Wow! Voltron to GI Joe Comparison.

I subscribed to the Lion Force Subscription from Mattel and did not realize that when completely formed, Voltron will be huge. This is just his Right Arm. This is one of the smaller lions too and he is the size of the freaking M.O.B.A.T.!

That piece is actually dagger for the lion that I was describing. The Blue Handle for the Blazing Sword is in the package with the figure, but I cannot remember where. I hope that you did not get left out by Matty on it.

I got mine yesterday.

I was impressed by the size of the Red Lion and imagining how big Voltron will be. Also, while some aren't happy with the quality of the Lance action figure (quality versus price, anyway) I'm OK with it.

It just irks me that yet again there will be a Voltron series with no actual villains for him to fight. Sadly I don't see this sub having the success necessary to continue it next year. I'd love it if they did Build-A-Robeast sets of, say, the first Robeast Voltron fights with five of the main villains, and an army builder set of Planet Doom soldiers.

Whats the frequency on these releases? I see some of this red one on ebay from $70ish...man I just got done buidling TFC Hercules(devestator) for $600 and they have to throw this out here..I havent had a voltron since my small little Matchbox one I had when I was a kid...damn them!

I am curious to see how this sub performs and I am not optimistic. There seems to be a curse on Voltron that makes GIJOE look like it has the luck of Star Wars and Transformers.

It would not surprise me if there end up being leftovers and Matty ends up clearancing them out and/or when the sub ends and if it isn't renewed, they won't really be that expensive on Ebay (indeed, perhaps less than their original cost) because collectors typically don't chase after modern discontinued lines like that...they move on to something else.

First month was red lion and pilot. The sub will go a driver one month then a lion the next (possibly in reverse order) until completed.

I think the figure is just a hair too small, but it is totally livable. A lion and figure ship as a pair about every two months. They are expensive but appear to be really awesome.

I really wish that they made the Black Lion look better as a lion. Instead they made him a chest that kind of transforms into a lion, so it ends up being way too wide. They should have made a good looking Lion, and then a separate piece that forms the chest that lets all of the lions plug into it.

The Red Lion will be on sale Feb. 15th, Yellow Lion in April, Green Lion in June, Blue Lion in August and Black Lion in October. The Sven figure will be out in August as well.

In the cartoon they just drew the Black Lion larger when it was in Voltron form, which obviously you can't do in real life, so I think they should have just made an extra piece that all the other lions plug into when forming Voltron. That way it would look good both as Voltron, and as individual lions.

I could understand why they wouldn't do that if this were a retail line that was aimed at kids, but for something that is a small run just for collectors, I wish they had put more thought into what the Black Lion looked like.

I was considering buying the whole thing until I saw the Black Lion, and it totally killed my excitement.

what CG101 said I don't shop with mattel nor collect any of the dc or motu lines so I have no knowledge of these lions until I saw this thread I only knew about the masterpiece voltron that was released a few years ago but this is news to me I may have to go the ebay route since the subscription is sold out =(

I agree with you sir I am the same way those pretty much are my sources of my toy collectings, and that TFC hercules omfg I couldn't contain myself I always owned the 2nd gen yellow devy and then saw the expansion parts for articulated legs and hands but they were for the g1 tf line and the colors wouldn't match but now that the tfc hercules is out I think my inner child can be happy again.

I do hope that coming across these lions won't be too expensive but then again what toy collection isn't

true but you are right in still having a good opportunity to get the later sets at a decent price the only real expensive one is going to be the black lion but personally after seeing images of the black lion I am curious as to why they had to make him so damn big? I know he is the center piece but why so bulky? I could see using extension pieces to add to the chest but hopefully he can be posed in a decent manner otherwise it'll just be a bulky voltron toy that stands two feet tall

I have to look it back up, but I'm pretty sure there are three different prices. The Red and Green Lions the cheapest, then the Blue and Yellow, then the Black. I might be wrong though, I was looking into this subscription back at Comic Con.

I am not an avid TF Fan like I am for Joe stuff, but 2 large robots in Devestator(hercules) and this Voltron (esecpailly since its Joe scale) catch my eyes like dimonds in the rough lol...this voltron cost might work out a as replacement for the Club FSS since I will have that money to put towards this (unless they come up with a solid plan to implement it wihout further risk) as well as the COn set...hopefully that wont be something I will want this year (yeah right haha)

In terms of scale, what are the TFC Hercules vehicles compared to G.I. Joe.

That just means Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Lady Jaye, and Flint can pilot the Lions instead of that spandex wearing team of space losers.

If i had to guess I would assume they woul dbe 2x to 3x smaller then the scale of a joe vehicle like that Mobat. The little figures that came with the deluxe transfomers would be too big to fit in them scale wise would be like a 12-13 foot person lol. Only way to relate to it would be in relatioon to this red lion, its pretty hefty standing next to that mobat and since its just Voltron's arm that gives you a sense how big almost 2 feet tall would be once completed. TFC Hecules is only about the size of Galactus at around 18-19 inches. I am sure my guestimates are way off but thats how I see it. They really wouldnt get a devestator combiner of this voltron's size any time soon, it would be like 4-5 feet tall lol...like that custom that one guy made. The machinery devestator is made of are big big vehicles...compared to people.

I would have so gotten this if the white parts were metal color or even grayish... It would bug me to see all that white on the connector parts...

Yeah, that kind of threw me off at first too. For it to work perfectly, imo, they would have had to paint the whole thing in a metal deco if they went with silver. I'm not the biggest fan of that. The gray could have been nice, but I like white. It's a case of cast plastic vs painted for me over anything else.

They they didn't pull that color out of their asses, the legs were WHITE in the cartoon. Matty has said this time and again, but it would appear that folks want them to look more like their old toys than the actual show.

Yeah I take no issue with looking like it did in the Cartoon, thats kinda the point I think they were going for?
