looking through the star wars crap and came upon this. LOL pretty horrible even for a "switcharoo" standards. The box was mangled in the back and taped back together making it extremely obvious. Whoever excepted this item back was mental.

i was the victom of a firefly/ stormshadow comic pack switch. the monster put an old firefly in, took all the gear for the new one, swiped most of stormshadow's, and even when so far as to replace his dusty stormshdow stand with the new one. there should be a special place in hell for people that do this sort of thing

I just posted about this happening in the St. Louis Metro area in the Illinois sightings thread. It's despicable. It's hard to blame the stores, though, since they aren't exactly toy enthusiasts that are accepting them back. The only hope you have is by telling the store manager about the problem and that they need to keep an eye out for it. Honestly, though, they are probably more worried about shoplifting that a $10 repack.

Wow...Tigpoppa's long arm even stretches to the WalMarts on Cobra Island. At least he put an Obi-Wan back in.

Not mental...Just don't know and/or don't care..
I've been fortunate not to see this in my area so far..but it's only a matter of time I think before I do.

Haven't seen one in the wild myself, but some of these are pretty funny looking.

Ooh...I NEVER want to see one of these. I'd hate to think I live in an area with a collector who does this.

I always say in these threads, it is collectors, not scalpers, who do this sort of thing. It will not surprise me if sometime in the near future, stores stop accepting "collectible" toys as returns because of stuff like this.

I did see something that took me back to the 80's, though. Tonight at Wal-Mart I saw a 25th Gung-Ho and Wave 9 Hawk fullcard hanging on the pegs. Someone had ripped the action figures and bubbles off and pocketed them, no doubt. Growing up, I saw a lot of stuff like that but I don't think I've ever seen it as an adult collector.

Seen that done A LOT here! Bought them at first but once we realized what was going on we just opened them up and let my kids play with them. Had i known then i wouldn't had made that purchase. Oh well live and learn. LoL

People are getting really bad these days.

Not quite sure if this type of thing is going to stop anytime soon.

I had a moment with a TRU employee who argued with me that there wasn't a repack, when there was.

Once I said I was a nerd collector, he became buddies with me, and told me it was cool, that he played Magic the Gathering.

Like they're related. Haha. Wait...

I've seen a CG 5-pack repack with crap from the TRU SRO 3-pack, and mostly opened comic packs where some douche had taken the accessories, or the Doc points, but no single-packs yet.

The comic packs are fairly easy to open and hide due to the stupid tape, so double check any taped edges, because it's easier to hide items taken from the DVD packs, vehicles, comic packs, etc.

I think its crappy but I think that people feel by doing this they are sticking it to the stores for their markups and to the companies. What most don;t realise is that these stores will usually put them back out on shelves if they determine nothing is wrong with it and wait for it to sell, which most of the time it will just peg warm thus blocking valueable shelf space for new product. What many repackers don't seem to realize is that there are TONS of customizers out there that would buy there unwanted figures for fodder. If i have figures i dont want i will trade them off or they go under the chopping block to make some awesome customs or go to others to help them make customs. repacks no neccesary ya know.

Here's one that's even worse than many of the GI Joe figure swaps, WalMart accepted a return where someone switched an actual Ipod for another mp3 player:

Always Low Prices. Always.: Walmart Unwittingly Sells iPod Nano Knockoff as Actual iPod (http://gizmodo.com/5059293/walmart-unwittingly-sells-ipod-nano-knockoff-as-actual-ipod)

That had to be an inside job. When you return major electronics like that they check the serial number upon return. ( a buddy of mine tried to return a PS2 to a random walmart so he could get a 360 when they first came out. They told him to kick rocks as the serial # on the PS2 didnt match anything they sold from their store) Also, they wont let you return an open item like that, only exchange it and then they wouldnt put said exchanged item back on the shelf it would go back to apple and be re-sold as a refurb. My guess is a night stocker did a quick swap with some items that rolled out of the truck.
