Now you didn't hear this from Goldface but...
Brendan Fraser has a small scene in the movie. He shows up at GI Joe HQ on a motor cycle and with a large tattoo emblazoned on his bare chest. I don't know if this has been revealed anywhere or not. My source for this was not a diehard Joe fan so he could only describe this to me from a peripheral perspective. He couldn't say for sure that Fraser was playing Gung Ho but it sure did seem like it to him.
He told me a few more things but I'm not sure what info has already made the rounds and what hasn't.
Another revelation he gave me that I haven't seen anywhere is that Snake-Eyes has a mouth. Yes. That's right. Snake Eye's black mask has a mouth molded onto it. It isn't visible in any of the stills released so far because its so dark, but it is there and will be visible on screen.
According to my source ...and again, I reiterate that he's NOT a big GI Joe fan... this does not look like a very good movie. He described it as being almost non-stop action punctuated by many, many flashbacks. He is pretty sure the general public will not like this movie and Joe fans will absolutely hate it.

Fraser said he's not Gung Ho. He said he didn't even know who Gung Ho was until he heard rumors that's who he was playing. Haven't you seen his cracked out interview?
And we've known for a while that Snake-Eyes has a mouth on his mask. Its pretty clear in some leaked images.
Why do you have 2 accounts?

Of course, the last time Stephen Sommers was entrusted with a project this large was when Universal Studios gave him almost free reign on use of its many screen monsters for Van Helsing. That ended up a confused mess which disappointed at the box office and wasted famed characters such as Count Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster. Fingers crossed he can have a more positive effect on G.I. Joe, which was lost in development hell a few years ago when the Cobra organisation was dropped from the script and fans were in uproar. Now, with Cobra re-instated, Sommers has an opportunity to wow cinema audiences with an action adventure on a grand scale. The images released so far show promise; a trailer is eagerly awaited.

As I mentioned, I don't know what info has been circulated and what hasn't. I'm only repeating what a source told me. Take it for what you will. As I also said, my source couldn't say for sure that Fraser was playing Gung Ho but he said ...and again, he's not a Joe fan... Fraser seemed most like Gung Ho.
Regarding Snake Eyes' mouth, I again have to plead ignorance on what's been reported and what hasn't.
Lastly, I have only ONE account. I don't know who Goldface2 is, but his handle did attract me to this thread. If you check out my post count, you'll see I've mostly been a very infrequent lurker.

I find it incredibly stupid when people judge something before they've even seen it.
They must be able to see into the future so if they'd like to pass along the winning lottery numbers, that would be great.

Well, I really went way out of my way to remain open-minded and optimistic about this film. I like to think I still am at least a little bit.
You're right that I haven't seen the film so to be fair, I really can't judge the final product.
I can however judge the information about the film that's circulated thus far and I have to say, a lot of the decisions that appear to have been made are not ones that sound very good to me. I'm talking about the rumors that circulate on the message boards which of course I take with its grain of salt and I'm talking about the information I receive directly from someone who is connected to the film. I trust him and his opinion very much so I certainly regard what he's told me with a good deal of faith.
I certainly cannot say for certain that this is going to be a terrible movie even after my source, who's seen about eighty percent of the flick, has described it as being very bad. Maybe the sum of all of these really weird, random and flat-out terrible parts will equal a fantastic five-star two-thumbs up blockbuster.
If someone had a gun to my head and forced me to place a bet though, at this point, I'd be putting my chips on "bad."

One does not need too see something to make a judgement on it. I can't see air but I'm pretty glad it keeps me alive, I've read the Joe script and I made a judgement based on that.
Will I see the G.I. Joe movie? Maybe when it hits the dollar movie theatre or is on TV but know I won't find it too be an enthralling movie due to two things. 1. It doesn't follow the G.I. Joe vision I've had for years(which is different from any other establish continuity not "OH NOEZ RIPKORD ISN'T WHITE") and 2. It doesn't seem to be the type of movie I enjoy.

Very true and as I've posted earlier you can make a judgement on the information leaked so far without condemning the whole movie. Of course, based on that information, it's not looking good for that movie.
Here's a summation of all I've learned from a contact connected to the film...
1. The film is almost completely non-stop frenetic action occasionally interrupted by an unusual number of flashbacks.
2. Cobra Commander was formerly a member of GI Joe but he turns against the team ...and I guess the World... after a disastrous Joe mission leaves him disfigured. He was also a good pal of Duke's, but that friendship also heads south after CC's face is burnt.
3. Cobra Commander is described as wearing a monocle. His lower face is disfigured and for most of his few scenes hidden by a "cyborg mask." "Cyborg mask" is my friend's description. Not mine.
4. Cobra Commander isn't in the movie very much. Destro also has very few scenes. It looks as if Baroness and Storm Shadow do most of the work in this flick.
5. My source liked Storm Shadow's look but said he barely wears the white outfit that's been circulated. Keep in mind that my source is only a casual Joe fan. He's not a collector of the toys and probably hasn't seen the cartoon since he was a kid.
6. In one flashback to some sort of Spanish Inquisition type of ceremony, you see Destro ...or an ancestor... being given the classic Destro mask. This is one of the very few moments you see the actual mask.
7. My source described the movie as a big commercial for a lot of toys. No surprise there!
8. Brendan Fraser is described as having a cameo where he shows up on a motorcycle. He's bare-chested with a big tattoo on his chest. My source called him Gung-Ho, but again, keep in mind, he's only a casual fan.
9. For the first half of the movie, the Joes are wearing black Matrix style outfits. Later they switch to what my source described as "robot suits" which I guess we can assume are these power suits everyone keeps mentioning.
10. Wayons is in the movie A LOT! My source described him as looking "annoying" and in one scene he's being arrested while in his "power suit."
11. The movie is set in the future but you really can't tell it's the future.
12. The Cobra soldiers look nothing like the figures or the cartoon but according to my source, "they look cool." Again, he's only a casual fan.
13. GI Joe HQ has a wall of monitors above which is a sign that reads, "KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE."
14. Snake-Eyes' mask has a mouth that hasn't been visible in the publicity photos but can clearly be seen on screen. My source thought that looked stupid.
15. Towards the end of the film, Storm Shadow guts Hawk and kills him.
16. According to my source... and this is his opinion... it did not look like a very good movie. He didn't think the general public would like it and devoted Joe fans would surely hate it. Again, his opinion!
I know some of this information has been talked about already, but I wanted to collect everything I'd been made privy to in one post for easy reference.

Can you tell what it tastes like because a friend of yours read that a guy once saw some on black and white tv on a channel that was fuzzy because of poor reception? Turns out your "dog $H!+" was a Little Debbie brownie. You like brownies?

That reminds me of the early porn I used to see on cable when we didn't get showtime or cinemax.
Ahh, good times, good times.

Well, if we're REALLY going to apply the dog$hi+ analogy to the GI Joe film, it's more like the producers are screaming, "We're serving up dog$hi+ in a bowl and it's going to be great!"
It's understandable for me to say, "I don't like dog$hi+. I'm going to pass."
Setting the analogy aside, this might be a good movie. At this point though, I'm REALLY bending over backwards to make that allowance. Most of the creative choices we keep hearing about just seem like bad ideas. As I've osted before, maybe these bad ideas all come together for a deceptively good five-star blockbuster but if I were forced to place money on a bet, based on everything I've heard so far, I'd bet against it.
I have no doubt that this will make a lot of money. I just don't think it will be a good movie. It will be an Ang Lee's Hulk situation.

I'm certain your information (and every other non-Paramount-sanctioned information) is not from any producers. What we have so far are a few interviews by (possibly inebriated) actors sworn to Paramount to tell us next to nothing about the film (some of whom might feel it easier to lie and misdirect us than to say nothing at all), hearsay from underlings who could not possibly be privy to anything beyond the most rudimentary, unedited, un-CGI'ed film fodder, reviews of old scripts (that may or may NOT be the undirected final copy) and lots and lots of unfounded speculation by fanboys of all shapes and sizes.
Have you ever watched any footage of any one of the Star Wars (Matrix, 300) films prior to editing and the introduction of special effects? They look pretty lame and hardly resemble the final product. That's my point. You (we) just don't know nearly enough to pass judgement, yet.
I have no doubt that this will make a lot of money. I just don't think it will be a good movie. It will be an Ang Lee's Hulk situation.
Now there I think you are on to something. I am expecting something along that same line. I actually like Hulk, not for the acting or script (clearly inferior to most of the other comic book flicks, save for maybe Daredevil, Electra, Fantastic 4), but for the style, action and effects (which I found much more exciting than Spiderman, Fantastic 4 or Xmen). I like the chaotic feel it has when the Hulk is confused and on the run, and I loved all the hardware in the movie (a la Ironman, Transformers). But, like pretty much everyone, I think it should have ended when Hulk got captured and the whole father/frankendogs thing left out. That said, I like the movie in general and own a copy. And I wish I would have seen it in the theaters.
Although pretty much ignored now, Hulk was a part of that initial comic book movie wave and did make money (only about $2 million less than Hulk 2 after production costs are removed - and it is pretty much a wash after inflation is balanced) and sell toys. If GI Joe is at least that good, it will be fun to watch and hopefully be a springboard to better things for Joe. If not, I will be the first to admit I was wrong and wasted my money seeing it. I hope all the haters would be willing to admit they were wrong if Joe succeeds...
