I saw these at B&N today. What exactly are GI Joe Omnibus and Civil War Volume 1?

Omnibus just means that it's alot of volumes of trades put into one big book. Usually it's like 6 volumes. If a typical trade has 4 issues, then an omnibus would be 24 or more.

Along those lines.

Which Joe comic are you talking about with Civil War?

Marvel's ARAH had a Cobra Civil War. DDP had a Civil War.

The last storyline running through the IDW titles was Cobra Civil War, which was 9 issues, 3 from each title.

Omnibus:
Volume 1 - 1st printing. Collects GI Joe (2008-2011IDW) #0-13 and GI Joe Special Helix (2009 IDW). Written by Chuck Dixon and Brian Reed. Art by Robert Atkins, S L Gallant, and Joe Suitor. Cover by Dave Johnson. If knowing is half the battle, then you'd better be sure to get a hold of G.I. JOE Omnibus, Vol. 1 to learn all about IDW's original G.I. JOE tales. With powerhouse Chuck Dixon on writing duties and talented artists like Robert Atkins and S L Gallant on art, the continuing tales of the JOEs discovering and squaring off against COBRA leaps off the page and grabs you by the throat!

Not sure about the Civil War one. There are lotsa CW titles floating around. Do a search at B&N website or mycomicshop (www.mycomicshop.com)

So the Omnibus is the first 13 issues of the IDW series?

The Civil War one looked newer, because it had Scarlet in her new outfit. Plus the artwork was definitely new. But that is what I am trying to figure out. Is it an extension of the old Marvel civil war between Serpentor and CC?

That depends on if it's the IDW Civil War or the DDP Civil War.

IDW is new, in the IDW universe.

Chances are unless it says "classic" or "disavowed" then it's the IDW-verse.

No, I know which ones Classic and Disavowed are, and they are definitely not them. This one said GI Joe vs Cobra: Civil War Volume 1 on the cover or something like that. That was the title, where as the civil war from the Marvel era are in Classic 8 and the DDP one would be in Disavowed 5 (at least, I'm pretty sure it was issues 21-24).

So what was the cover like? It's definately IDWs Silly War, since I don't think the others get advertised as such? Probably collects the first few issues IDWs vol.2 G.I.Joe?

So are the IDW comics any good?

No.

If you don't believe me, I have an IDW comic collection to sell you. :D
The ARAH continuation is quality, though.

So are the IDW comics any good?

They are good once you read them as a whole, many times individual issues are kind of meh but I'm consistently entertained. Cobra for the most part is excellent here, with the exception of Destro...yet. He hasnt been used well since the Gulag incident.
