I have been absolutely mesmerized by IDW artist Robert Atkin's new design for CC & have been chompin' @ the bit 2 do sumthin' similar 2 his design while still maintainin' a good deal of old school CC elements... this is what I did last night...

Should I drop some of the classic elements & just go all out Atkin's design??? Dual hip holsters & the new CC SDS head???

I think you nailed what you were going for! I would lose or paint the green straps though.

hell I dig it Jeff, you gotta knack for mashing parts, Joe, Cap, Thor, where the shoulder pads and gauntlets from? I ordered that sds head too but I don't think we'll get it intime to meet the deadline. personally I think you might wanna try going a little closer to the IDW design on the mask. to me the vented CC mak is one of the most defining characteristics of the IDW design, with all CC designs for that matter

THNX guys - The entire fig will get repainted (webgear will be black w/ silver hardware)& as far as mashin' parts, U can add StarWars to this list... torso is from a SW Crimson Empire Karnor Jax/Kir Kanos - it has some GREAT armored segments & should really pop w/ a flat black base coat & finished in Mithryl Silver to better tie in w/ the new CC design... oh & BTW Mike, the shoulder armor & gauntlets are from an IronMan Mark2 fig

Man... I've been concentratin' on my health here lately - diabetes, dental work & eye doctor visits + it's a bit cold in my shop Bcause I loaned out 1 of my space heaters 2 my brother-in-law... his furnace decided to quit on him... I REALLY miss workin' on figs...

First, I want to let you know do not be dissuaded if you post and get no replies, sometimes it takes a day or two. Second, your work is great. If I may be critical of one thing, your flesh tone neck is throwing me off. I think my eyes would be more geared towards the chrome mask if your neck were a matching blue or even a black. But I find myself immediately drawn to his fleshy neck. Just my two cents.

Agreed - I plan on givin' the whole thing a repaint (nothin' painted @ this stage)& I might have found an alternate head anyways... I know the fleshtone neck is detracting... it will be a dark blue to match the other cloth parts of the uniform - it ties in more w/ Cobra Troops & Vipers... field commanderesque...
