I bought the first issue of the Corps comic book, but don't remember any subsequent issues ever coming out. I remember it not feeling like however I thought a Corps comic should have felt like though what exactly that is I can't say for sure, lol!

Just the first issue.
Kind of funny, Rick Remender was the writer of that. If The Corps! came out today with him as the writer, it would do much better because he's pretty popular right now.

I remember reading an article where he was talking about it and I liked the direction he was going. I just never saw the thing at my local shops and didn't think enough of it to go looking for it. But now I'm interested.

I can't seem to find a copy on ebay. Anybody know any online comic shops that sell it?

Yeah. From Devil's Due. After they lost the Joe license, and IDW came out with new Joe books, DDP tried doing a CORPS! book.

I really wish it would have worked. I also wish the modern Corps figures weren't so bad.

You can just think of them as advanced figures from the 80's who come to us through a time portal!

I was really looking forward to this comic series about The Corps when I got the preview issue. Was there ever an explanation on why the series didn't go through? I searched all over and there is very little information available about it on the web. None of my emails to DDP got answered...

Sales were probably a big part. No reason to do a comic series if it won't sell enough to justify the (meager) license.
I also wouldn't be surprised if Lanard themselves weren't an issue. They've always struck me as "leeches" who'll ride on whatever's popular (hence, the brand new Shinobi squad in the Corps toyline), but lack a vision to drive a brand on its own.
