Has G.I Joe change our lives? What would life be without collecting GI Joes?

I would probably be trying to reclaim my G1 TF collection that I sold off......Dammit........

I've put more time, energy, and money into the 25th line than I should have on other IRL social functions. I would have been a very rich man had I not collect the 25th!!

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I am replicating my 1980s collection but, my life hasn't changed much. As a teacher, I am constantly busy and serve on several commitees in my school. I coach youth football in the same town and I'm helping my wife raise our five month old. Plus, we just purchased our first house...and I plan to display my Joes in the basement...So, what would life be like without GI Joe...I'd probably be spending that money on my son and wife.

These women are out there. Just let them come to you. I say if the women gets mad, oh well. My wife has purses I know I dropped more than $350.00 on. That is just for one purse!!! Gotta keep her happy though, so when the new ones come out, I don't get in trouble for spending $6.97 on a clear wraith and explain to her what a variant is.

Well, as far as collecting right now, yeah I'd have saved some money, but I figured the timeline for the collection is limited as I'll not be picking up "modern" or "movie" stuff. At least I say that now.
It has been nice though, as work/life has been pretty busy and I have not had the time to dedicate to my wargaming hobby, but collecting Joes is pretty easy and a nice little reward on the way home from work.
As far as life in general...well my 1974 Playmobil Cavalry guys started it, but G.I. Joe certainly helped pave the road for me becoming an Army Officer.

I did not spoil her, that is how I treat my wife. I give her what she wants. My job allows me to spend money on her and I take care of her.

I would certainly have a lot more money, but my Joes make me happy, so it's a wash. My girlfriend is very understanding of my nerdiness, and I consider myself lucky not to have a lady who judges about that stuff. If it makes me happy and the bills are paid, she doesn't really care.

no, i would probably have spent the same amount of money on other crap so I guess the only real difference is that I wouldn't have as diverse of a collection.

this is my first post, but I have been lurking for a while...
In my early tears I was an avid ARAH fan. From about the age of 10 i watch the cartoon and I thought 'Wow, I wanna do that!' Fast forward eight years later to my initial enlistment in the Air Force. I am now in my 13th year and it all began on a cold PA Friday night when the M.A.S.S. Device movie ran in prime time. So, needless to say, Joe influenced my career path.
ps- is it odd that all the Joes are E5 or below? Its cool, I out rank most of em now, lol

the best part for me is im reliving the happiness of my childhood, through the eyes of my two boys, but as far as changing my life? the gas, time and money ive spent could definitly gone to something else......but, im sure i would have just wasted it

I'd have more time.
I'd have more money.
I'd be more popular.
I'd get made fun of less
I'd act more mature
I'd spend less time on the internet and more time in the "real world".
I'd more time playing with my kids and their toys than playing with my own toys
Did I say the time and money thing?
DAMN YOU GI JOE!!!

GI Joe gave me the view of justice. That you can not trust everything, To question authority and believe in the IDEA of AMERICA, not the reality.
Its the Hope and Dream of the "good guys" that even save cobras that is what AMERICA is about. Good guys even save or help the evil because if we do not then we are evil too.

I'd say the same... HOWEVER...
I'd probably be dead because I'd have tried to touch a live electrical wire while my friends sat on their bikes and watched.
Or
I would have drowned after panicking when I fell in the water.
Or
Died of rabies from a rabid dog bite!
Or
Died from blood loss from an uncontrollable nosebleed! (That one is actually true, believe it or not!)
Or
Never had learned to say no to strangers...
I think I got my point across! We all lived a little longer thanks to GI Joe!

I'd be rich, happy and collecting all the other toys i collect lol. I dont know if GI JOE is a "life changing" event. I did shape the way i played as a kid though, and my perceptions of good and evil. does that count?

If I didn't like Joe, I would just be spending more time on the other things I like, such as football, baseball, camping, canoeing, fishing and hunting.
Probably have more money to spend more time in Florida on some beach with a 21 year old blonde.
Sab
EDIT: I'd probably have more money so that I could go to Africa every year instead of every 2-3 years and enjoy my time sweating in the bush hunting leopard and cape buffalo.
DAMN! I need to give this joes stuff up! lol!

Eh, as a kid, it was my favorite toy.
So that was a big part of it. I also lived in the country away from close neighbors, and was an only child til I was 10, so I had to occupy myself a good bit, unless a friend came over for the weekend or something...
So Joes were a large part of what kept me busy.
As an adult, I lost all my TFs and Joes from my childhood in a moving truck fire (along with most of my possessions I acquired after moving out of the nest as an "adult") so the 25th line is a way for me to replace them with more awesome versions. :)
My girlfriend thinks it's silly, but she also has her shoes, purses, typical girl-loved-things. So she leaves me alone for the most part. I would probably waste less gas, that's for sure. :)

Yeah, but you are like me.
You and I would have more money, but it would be soooooo damn boring to be in the house with the limitations of furniture and electronic devices such as the TV or DVD player.
GI Joe adds that third dimension to our home lives because we have something to play with while simultaneously sitting on furniture and watching TV.
I am willing to wager that many of us have higher IQ scores than the average bear because we all share a strong sense of creativity and imagination that never, ever left us as we aged.
Having a strong imagination as an adult is like having a 6th sense, in my humble opinion.

I'm not sure I would have joined the military had I not been so into it as a kid, and a lot of that had to do with GI Joe...
So yeah, it affected my life quite a bit, I think.

I'd have a finished basement and more money in my pockets.....scratch that my wife would have found a way to spend it. I tell her that her daily $5 lattes from Starbucks equal one Joe I get to buy a day, and I get to keep mine forever.
Also on the woman note, my wife helps me find stuff (she got me my first Rattler and a black head Destro), she just gets pissed when I army build like 50 Vipers or something. "Why do you need 50 of the same guy?" I say, "honey their troopers," then I get a stare and get told that I'm such a dork. LOL

I feel that Collecting Joes' keeps me young at heart.
I keep getting older and older and getting more responsibilities and I feel like I will loose touch with myself as a child if I didn't collect figures and such.
It makes me remember better times.

Moneywise, I'd be in about the same boat, cuz if I didn't spend money on Joe's, it would get spent on other recreational activities. Toywise, I would be a completist on the Star Wars line(95 to present day).
