Lt. Torpedo is an all new sculpt that looks exactly like the original….only much better. Underneath the removable mask, the face looks just like the cartoon Torpedo. The backpack has been updated to have a hose plug into it and each of the two air tanks are removable. The legs have gotten two additions, a knife sheath and pistol holster. The flippers look just like the originals but include extra holes so Lt. Torpedo can wear them while displayed on the stand. The belt and details on the chest are now individually painted unlike the original. Lt. Torpedo comes with a Harpoon Gun, Knife, Pistol, two Flippers, Mask, Backpack, two Air Tanks and a GI Joe Stand.

The original Torpedo figure back in the 80's was the worst looking figure I had ever seen as a kid. He was cool because he was a diver but the droopy looking eyes and odd shaped head killed it for me. Thankfully, the 25th incarnation brought him back with a vengeance!

Figure Rating: 9 out of 10

awesome figure. It seems he is often forgotten in this line. I would have been tempted to give him a 10/10.

This figure is fantastic and he is one of the best at sitting down. I too would have been tempted to give a 10 for this figure.

I agree. He ranks right up there with SE and SS for me. I wasn't a huge fan of Torpedo's, but once I got the figure, it came as a pleasant surprise. I love his mask which magnifies his eyes, like a real diving mask. Definitely 10/10 from me.

I loved this figure as a kid, although we mistakenly used to call him SEAL. It was hilarious to see Torpedo fighting on land alongside the rest of the Joes in his wetsuit and mask.

With no drawbacks, I don't see how this figure couldn't have attained a ten. He's perfect. One of the best in the line.

Great review, as usual.

I always wanted to like Torpedo as a kid, but found it difficult. And airmask on land was silly, so he became very mission specific.

If I needed someone to dive for something, he was called on. And he sometimes operated the Devilfish. Beyond that, he was a background character.

Great update, Hasbro!

Not my favorite figure 25th or Vintage but, an incredible reincarnation.

That's funny we used to call him Seal as well. Great review as always & I would give him a 10/10.

mail-away Doc with the Duke suicide wrists/forearms scores a 10/10 but 25th Torpedo who is leaps and bounds better than his original only gets a 9/10?

Torpedo is a great figure. Always have to give props to Hasbro before they start repainting the heck of the figs (Cobra Diver, etc).

Never had this figure as a kid and he's awesome in my collection now. Though I like the laid back M.A.S.S. Device Torpedo better than what his filecard portays him as a no-nonsense warrior. Loved his sub in the mini-series too. Where can I get one of those.... :)

"Hey Torpedo!"

Great review but I don't agree with the 9/10 you gave to him. It's a 10/10 action figure because of the update Hasbro gave to him with removeable scuba mask, diving tank with removeable cylinders, the ability to pose him with the flippers in the stand and the leg holdsters for the pistol and butterfly knife.

Gah! I have passed on this guy several times... I have my MOSC one in the closet at home, but I don't think I have an "opener" spare... looks like I need to spend $8 and get me a non-25th carded one.

Around here, he was a pegwarmer with Wild Bill, whom I also have yet to open. I think I have a spare Bill somewhere though, but haven't opened him yet, either.

Agreed possibly one of the best figures in the line.

Out of the dozens of figures I've got from the 25th line, this one's definitely in my top 5. I love that he comes with tons of accessories just like Snow Job (same wave I think?) so a solid 10 for me. Cool review, thanks for the pics!

Torpedo and Snow Job represent, in my opinion, what this line is all about. Fantastic updates that improve on the originals in every way possible. Removable masks that make the characters a little bit more versatile, a load of weapons, great accessories. Perfect.

The combination of the droopy face and lack of air hose used to make me wonder if the original Torpedo was considering drowning himself.

Overall, it's an excellent update to a rather lackluster figure.

Anyone else have a problem with the knife being much too loose in the sheath?

i had passed on him thusfar but, now will be picking him up for sure. the close up shots and the overall review sold me on him.

i wanted to get him but, can not get everyone in the entire line all at once...but i saw him just the other day so maybe he will be there still now that i would like to pick him up. knowing the way it goes though...he may be gone now that i have a desire to get him.

nice review thanks!

Geez what dose it take to get a 10/10 around here?

The original sucked because it had a figure like a woman. "Puffy" chest, skinny ankles, pouty eyebrows, etc. This new one is easily one of my favorite figures to date.

I have yet to open Torpedo even though I have had him for over 6 months already. I kept putting him off cuz I didn't have any underwater storylines in mind. After reading the review though I think I finally will and have him battle the underwater Baroness from the DVD pack. Or maybe I'll just wait for the Eels to come out and have a true battle! Eels are so cool!
