i just want a classic looking Baroness. that cartoon color version's just not looking right on my shelf. Zartan, hmmm....Blue version? or in a perfect world, color changing. Well that's hugely disappointing. But it sounds like a great starter kit for Christmas. At least there is no Duke. I'm surprised there is no Destro but He's easy enough to find. I wish they would just make the ones we really are missing. But I think the Joe 5 pack is an excellent Job on Hasbro's part. The Cobra one is sort of weak.

I'm thinking of the future here. Lets say some kid was too young last year to get the original 5 pack (Not that you can't one pick up.) I would rather he be based in a Hawk based Heirachy than Duke. (Plus Hawk will have Blonde hair I bet and if Lady jaye is Hatless, Flint with gloves. Then those things have a good chance. I think I might buy one now.)

Or you're 4 you got the 5 pack last year for X-mas, but almost nothing all year long. (I only ever got toys for x-mas and birthdays) But you've played the hell out of them. Snake Eyes is so loose you can't even play with him anymore. Now here's X-mas around the corner. You can double your collection with all different figures, and replace your Snake Eyes. (I went through 3 v1 Snake Eyes as a kid.)

I think the Cobra and joe 5 packs will be cartoon based. We never got a v1 Baroness with fixed crotch, so I think the upcoming Cobra pack is ample opportunity to include her. Maybe Zartan is the wave 11 version only with a crossbow this time around. Storm Shadow with Tomax/Xamot arms is an easy retool that would make him comic accurate. Maybe the Cobra Commander with chrome faceplate, and larger, more accurately sized head from the upcoming DVD pack will come in a darker shade of blue, like the single pack hooded commander. The Viper could be in brighter colors.

I think these are going to "just different enough to make you mad" sort of deal, and likely going to fall into a catagory of "perfecting" some of the old releases, and tieing them into either the comic or cartoon catagories:
Joe pack-
Hawk will likely have black or true blond hair, though I'm hoping they might whip up a new head for the Talking Commander look
Flint will likely be a cartoon or v1, either way with the new arms
Lady Jaye might see some tweaks, but I'm not expecting anything different than the DVD set
Shipwreck, probably the hook accessory and modified paint apps, though they might throw a curve ball and do a DDP style or Torpedo mix mash
Snake Eyes the DVD v2 remold in proper original colors or dark blue

Cobra-
CC probably in one of his classic looks, and a few fixes here and there. They may surprise us with a black Battle Corp version since they have the recipe in the Tripwire/CC pack
Storm Shadow I'm leaning towards a straight repack of the V1 Cobra style
Zartan will either be his first 25th figure in black and grey (DDP style) or his Swamp Skier redesign in comic or cartoon colors. Though given the release date, I'm leaning towards the former.
Baronness I'm expecting to be the "cartoon" single in black/grey colors to go with the cartoon Destro.
Viper I WANT to be one of his later repaints (python Patrol or Sonic Fighters) but I'm EXPECTING is the same old figure we've gotten, possibly in lighter colors.

Chances are, both sets will have one or two "essential" purchases with the rest being slight recolors or repacks of stuff we've gotten.

well its basically with all the reuses and repacks hasbro is known for with this line as of late theres little hope of this being anything more than a solid repack with a minor tweak here and there. This is a wasted opportunity to give us five new characters per team as opposed to just releasing rehashed characters...like they coulda included zap and short fuse in the box set with like recondo claymore and footloose but what do we get? ohh its allt he same characters except flint might actually be proper...does anyone remember that episdoe of the simpsons when lisa makes her own doll everyone rushes to it then all of the sudden the malibu stacy doll (which is the same one) except with a new hat in the package is released?

I hate to say it after Wave 12 I am being really choosey with what I buy. The repaint and repack business is getting a little crazy. Too many of the same character over and over. IG Destro, CC, SS, SE,Ninjas of all color and variety, cobra troopers and so on. This is getting to be a little out of control. Don't they realize there are several hundred if not thousands in the Joe line betwen comic book, cartoon and so on. Give us some good stuff that is new. Why not make vehicles that are transformers so the Joes can have some crossover action. Can't you see a giant Optimus prime with Duke in the cab or someone else?

JOES: If it's 100% repack, no dice. I open all my figs and having duplicate Shipwrecks and Hawks would be terrible. If they're changed or themed in any way, I'm all over it.

COBRA: Hopefully CC will be the caped kind, as I still haven't bought the CC/Tripwire comic pack. Another SS won't be bad, as he is great for customs. Baroness, I have 3 of already (Black, red and blue) so she'll be tossed in a box. Zartan, also into the box unless changed. Viper I need more of.

Really I'm just not happy with either unless they're major overhauls.

Taking into account the latest round of q/a's, the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow in these sets will not be the Ninja Force versions. Those will not be out before the movie. Come to think of it, it would be cool to see those in a comic pack after the movie to just be done with it. The remaining versions of Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes to homage from RAH are the following:

-V4 Snake Eyes
-V2 Cobra Storm Shadow(V2 was originally decoed with Cobra symbols on the uniform, I've never seen this but it's been mentioned years back).
-v1 Storm Shadow, sleeveless(cartoon look)
-Snake Eyes gvc O-ring costume homage
-Snake Eyes VVV wave 7


Now if the Storm Shadow in the set ends up being the one that was originally destined for wave 12, then that is fine with me, I actually wanted that one a lot! A lot of you Storm Shadow fans did too.

For Hawk, we have the v3 with jet pack left.....nice accessories but he has the bubble helmet. For Flint I think we will get a cartoon version. For Lady Jaye, a version with removable hat or more weaponry. Hell maybe swappable heads. Shipwreck could be the Spytroops version..or one with an open left hand this time around. Cobra Commander could be the v4..which had the clear red faceplate(one of my favorites!). For Zartan we could have ninja force but I'd rather not. Neon green+mohawk=NO. Only thing I can think of for Baroness is the v1 with fixed crotch.
