Does anyone have some decent pics of a classic Viper army that they can show off??

Are you creating a Dio that needs pics or something? Just curious. I don't have much from Viper land.
Not yet, but I just want to see a nice build of them.

Here is a shot of mine, I do something similar to yours, using glass shelves with clear stands.
That shelf is all vintage, but I still need about a dozen of the Viper pit 6 pack to fill out a different display project I am in the middle of.

It was done over a long period of time, and I haven't added much to it over the past year or so. I went at it somewhat agressively for a little while, it was more work than money, really. A lot of trading and searching to get them for what i wanted to spend.

yeah i could imagine all the trading for the figs and all that being kind of a pain. but if you were buying for years the prices were rather reasonable up until the 25th anniv. still thats a sweet setup. im more partial to the newer look...VvV and 25th but i can say that your collection is no joke.

I have a larger scale dio i am setting up in my attic, but I generally use modern army builders, like the Viper Pits figure, 6 pack infantry forces, customs, etc., and leave my vintage guys on the shelf. I do need more pilots and drivers, though, to fill out many of my vintage vehicles without pulling them off the shelf.

Thanks, but I am not sure who you mean by Starviper?
Here are the guys you mention...

Those are my Emperors Royal Vipers. I made them as a guard for serpentor. One year, they got "best Coil Custom" in the JCA's (when there was like NO competition in the Coil Category). I have made about 20 in Black, then about 6 or 8 in Gold. here are some pics of the gold ones.

The idea came from the Legio Custodes, from Warhammer 40K. The pikes have both a spearhead and a small machine gun built in.
This is a link to the black ones on Joecustoms.

All, I am planning a raid on Krym's house.
Please note: This isn't a raid to steal anything.
We will, however, play with everything. NO SHELF WILL BE LEFT UNTOUCHED! FOR SPARTA!

I pulled these pics out of retirement, since the theme seems to be "HONKIN' LARGE COLLECTIONS!"

I think i am at about 260 on Vipers, and 140 on BATs, but I sold a couple of each off in the last year, and haven't bothered to recount up. Plus, I have a bag of each that are either missing guns or arm attachments that wouldn't really fit on the shelf.

Hey guys, thanks a lot, i am glad you are all enjoying my setup. I would post other pics, but honestly I am not sure I should, after reading this in the locked AFA thread...
Some collector: Lookit me through my stuff here. This is what makes me special.
GIT: No it's not, it's just stuff.
SC: You're just jealous.
GIT: But that would be dropping to your level. I would then be wishing I could define myself according to a larger amount of stuff.
I really am not looking to make anyone mad, get accused of "dick wagging", or be told I am trying to legitimize my own existence by owning a large volume of cool toys. If that is the attitude of the boards here, then that is cool with me, but I'd just rather not rock the boat by posting pics of large amounts of stuff.

That really sucks that some people have to take things (ahem**collecting plastic**ahem) so seriously. After all, this is supposed to be fun right? I for one am just happy to see your collection, KGI. I could never build an army that big (though it would be fun), and I'm not sure I would want to put in the time, effort, or money, but it's definitly cool. Thanks for sharing.
And thanks to C.I.A.D. too. I'm a huge IG fan, so your pics made me smile a lot. Just wish Hasbro had given Voltar, the TARGATs and the Annihilators appropriate colors... ;)

That's lame that peeps are hatin' on your collection. Don't let them make you feel guilty. You worked hard to amass such a collection.
It's much easier to post hate than it is to work on collecting something comparable.
I've had a few people over the years tell me to stop being proud of my autographs... and I'm all like... "When you tirelessly track down and write to all these numerous people and finally get an autograph, then you'd want to show it off too."
Cool collection man, be proud of your hard work.

There were pics of this case, set up slightly differently, on another web site, but things have been changed around a bit, and this is how it actually is in my one Joe room now.

That's AWESOME KGI. When I collect I don't go out for army building, well, unless it's armies of funky color variant bootlegs, but that is a sweet display.
Don't let haters get to you. When you share too much you're showboating and when you don't share you're hoarding. Damned if you do...

Dude, I'll be using "nerdgasm" A LOT from now on, so i'll drop some friendship your way as a payment for licensing of the term. :) That is frigging great, my girl's gonna love it. Need that on a t-shirt (if it isn't already.)

Unfortunately, I already did my "tour" of Pennsyltucky, and now live in MI.
Did live down on Walnut (near the head shop), Langhorne, Feasterville, Yardley & New Hope.
I'll tell you what.....you can keep Nerdgasm as your own invention if you fedex me a hoagie and some herr's chocopretzel sticks from Wawa...OH, and a Cheese Steak from Steve's over on rt. 1 (Near the nabisco factory). :D
Seriously though man, that collection is friggin' INSANE. I think if I were standing in front of it I'd end up shaking violently like a Diabetic trapped inside of a Sugar Factory.
Wow...looking back at my IG collection and looking at yours...it's like that scene from Croc Dundee:

Thanks. It took about an hour to set up on the one figure alone. But the truth is it didn't seem like work at the time because I was having so much fun with it. I just looked at the clock and realized I'd totally lost track of time.
Once I got the rope length right, I did the same thing on the other side of the T-drome with a Python Rock Viper to give it a sense of symmetry.
Little touches like that and you can really "Martha" your bonsai collection into something truly creative and unique.
It's a good thing. :)
