According to IGN, DJ Cotrona who is playing Flint in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, almost got the part of John McClain's son in the upcoming "Die Hard" film. According to the article Cotrona almost probably would have got the part if he wasn't co-starring with Bruce Willis in the next Joe film.

The thread title is a bit misleading. I thought this was supposed to be actual news regarding GI Joe Retaliation.

Didnt mean for it to be misleading, just attention grabbing. Thought it was some worthy what-almost-was info.
