How do you feel about Jon Chu as a director alone? Judging from the trailer, I think that it has the potential to surpass the first. But would you want him to return for a sequel? And would you want him to work on other Hasbro properties such as Transformers, or even other works such as comic book adaptations and video game adaptations?

its a little to early to say if he should return for a sequel or not the movie hasn't even came out yet.

I haven't seen anything that he's made, so I can't say.

Well judging by the trailer, it already looks better than ROC, and I for one am thankful that he is the Captain of the Retaliation ship and not Sommers, but final judgment will be made after watching the film.

havent seen any other of his films that I know of, so judging by the trailer alone the first movie has been surpassed by a few million times or so!

Can he sequel/reboot Transformers so that early on in the movie, the ugly movie-Transformers die and come back looking like the Transformers I grew up with?

A reboot yes, but I don't want, "Blockformers". The Transformers look more realistic as they do right now in the films. I do believe that they could try to make the faces less, "alienish", then the films.

If it means there actually WILL be a third film then hells yeah! The trailer seems to play up a lot of the aspects of the Joeverse that I love, the military aspect, the "team" aspect, the colorful characters (c'mon, Bruce Willis is every bit as believable as Shipwreck, but it wouldn't be the same without him...) and even an attachment to the first film.

The first film really was GI Joe by virtue of a few aspects, overly CGI'd, and uncomfortable with what it was doing. I picked up the "Making of" book and it's an unreadable mess with over-produced graphics and glitz, and text that is nearly impossible to decipher. And that was because it was just like the film.

Jon Chu seems to be part of the next generation of directors who have seen the evil of CGI but also the wisdom of it's employment as a tool, but still fondly remembers hand-made films like Raiders and Predator that were far more compelling than what we have been "treated to" in recent years. I am anticipating big things for this film, and since I make my final payment on a major debt right before the movie comes out I'm planning on spending one hell of a fun weekend toy shopping in preparation for this.

So Jon, if you're reading this man, we've got your back. Just do what feels right and do NOT be afraid to be GI Joe for us.

And if that works who knows, maybe you'll get the director's chair for the big screen "Space Age Jack" movie. Yo Jack!

How bad can it be comparing to the first movie? :D
Maybe this is the key to your answer:

Its too early to tell if he's gonna be welcomeed back or not. If i had to go based SOLELY on what he had done BEFORE Directing GI JOE i would flat out say no. However....I need to see Retaliation before i make a firm decision.
