I was never a huge fan of Serpentor. I loved the concept... but the whole green and gold color thing just didn't fit with Cobra. The snake motif costume was overdone and, really, the "Emperor" thing just didn't fly with me. The young me thought the Chariot was pretty slick, though.

I like the idea of Serpentor crafted as a the military leader and tactician and not so much the leader of Cobra Command as a whole (that's Cobra Commander).

Anyway, this is an easy "custom" (to be honest, I wouldn't even call it that because we have some genuine custom work here that just kicks so much butt).

It's just a head swap. I did a little line work on the helmet. I thought the gold accents worked well with Serpentors identifying feature (the snake helmet). I like it a little better without the cape, but might work up a single-shoulder style later.

Anyway, here's General Serpentor. Hope you enjoy.

The gold isn't quite a match for his belts and holster and such, but that's what gave me the idea.

Since the helmet is so soft, I'm not sure how well paint would take to it. I would like to redo the helmet, belts, etc into another color (maybe with some gold accents) mostly to get more contrast against his face. Right now he fits in pretty well with the rest of the command staff.

Since the helmet is so soft, I'm not sure how well paint would take to it. I painted my Serpentor helmet. I use Testors Model Masters Acrylics. DO NOT use enamels, and you should be fine.

don't be offended, I'm not hating at all but I just don't like it. The body just screams Cobra Commander to me. I do agree that Serpentor needs more of a general appearance rather than an emperor. That being said it's a better custom of serpentor than I have ever pulled off, it's just not my taste.

I'm not offended. Interesting that it screams CC when it's a CG body :D

Longcoat? Jodhpurs? What looks more General-like?

Im a fan of SERPENTOR, Im the one that did the BATTLE ARMOR SERPENTOR. I thought about doing a "general" and I was going to implement different kinds of military garb from history to make him look like a general. I still may, But think along the lines of roman troops, huns, french napoleonic...etc..and thats where i was going...
Anything from serpentors past, he would love and wear into battle..

That's definitely a good take, too. I was looking at it more of a General's uniform rather than comfort clothes, if you get my meaning. So it should match the troops but maybe have a fancy hat and a few more fancy accessories (like epaulets or cuffs, etc). Just making my Serpentor more of a traditional military man rather than nostalgic or a costumed supervillain.

"I'll even buy you the hat. A really big one!"

I'm working on a General Serpentor too. I always felt his outfit was too clownish.

what would look really cool is if someone were to make a custom of Serpentor that was similar to the convention King Greyskull. Ancient looking but still badass and reminiscent of the modern look.

I agree completely with your concept of Serpentor. As a general he works, as an Emperor, not so much. The body does not scream cobra commander to me, it just looks like a cobra officer uniform. The only thing I see is that the Serpentor head is a bit too large for that body.
I had started work on a General Serpentor a while back as well. He is still unfinished waiting for me to find some suitable armor parts and accessories. Here's a link if anyone is interested http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-customs/6894-general-serpentor-wip.html

Well, the helmet makes his head look big. Seems to be the right size without it. Maybe he just needs a longer neck.

As a head swap, I'm ok with it. I think I like it enough to take it a couple steps further with some paint to take it from an officer uniform to the commanding officer uniform. I lack a lot of essentials - materials, space to do the work, talent...
