The Annual is 40 pages you do the math. Plus IDW needs the money.

Yeah, tangible copy for me too. Digital comics will never get anywhere near my collection.

I find the idea of Joe 'Annuals' making a comeback rather cool, so I don't mind paying the extra. The sales will probably be lower than the main book too, so that's probably another reason for the 'higher' price.

My plan is to have a garage sale this summer and off load the majority of my longboxes. If I sell longboxes for even $20, I'll have enough for a Kindle Fire by lunchtime.

I'll probably keep a handful of my Joe books, though.

just checked and the Annual is $7.99 in the GI JOE Comics App on my iPad.....i'll wait til it drops.

just got #175 for $1.99, digital is awesome!

i was surprised, but i actual prefer the frame by frame read and the hand feel of reading on my iPad vs print.

also, i can keep up vs. waiting for the TPBs

i still bought all the Classics in TPB form as well as Special Missions.

actually, i just pre-ordered the Special Missions Boxed Set, SM is that awesome plus it will act as a bookend! :D

i'm only keeping up with the ARAH continuation at this point, and digital is great for that.

I assume the higher per-page pricepoint is because the Annual is bound like a trade paperback. It has the thick cover, and words written on the (very thin) spine. I'm sure the binding costs more than the couple staples they use on a regualr 24-page issue, plus the cover is more durable/higher quality (read: higher cost) than a standard cover.

Because comic companies keep thinking if they milk the price they will make more profits.

Actually I also think its an after effect of the raising of the prices in the "Boom" era, cause if they were to bring prices back down companies would be admitting to gouging (which I have always felt they did) and it would end up being a PR nightmare.
