Recently, sideshow is making Joe figures that I could not resist. When I first saw Cobra Viper, I told myself "OK, just pick up Cobra Viper." Once I got the Viper, I was so impressed about the details, quality, and articulation of the figure. And yesterday, I just got General Hawk, and yet another WOW figure, I love everything about this figure. Today, I just put in a pre-ordered of Sideshow Boba Fett, Zartan, and Rock & Roll. My wife will kill me for sure. :D Is anyone here started out like me?

this is how i got roped in too. i put aside money for the viper and when it got pushed back the first time i gave in and bought beachhead, then it got pushed back again so i bought the desert sniper. now i have my viper and badly want firefly. this could get pricey. lol

I got addicted to Hot Toys first, when I found Dutch Shafer and Billy and Predator from the first predator...then I found Sideshowtoys was selling them and starte dbrowsing the website and found the GI JOE stuff and was like omg OMG! Luckily its my money and i have no wife or GF to get in the way of my toy spending habits :) bUt i drew th eline at just the Joes and original predator team (if they ever make the rest)...the star wars stuff will depelete your bank account in insane time....not to mention the Marvel things as well...soooo many items...not enough time space or monies!

They are at least easy to be selective with though, I only went for SDCC Crimson CC, 2 Standard CObra Troopers for his guards (till the CG troopers come out to relieve them), Red Ninja (Crimson Storm Shadow for me), Firefly (bets one hands down) Viper and then Dusty. Beachead and meh Stalker...I don't find the joes as cool as I do the CObras sans Dusty he was solid. The rest are not worth it to me. The first incarnation of SNake Eyes and Storm Shadow also were mehs in my book esecialy the head sculpts for Duke and Flint...passed on Hawk and going to pass on RocknRoll too cancelled that pre-order. Can not wait for zartan though!

I got into Sideshow when they first released 12" Star Wars figures. They were $45 each at the start. That price slowly but surely crept up to the now current $120 each price. Insane but true.

I collected many Jedi figures, and even had the 1:18 Jabba and throne environment at one time. Then I discovered Hot Toys and Medicom and wound up with tons of movie and comic characters like Wolverine, Spider-man and the Rocketeer.

Not completely true. I skipped the sniper, desert triooper, desert officer, ninja viper and red ninja. Not 'core' enough imo. I missed out on crimson CC. :-(

I collect the ARAH as well as the Hasbro 12" Figures. I liked the detail on the Sideshow figures, but the cost really is what killed it for me. That and I didn't like the facilal sculpts they did on some of the figures. They seem to range from pissed off, to confused to constipated.

What I've started doing is working on makin my own custom 12" ARAH figures. I'll have to post the images now that I have a decent digital camera. I've got a Stormshadow '84 version, Snake eyes '85 version, Red Ninja as well as a Flint, Jady Jaye and Quick Kick that are WIP. The deal with mine is that I'm sticking to strictly Hasbro parts when possible. Sometimes I'll cheat, but I'd say 98% of my customs are Hasbro, the rest is mostly hand made. I think Hasbro could have easily given us classic encarnations of our ARAH characters without any real effort on their part, not like the stuff they gave us for Valor Vs. Venom. Except for Bazooka, that one was right on target, the rest were left wanting. At least it gave me head sculpts for my customs.

I started way back with the Hall of Fame Joes, then went further back and started collecting vintage 1964-1969.
When the first G.I.Joe 30th anniversary came around, I was on the USS Intrepid buying up all the commemorative figures.
Then came along the G.I.Joe Collection figures and bought those as well. At the same time, collecting Kenner/Hasbro 12" Star Wars from all eras.
Then the 12" Joes went on hiatus and I started buying Sideshow Star Wars. Oh and LOTR 12" as well. All the mean while, I was buying Medicom Marvel characters too.
Once the SS Joes came out, I cut loose the SW line and I was full throttle with this line.
But the worse was yet to come,...HOT TOYS!
Yes, 12" figures can become addictive and VERY EXPENSIVE !

They are going to be doing another SE, and from what I hear it will be the commando version, and probably be better and improved over the first one.

Been there from the beginning, didn't open them until I got Stalker, and now I can't wait, they are really cool and very detailed, at first glance one could say they aren't worth the price tag but on closer look there is SOO much to them it is crazy.

And to the poster that opened Flint first, I like him, but many hate him, looks like you picked the least favorite of them all, Beachhead is WAY more impressive.

Firefly was my first, so of course I was hooked after that point. I've gotten six more since him - Dusty, Desert Sniper, Beachhead, Stalker, Hawk and Viper. I have Rock 'n' Roll, Zartan and Black Dragon Ninja on pre-order as well.

Been trying to go back and get some of the ones I missed - especially Snake-Eyes, Flint, Hawk, Storm Shadow and the Cobra troopers.

They are so highly detailed and can be posed/setup in a myriad of ways. I have them as a centerpiece to all my Joe stuff.

YEah, this started for me with Sideshow Episode III Obi-Wan Kenobi. As a big Star Wars fan and Kenobi being among my favorite characters, I felt I would at least get him.

I now own most of the Sideshow Star Wars line. Have at one point or another owned much of the Batman Hot Toys collection, some Medicom and of Course some of the Joes.

I would have more if I could afford it, but now I just try to get my favorite characters as oopposed to the whole collection like I do with 3 3/4 figures.

This is dangerous ground, friend. Many an argument between my wife and I. Tread carefully.

...I've been a fan of Sideshow for a long time. It started with the 3 Platoon figures, then the 4 exclusive figures, Vlad the impaler, S Mart Ash. Then I picked up Ogami Itto and Monjiro from Alfrex. I REALLY want the Seven Samurai set, but they are impossible to find. Then I found Hot Toys. Bought the Predator from the second movie. Went back the NEXT DAY and bought the Aliens xenomorph warrior. Robocop. ED 209, the Joker, Dutch Shaefer.
The G.I.Joe figures are some of the best. Saw Cobra Commander, he had to be bought. Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Firefly, Beachead, Stalker. I can cherry pick the line, I'm not into the Cobra soldier/sniper/officer figures. Still need Dusty. Now that Sideshow has nullified their E.U. warehouse I have to pay 20 quid on top of the figure plus shipping charges. Expensive, but the exclusives are worth it. I cancelled one pre-order of the exclusive Red Ninja in a bid to impress my girlfriend with a responsibility and maturity that I don't have, and have regretted it ever since. I've got Zartan and the exclusive Black Dragon Ninja on Pre order.

Addictive? Yes. That's because they are SO incredibly well made and detailed. Hasbro based their 30th figure on the Snake Eyes figure Sideshow made. If only it had the version 1 head.

I eat a lot of noodles. I spend all my income on action figures.

I blame everything on Duffman. I interviewed him in my 30 thread about his Sideshow collection. Then we worked out a trade for a Cobra Sniper. After that arrived, I purchased the exclusive Beachhead and regular Firefly the next day. Now I have added Dusty, Stalker and CC to my collection. Viper and Zartan are next. Really want a Red Ninja and Ninja Viper too.

So when I got out of the hospital a few weeks ago, my best friends sister sent me a Resident Evil 5 Hot Toys Battle Suit Jill Valentine figure.. and damn... amazing thing.

My first one was Duke,afterwhich I said he has to have a villian. So along came Cobra Commander, who of course can't rightly be called Commander without troops to command. That brought about the Cobra trooper, the trooper sniper, and trooper commander. Well that just ain't right for Duke to handle all of thes guys alone, so Beachhead arrived shortly after. Then I really went nuts and purchased the "HOLY GRAIL" of all Sideshow GI JOE figures: SnakeEyes. Well you know if you have SE you just gotta have StormShadow and with him came FireFly. This let me to desire more JOE figures that SideShow was dragging their feet in making so I purchased a bunch of 12" figures that resembled or could be used to make my own. I Just had to have a General Hawk and so I made one of my own, but then Sideshow had to go and ruin my triumphant masterpiece by finally making their own. Which of course I purchased(this happened also with Stalker and almost with Zartan who's on the list to buy). I also have the SideShow Flint. Now my General Hawk has been rekitbashed into Serpentor(General Rey version). I have also made RoadBlock, CoverGirl, Shipwreck, LowLight, & GungHo with Lady J, Scarlett,RoadPig, Major Bludd, QuickKick, The Crimson Twins, Zarana, Pythona(my version), Jinx(my version),IronKlaw, and Iron Grenadiers all in the works. I actually found Snake Eyes while browsing through Monkey Depot and purchased him instantly, and it wasn't until a short while later that I found out about Sideshow Collectibles. From then on I have collected one of every figure they have released, I also have the exclusives for all of them except for Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. I wish someone had the exclusive accessories that they would sell to me, that would be awesome. Firefly is probably my favorite but Dusty is almost neck and neck with him.
