Scrap-Iron (toy came out in 1984) wasn't used a lot in the cartoon previously, so it kind of surprised me when he got a prominent role in "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!" (1986). Did anybody else think this? While it was nice to see him in there, I think I would have rather have seen Major Bludd in his spot if they were going to use an old figure.

Actually watching this one with my kid right now and was thinking the same thing. Although blood would probably with the mindbender and destroy camp, I was thinking maybe firefly.

I really liked his roll in arise serpantor arise. I've always been kind of disappointed he wasn't used more in the sunbow cartoon. He was one of my favorite figures as a kid. More scrap iron please!

He got a lot of love in the old Marvel Comics run, and he is Destro's main weapons designer.

Being a weapons designer and that being the episode that introduced the b.a.t.s. it made sense, mindbender was busy making the first clone anyhow!

Seeing as how Scrap Iron (at least in those episodes) was a turn coat you could almost see him as becoming part of the iron grenadiers has anyone ever made a custom of this?

That's another one of Sunbows MANY screw ups, he was in the IG, not technically a Cobra agent.

But he was a toy from 1984... way before the concept of iron grenadiers, right? Although he has always worked for destro...

And sludge from the DinoBots, it's all Michael Bell. So it was Kind of like having Major Blood in Arise, only not.

Arise Serpentor Arise was a farce.

If this had been real, then Cobra Commander would have used his loyal body guard Storm Shadow to take down Mindbender and Destro.

Perhaps Firefly could have been used.

Scrap Iron was a turd.

This is news to me. I liked seeing him in a similar role to this in Renegades, but I've never thought of him as an IG.

That whole mini series was just an advertisement for the toy line....which happened to work on me :-)

IF it was real, than Mindbender would have used Storm Shadow's DNA instead of Slaughter's like in the comic. But since the Joes were not invading Springfield, and the Baroness did not shoot Stormy, which allowed Mindbender to use Stormy's DNA to create Serpentor, and thus reviving Stormy, Sunbow went that route.

Me too. I have my Sunbow shelves arranged by seasons, and I always go back and forth between where to place him. Sometimes he's next to Firefly on the Season 1 side (for their role in the opening of "Revenge of Cobra") and often he's with the BATs because of ASA.
