It's funny how Hollywood still sometimes doesn't grasp that "little things" can make all the difference to hardcore fans.

Hint that Lady Jaye and Flint have a romance in Retaliation = Fans are excited.

Say that Snake-Eyes and Scarlett are "like brother and sister" in RoC= Fans are not excited.

Faceplate on Cobra Commander = Fans excited.

Lips on Snake-Eyes = Fans not excited (even if it's right off of arguably his most famous action figure, it still looks silly)

But anyway, I think it's pretty much undoubtable that the cast and crew seem MUCH more "engaged" this time around, and either seem to have actually done some homework on the characters, or have been very well-coached to seem like they've done their homework. Most of the people on RoC were more along the lines of "Har har I'm a little plastic man har har." I honestly believe it when they say Marlon Wayans and Ray Park were practically the only "Joe fans" on the cast. Say what you will about the casting decision, but Marlon at least put forth some genuine effort in portraying his character. Though honestly, I blame most of the poor performances in RoC on Sommers, because pretty much all the actors/actresses involved have proven they can be good (even excellent) when they bring their A-game. Yes, even Tatum.

Yeah, they may flub-up occasionally (I think DJ Cotrona called it "Revolution" instead of "Resolute" when thinking of the Resolute mini-series -- Or the "anime G.I. Joe" as he referred to it) but it's clear they're still genuinely aware of what they're talking about even if the fine details sometimes elude them.

Meh, I don't need this. Neither seem like the classic characters outside of this, so why not skip the classic romance?

Until they're photographed wearing their respective head gear, I won't accept them as their characters. Ever.

Wow, you must be like, the most insightful trailer-viewer EVER!

Point being, it's a little hard to claim what they seem like when you haven't seen the actual movie yet. In fact, at least in Lady Jaye's case, I can point out aspects from the trailer that seem very much like the "classic" Lady Jaye.

Jesus, calm down.

Judging from the toys and what we've seen from the trailer, no, they don't really feel like short-haird, spear-throwing LJ, and Flint ... oh, nevermind.

I don't think it's quite a leap to say they'll be different.

Are they going to do it?

I would venture that's the ONLY reason they'd have their romance. Which, you know, would fulfill the dirty dreams of a million fanboys.

Larry Hama always had a against the grain approach to Joe. In his story, it was SE and Scarlett. Duke was hardly even mentioned.

Hama hated Cobra La. He actually somehow drew the line in the sand and still was able to keep his job. We all know G.I.Joe in comics was a commercial vehicle for Hasblo and Hama absolutely would not write Cobra La into the scope of things.

However, in his story, Flint and Lady Jaye had a thing going on. Just like the cartoon.

Has anyone ever thought about that because in the cartoon which Hasblo had absolute authority over wrote Duke with Scarlett so you know if they had the power, they would have wanted the stories to remain consistent as to not to confuse enthusiasts.

Hama apparently like the chemistry between the characters to maintain the established lore I imagine though I don't think he was every been quizzed on this little factoid.

I just thought that was worth pointing out. Anyone else ever think of this?

At least renegades tried for a strong relationship between snake eyes and scarlet as a team. Only later to switch to duke after scarlets near death experience with a cave in.
At least it was believable.

Something kind of trolling about them doing all these celebrity interviews at the toy fair display. I'm just puzzled why all these guys made an appearance at toy fair.

What on earth is "trolling" about them doing interviews at Toy Fair?

It's been pretty common practice for stars of movies with big toy tie-ins to "pop in" to Toy Fair just like this for at least a few years now (Last year it was Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth for Captain America and Thor, respectively). I think Ryan Reynolds made an appearance for the Green Lantern line, too. I might be wrong but I vaguely recall that Shia Lebeouf might have shown up to push one of the Transformers movie lines, too...

I mean, sure it's shameless marketing, but it's exactly the kind of shameless marketing we should expect from Hollywood by now. They bring in the actors to draw in some media outside of just the toy websites, which gets more attention for both the toy line and the movie.

Of course, it's all marketing - both for the movie and the toys.
Noting bad about it.

Hmm, I always thought Susan Sarandon, but Raquel's good too. Lady Jaye did have long hair in the comics sometimes, depending on the artist, tho my personal preference is for short...

Definitely agree one the tits, lol...:D
