What I would do...

Certain Joes get killed/injured on camera.

Destro - We can expect a line as to what happened to him. (Maybe they leave him in the chamber, or he escapes off camera.)
Baroness - Left open In case they want her for part 3
Breaker/Heavy Duty/Scarlett - Left open In case they want him/her for part 3

General Hawk - Expect a line as to him being killed off or captured. (Guest appearance would be nice) Someone else will take on the mantle of leader. (Bruce Willus most likely.)

I think it's this director's way of wiping the sleight clean after RoC. They were probably contractually obligated to include Duke, but the rest got chopped so that we could start fresh with this director's idea of GI Joe. There's nothing wrong with that as there was a lot wrong with the last interpretation. But it is too bad because I liked Scarlett, a lot.

Scarlett was hot, but I had a thing for the Baroness. The problem with onscreen deaths is it really complicates future scripts. Let's say for some reason Duke becomes a major player in the toy line for some reason before G.I. Joe 3, now we have to either shoot him out a torpedo tube into a genesis planet, or recast him and give him a whole new identity (which directly assaults his marketing popularity, none of us were fond of the renamed and repurposed characters from ROC).

We scoff at the idea of this being an issue-but there are fans who still wonder how Steeler got back after the Worlds Without End storyline. If Duke died in the cartoon movie how much fun would THAT have been for the next season?!

Bottom line, you never paint yourself into a corner, otherwise you get screwed out of the Nurse Hathaways and Hill and Renko's that made our viewing so pleasurable. He'll die ambiguously if at all.

Destro looks to be stuck in prison, most likely. Honestly, from a movie perspective he's pretty useless to Cobra now, as MARS should be pretty much a non-entity after all the trouble he caused in the first movie.

Baroness and the others: I wouldn't be surprised if we get a glimpse of the Pit and/or the Aircraft Carrier getting attacked/blown up as part of Cobra's "Order 66 montage" against the Joes. Might not show specific bodies (certainly not in a manner that would make the actors identifiable, because honestly, they're not gonna bother paying them to come back just to kill them except maybe Tatum).

Or the easier/less ruthless option: They could just say that the members of the team that were arrested in Paris were dismissed from the team (which leaves the loophole for Duke and Snake-Eyes), and that Hawk was put on convalescent leave/forced to retire to further recover from the injuries Storm-Shadow inflicted on him. Baroness and Destro remain in custody because the Commander has no use for them (though personally I think they should introduce an all-new Baroness...make her the sister of "Anna's" ex-husband, mistakenly blaming the Joes for her brother's death and family's misfortune).

Storm shadow is proof enough they will/can bring anyone back if they want them.

The ROC crew will be "elsewhere" leaving open the possiblility of re-using those charactors later. As far as we know the "dead" Joes were only on that team. As Snake-Eyes is obviously elsewhere, when he is captured.

It would be way cool to hear Hawk dies due to the wounds he recieved from Storm Shadow...I still find it rediculous Storm Shaodw was hidnered to lazily allow Hawk live his attack...that wasnt very arisikage to me...especially for Storm Shadow..but alas it was ROC...a figment of my worst dreams at this point...

We really do not need any mention of the rest form ROC, they can be eaisly forgotten by the POTUS speach about them being eliminated. Just round them all up under the umbrella he does "All the Joes (for the most part) by my order have been executed" easy quick and lets us move on. Thats how I would liek to see it. No more Breaker, Anna, Rex, Dhessttrhooo, Heavy Duty nor the ditsy Scarlett and GOOOD RIDDANCE MARALNE WAYANS back to tv shows fo jo!

I'm really going to be pissed if Scarlett is dead. I'm already pissed with how the first movie killed Cover Girl and made Baroness into a brainwashed good guy. I also hate the idea of Heavy Duty, Tunnel Rat, and Breaker being killed off for no good reason.

Still, I like the premise of this movie better (wish/hope it is the Joes faking their deaths though). Lady Jaye and Jinx might make up for the bad treatment of the Joe women in the first movie. And you've gotta love the Rock.

I don't know if the characters you mentioned will be in the movie or not. I don't think they will though. I won't miss Breaker or Heavy Duty. Destro and Baroness will still be locked up I think and if they don't make an appearance on screen or otherwise then I hope they atleast return in part 3. It is implied that many Joes are killed in the preview. I hope they turn up alive in the final scene for a big battle though.

Neither will I. Hasbro strayed too far from the original concept by making those two international Joes. If Hasbro wanted an international force, then there already were established international Joe characters (like Big Ben) they could have used. Instead, Hasbro changed way too much that didn't have to be changed. I really hope Scarlet and Hawk return somewhere down the road. Ripcord, he's probably better off dead.
