Wry1-Ripcord WIP

I never post wip pix but...I dunno, just want some feedback before I finalize the piece and proceed with paints. My main concern is where the hell to attach his M4. Sooo many options, I kinda dig it attached to the backpack, but I'm kinda hesitant to pull the trigger, not sure why.

Thoughts?

Oh, I'm a fucktard and the first pic is the only one showing the M72LAW attached, the rest you only see a super awesome pin hole....photo fail.

ha! um...no. i always paint figs with a basecoat of black before i do the final colors. he'll end up with a desert color pallet.

looks great.. so you paint your figures together? i break em down like car parts and set up a tree to hold all the pieces. then put em back together.

generally i break 'em down and paint parts individually, the exception being camo. i personally get better continuity with the camo if i paint the fig complete.

Looks good, but his gear mix is a little off. It looks like he's wearing a round chute with static line, which is for low level jumps. You may want to switch that out with the Cobra Paratrooper chute or the Renegades Ripcord chute. Looking forward to seeing all the details painted.

First off, I was a Parachute Rigger in the Army for 7 years so I know the rigs pretty well unless there have been some serious updates since I got out in 2010(other than the new T-11 "rounds" they have been testing for paratroopers, which is a different than that of a HALO jumper) but I try to keep up with it so I'm pretty damn sure the HALO rigs are still MC-4 or -5s.

Alright here goes...

What you have so far looks great, BUT...as blackrazor1 stated above you have a T-10/MC1-1 static line pack on him and not the MC-4/5 HALO rig that you're wanting. You want to grab the rig from the Cobra Paratrooper(80s 5pk)/25th Ripcord(Cobra Island 7pk)/PoC Crazylegs. The pack(rig) on those are proper MC-4/5 rigs that you want. Also, there is no front mounted reserve on a HALO rig. It's built into the MC-4/5. If the reserve is attached to the front in someway, don't scrap it. It looks good bc it's what everyone is used to with the way Hasbro designed the 1984 and 25th Ripcords but it's not correct. Also, again you don't have to change it if it's attached, the rucksacks for HALO jumpers are normally attached so they are on the backs of their legs so the jumper is more free to move his legs to help change direction in free fall. It also causes the jumper to be more aerodynamic. What you have so far looks more like a NAVY SEAL rig just without the rebreather.

The setup used for the Cobra Paravipers were based off of SEAL rigs since the Paravipers are supposed to be Eels.

The pack from the Renegades Ripcord is one I'm not familiar with and I'm using it for a Ripcord I'm working on since it doesnt have a static line zig zagging across the back, but I'm also not going for 100% accuracy this go around.

Type in HALO parachutes in Google and go to pictures to see a lot of good references, but be careful because NAVY SEAL rigs(you'll notice the rebreather on the front with the ruck) are setup slightly different than ARMY/Air Force HALO rigs.

Take a look here to see a proper setup for the front of a HALO rig with no reserve and the ruck on the back of the legs.

Yeah, no problem man. I have tons of knowledge on parachutes, parachute rigs, loadouts, gear, equipment and supply rigs, etc. I loved jumping and man I really miss it. I'm seriously considering going back just so I can get paid to jump, lol! If you have ANY more questions, please ask!

Man, 99% of customs on here I like, but this I love. A lot of good stuff coming from Tankers lately that I am really loving. Someone did a PoC Shockwave, that was awesome, and now this ultimate Ripcord is just as awesome. They actually go well together looking at them side by side. Shockwave has reinforcements dropping in.

Great Ripcord custom, awesome job, but then again, your customs are all great and some of my favorites (along with Obi Shinobi, Daremo, Cloud Strife, Mermanial, and soooo many others). Cannot wait until its finished, and I hope you do work it out like Airborne said, to make it more accurate.

This is looking great so far. I really look forward to seeing it with camo. My only recommendation would be to fill the wholes on the mask. Either that or potentially trade it out with a different one. Good stuff though.

for sure dude, filled the holes in with epoxy and added a couple details, also swapped out his chute for a more accurate one. just need to get some more paints this weekend and finish him up.

good man, kinda put the piece on hold 'till I get the new 'chute from the client. got some good base paints on though. not entirely accurate by any means, but the 'chute and where his rifle was attached were my main concerns, think I got 'em dialed in.

as soon as the 'chute arrives I'm gonna get back on this project. attach the rifle sling, the backpack straps around his legs, the new 'chute, and finalize the paints.
