A thread dedicated to those Millons of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere....
Nothing but fun memories with this toy line and it was unfortunate that it was so short lived in the U.S. (Unfortunate too that the NES game sucked balls!)
This is like a virtual playground for a toy designer and even writers for back story...wrestling, aliens, overall whacky awesomeness.
I love MUSCLES and I may start collecting again...a small collection just to have a few.
Anyone else?

Yes, I must have had a hundred of these little pink guys! I remember one year, they gave away a free Muscle figure in a container of Nestle Quik and a friend of mine and I went to the Shop-Rite and opened like 50 container and snagged the figures from them.
I'm not proud of it, but yeah, I did it. Now, I feel bad for all those kids that got the Quik but were gypped of their muscle figs.

I had a ton as s a kid as well. I have bought a few here and there over the years so I have a decent collection currently.
My best score was this one time at a thrift store, a bag of twenty of so for a dollar! I love the multicolored ones too.

Don't you disparage that NES game! It was golden!
I rented it SOOOO many times :) Loved the electrified ring matches!
I really wanna find some of the old, small figures. Wouldn't mind getting some of the recent ones from the anime either :)

Really?? You liked that game??
I never cared much for the multi colored figures...there was something special about that 1st wave of peach colored wrestlers all nestled in a clear trash can.
I had that little ring with the joy stick too--man I loved that. I can remember some of the figures not fitting in the little clamp but for the most part I just had full blown royal rumbles with them anyway.

I was thinking along the lines of 10.00 for 5 vintage figures in good shape....this is out of control.

I just pick them up whenever I can find them cheap enough at my LCS or thrift stores.

I didn't have many games and I loved anything wrestling. It was that or Tag Team wrestling by Tecmo - with MUSCLE, I had more options :)

You're onto something there!
I think wrestling in the 80's was incredible. Just very colorful and very electric. Using that platform for a toyline was a great idea--throw in the fact that they were aliens and now you can do whatever you want.
Which I think is why were all here on an 80's toy forum. There really hasnt been another era that had so much depth and color, I mean look at the cartoons alone. There was just no limit to the imagination.
I'm not so sure something like MUSCLES could have made it in another era.....it was just the perfect time to have something where there was no limits on the imagination.

The 80's where amazing. You are right the imagination created in that era was also amazing. All the shows and toylines that where created back then entertained us in a time before cell phones and chat rooms. The creativity on TV with WWF and all of its colorful wrestlers where a big part of the reason why MUSCLE men where so popular.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc184/phillinley/Collection%20photos/THEROOM006Large.jpg
The playset they're in is the kinnikuman arena released in Japan. Only about half of the Kinnikuman figures were released in the United States as MUSCLE's. They were the exact same molds the only difference was that MUSCLE's were made of bendable plastic and Kinnikuman were made of an eraser like substance that stains the crap out of plastic if you let it sit too long.

Hey now, if I had super rares, then you'd have reason to punch me in the chest. I only have the common set. Each standard figure is worth only about 50 cents to a buck (the claw can go for more at times). Certain colors can get a lot more expensive. Super rares however, can sell for $500-$1000. Super rares are Kinnikuman sculpts that were not made in the regular 1-236 set, but have been discovered on very rare occurrences in MUSCLE plastic form. By rare, I mean between 1 and 5 known samples.

The rule of thumb on ebay is spend no more than .75 cents per MUSCLE in a lot. Just take the number of muscle's in a lot and multiply. If it goes much over that average, then likely there is a rare color variant or a satan cross in there. If it goes a huge amount over average, there's probably a super rare.

Something that many people don't know is that a lot of these characters are duplicates of the same guy, just in different forms.
The claw is named Sneagator (literally an aligator shoe cross)
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080409210955/kinnikuman/images/8/83/Sneagator.gif
So the claw and the regular sneagator are the same dude
Same with the pyramid. He's Sunshine, and besides the pyramid he was also made in the form of the arch, the top, the waving version, the statue standing pose, and the black hole sunshine super rare in MUSCLE form.

That is the problem with toy collecting. First and for-most they are TOYS. They are meant to be played with and enjoyed. Taking any toy too serious is just silly and defeats the point of their creation. (just a personal thought)

I need to find and take pictures of more of my things. I only have two, but they are gashapon figures. About 3 inches tall with a plastic torso and the limbs & head are the rubber material. Ones the basic guy in a leotard with the fin on his head , in pink, and the other is Sneagator, I guess, but hes got a frill on his head like a cobra, in orange.I got them from a friend, who grew up in Japan and the Philippines. He had about 20 more, the only one I remember is a barbarian looking guy with an ax.
I also got a bag of Monster in my Pocket. Around 92 I found a whole mess of toys in the dumpster at work and got about 100 of these. I kept the "famousy" type monsters and took the rest shooting. A .22 just leaves a smudge mark on them. They were probably still good, but i just left them there when I was done.

The Series 1 figures are exceptional, they have arcticulation equivelant to Toy Biz Marvel Legends, the Series 2 figures are action feature based but still not bad and have great sculpts for being 8 years old.

Hey All:
I just recently scored a rather large lot of vintage M.U.S.C.L.E. men (big shout to Troynos!), but am still in search of a few select others. If anyone can help me procure these specimens in clean, undamaged and excellent condition, I'd be eternally grateful and make it worth your while. Although the classic "flesh-tone" is preferred, the color of the figure doesn't matter so much as long as its condition meets my specifications prescribed above. Please see my linked b/s/t list in my signature to see what I have to offer forth in trade (cough...Renegades Stormshadow...ah hem...SDCC Zarana...etc.) and if nothing floats your boat not to fret, I've got greenbacks too.
Anyhow, since these guys don't have names and are only numbered, please take a look at the provided link to see which ones I am in search of. I realize this might be asking a lot of the casual passer-by, but for your extra efforts I am willing to compensate you. No matter, I'm looking for the following:

My friend that I got them off of must have glued the torsos together. the pink guy wont come apart, but the cobra guy has a glue smudge on the broken post that holds them together. they came out of the machine ball wadded up, and you put them together. He had a bunch more, I only remember a barbarian looking guy with an ax.
