Greetings, I think this is post number 3 or 4 on this site for me. I love to see a site like this take off as the only site I really ever visited was yojoe.com. Anywho, I have a question for the Joe comic book collector's out there.

I have the entire marvel series Real American Hero and Special Missions, bagged boarded boxed up .. etc etc etc.. The storyline went from Marvel, to Image I believe, then to Devil's Due and now its moving again to this IDW? Did any of the Devil's Due guys move to IDW or is it a completely new team?

I did a little bit of reading, with my limited time I haven't been able to keep up. Did devil's due lose the license or did they just decide to stop writing the series? The Artwork was amazing and the storyline was great. I collected as much as I could of the Devil's Due line but, again, with my schedule its been tough to keep up with it. Then they did some spin offs which drive me nuts with comic book collecting however I do know it goes along the line of the hobby.

I am waiting patently to see what IDW is going to do with this and it will be nice to be able to get in on issue 0 or 1. I am really hoping that IDW keeps it simple with the storyline maybe a special missions spin off.

Anyway, *hops off the soap box*

New team. New continuity.

There are 3 books. Larry Hama has one, Chuck Dixon has another, Craig Yost & someone else has the last.

define new continuity...devils due basically follows the marvel line...but were smart to deny the existence of the horrid ninja force...

I'm hoping with Hama along, its just anothe extension of the same timeline.

I really need to find trades from the Devils due stuff, I think I ended up having to stop collecting around the red threat or whenever...I want to read them all now. Buts its impossible filtering out what the trades I need....nothing on amazon or any other site is concise in its descriptions.

It's new continuity. Forget that Marvel/Devil's Due ever existed. Starting from scratch. There will be movie-continuity and comics-continuity, which from what I've read, doesn't need Hasbro's "ok" to the storylines and won't be dictated by Hasbro wanting to "advertise" new figures/toys in the comics (like happened in the Marvel line).

And Devil's Due didn't forget Ninja Force. In the first issue of the mini-series Hawk made reference to it, and not in a good way, when he was introduced to Kamakura. Also, most of the ninja force members showed up in the DDP run (Dojo and Nunchuk in Master and Apprentice, and Tj'Bang had a big role in America's Elite).

DDP's is easy to get. Besides the G.I.Joe comic, everything else was limited series: Master and Apprentice, Master and Apprentice 2, Frontline, Reloaded, Special Missions.

Then there's America's Elite, seperate from the original comic.

Devil's Due didn't deny the existence of Ninja Force they just didn't use them really. In fact they even mentioned Ninja Force in the first issue. T'Jbang even made an appearance later on.

IDW will be starting fresh. What happened in the other comics never happened. Chuck Dixon will be writing the main title for IDW with art by Robert Atkins. Larry Hama will be writing G.I. Joe: Origins, with art from Tom Feister. There will also be a four part mini titled G.I. Joe: Cobra written by Christos Gage and Mike Costa, with art by Antonio Fuso. And to clear up something for the OP. It went from Marvel and then to DDP with Image publishing it for them. I think it was around the mid 20's that they started publishing it themselves. DDP did lose the license. I must say that the art for the new series from IDW is great. Robert Atkins is an amazing artist.

Hope that clears things up alittle.

So...next question is...are you guys happy about a starting fresh?

In a comic world where EVERY character has multiple storys arc and rebirths...I always loved the fact that even many years after the original joe series ended, they decided to pick up the same ball and go with it.

Not against a new beginning, just see all to often in the comic world.

I'm gonna wait and see how it is before I say that I'm happy about it. From everything I've heard about it though, it sounds good and the art looks GREAT. The preview #0 comes out Oct. 22nd I believe so should see how it is then.
