the characters, they have no plans to produce more Oktober Guard figures.
Maybe this will finally be the year that they change their minds. Cold War themed video games have been selling pretty well.

I can't believe that Stormavik is losing.

They were biggest "I wish they made them" figures back in the 80's. My desire to have them has not lessened and I will continue asking for them.

I'm actually impressed that he is doing as well as he is. Repeater is one of the most popular post-Sunbow Joes.
