Professor Appleton? Think thats his name. His daughter was Candy the Balloon Bear who was killed in the car explosion that took Billys leg and eye.

I believe his name was Appel.. so that his daughter's name was a play on Candy Apple.

She was also Bongo The Balloon Bear.

Professor Appleton was responsible for the creation of Cobra Island. I know he was shot and killed but I can't remember who did it. I wouldn't mind a figure, but he'd have to be a hefty, or portly shaped CG.

I want to say it was Zartan, but it wasn't... Zartan was hurt, this was when Ripcord jumped onto the island looking for Apple. Apple thought Ripcord, who was also hurt, was Zartan and put him in a Firebat heading for Springfield.

So it wasn't Zartan, the Joes rescued him, thinking it was Rip Cord.

Storm Shadow cut down Prof. Appel when he thought that Zartan was in the cockpit of a Firebat about to launch. It was really Rip Cord and Prof. Appel knew this. He was sending Rip Cord to Springfield to look for Candy. At this time, no one knew she was dead and Billy was critically injured. All this happened in issues 42, 43, 45, 46 of the Marvel run.

I don't know if I'm reading the questions right but I'm pretty sure it was Scrap Iron that fired the missiles that killed the Soft Master (Tommy Storm Shadow's other uncle) & Candy Appel. [I think a drunk driver was also killed in the 2nd blast.]

I forget who urged Scrap Iron to kill them. I think it was Firefly that was there giving him the order but please don't quote me on that. I'll have to go check my comics.

Yor're correct, Kamakura. Scrap Iron fired the missiles, but Firefly encouraged him to do so. And yes, the 3rd occupant of the car was the drunk driver, who was also killed.
