I just snagged the coolest SW toy I never new existed. The AST-5.
vehicle bio
The AST-5 Armored Sentinel Transport was an atmospheric combat vehicle.
CharacteristicsEdit
The vehicle featured two blaster cannons, each capable of swiveling 360 degrees. The vehicle had a "sentry" mode, an "attack" mode wherein the engine section would rotate to a 90-degree angle with the pilot section, and a "pursuit" mode where the engine section would rotate to a parallel position with the pilot section.
History
Pilots of the AST-5 were known to include the Klaatu and bounty hunter Boba Fett. Jabba's hired enforcers also patrolled Tatooine in Armored Sentinel Transports.

Sentry Mode Huh?

And the real reason I snagged this guy. Sentry AKA Insertion pod/regeneration sarcophagus/repair chamber/the possibilities are endless mode.

I stumbled across it for about ten bucks. Now I think I need to look for a good minature LED tutorial. I have done them on a large scale but nothing small. I really want this internally lit.

I have this somewhere too. Star Wars has a few of these mini rigs which would work in the Joe universe.

Look for surface-mount LEDs on eBay. They are only a couple MMs wide and are completely flat. You can hide them anywhere. It's the kind they use for phone keypads and jewelry.
Here's one I've been watching:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices (http://www.ebay.com/itm/260460063593?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)

How are those powered, and what kind of wiring needs to be done on them?

A ton of those old Star wars mini-rigs really work well even today. The INT-4, the Endor Forest ranger, MLC-3, CAP-2 (that was my vehicle for Bossk when i was a kid). Some of the more recent small vehicles Hasbro is pumping out lately do a nice job of carrying on that tradition, too, like the y-Wing bomber.

They made a few mini ships for the Star Wars line that were real nice. My favorite was the mini Imperial Shuttle ship.

Ditto. It was a fun little ship. I also had the one that looked like a midget Imperial Shuttle.

By far my favorite mini rig. I'm not even sure if I still have it. It got a LOT of play time when I was a kid.
