Devil's Due still publishing through Image debuted the Frontline series in October of 2002 which was generally a series of individual multiple part stories. The first four issue arc featured the return of Larry Hama to the pages of G.I.Joe and was a story that took place between the ending of the Marvel run and the beginning of Volume 2. Each series had a separate creative team and writer.
Many readers did not embrace Frontline; overall it was a good series but in truth it lacked what many fans wanted. To me it seemed like a rebirth of the Marvel series Special Missions. I might be alone with this but that is hw I looked at the series.
