So the Hub has been airing sunbow season 1 for a year now and soon will be moving on to season 2. How would you react if the Hub with little to no heads up starting airing a season 3 continuation of ARAH with slightly upgraded animation? Like, boom here's the season three you were waiting for as a child but never came. How would you react and what changes do you think would need to be made for it to succeed but still keep the feel and continuity of the original cartoon series?

That would be awesome. I watched the G.I. Joe Animated Movie yesterday and thought the same thing. Although I could do without the Cobra la la la la la la bit. LOL! I would totally watch it though. Hey, and since CC was turned into a snake we could get a new CC and see Duke get outta the "coma" he was in.

I would love it, of course, if Hasbro/The Hub experimented with a GIJOE mini-series that was, basically, a sequel to the 1987 movie (making DiC, which I don't detest and plan utterly to purchase when it is released on DVD an alternate universe type-thing) and featured 1987 characters and vehicles, particularly those not revealed in the film, like Psyche-Out, Fast Draw, Big Boa, Raptor and Croc Master.

Sadly, I doubt there's enough of a market for such a nostalgic endeavor, though. Even if it was a mini-series/movie and not a full season. And then there's the Sgt. Slaughter copyright issue, I imagine.

Great idea. That would be a great mini series especially if the animation was updated to say a Resolute style. I also think that the Ol' SGT Slaughter would be a part of it since he was at SDCC supporting Joe.

Yo' Joe!

Never happen. The whole point of the show was to sell that year's toy releases. If Hasbro were to go back to a Sunbow style show (and that would be sweet) it would be with PoC, 30th, or all new figures for this year.

Hasbro is full aware that we want Sunbow (even DiC) characters with updated animation and story and writing. Hopefully with Renegades they realized that if they can get a following from THAT incarnation that they are guaranteed at least that much of a following for an ARAH-styled cartoon done right. Maybe they should tap into the IDW talent to write cartoons as well.

I'd be fine with it, if it aired at a reasonable time on the Hub like, say, 8-930 PM, not all this 1130PM, 5AM crap.

I would be happy if they used modern designs for the show as long as it kept the ARAH continuity. Example... Duke comes back from his coma and is suddenly in whatever outfit his current toy is wearing. I see no harm in skipping stuff. And for the particularly awesome stuff they should just make updated figures of that.

That would be totally wicked!!!

To paraphrase from one of my favorite movies...

Anyway, I'd love to see something like that happen, but what are the chances? Hasbro seems content to change anything about "ARAH" G.I. Joe they want, so I can't see them pushing something that honors the original ideas so much.

ARAH with slightly upgraded animation?

Lots of new toons are moving away from jagged polygon designs. I think Avengers, Young Justice, and Iron Man (I believe) has toons that were less polygony than previous incarnations. Great example is the very jagged Justice League Unlimited vs. Young Justice. The latter being less jagged / polygony. So it would be interesting to see the new Joe toon follow this recent trend, away from polygons. Thus, no new to upgrade, yet maybe go back even closer to the the Sunbow style.

they have to pretend the movie was just a bad dream and take it from there. that would be awesome.

How would you react...kept the feel and continuity of the original cartoon series?

Many will react in the same, very positive manner, to that of the sequel trailers. Of which is closer to the original feel (Cobra Cmdr's reflective mask, more vibrant colors, etc). In fact, the sequel trailer nearly has 40,000 "likes" nearly twice that of the 20,000 members of the 'Tank. Positive reaction to the original feel (via the new sequel) is felt beyond the fanbase, which should say something, about what to do with the next "new" toon...

I was pretty psyched when I saw the Season 2 episodes on the past couple of nights. I really enjoyed those more than season 1.

As for them continuing the series? I didn't mind the renegades animation. I am not a fan of the latest style of cartoons and I don't know what its called. its like semi Japanime with cgi mixed in.

Also Hub needs to have these on earlier in the evening. 12:30am is not a great time for me at least. I get halfway through an episodezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

YEEESSS!! Let's get a NEW Sunbow cartoon going! It's what WE ALL WANT! My kids didn't like Renegades and neither did I. Charlie Brown GI Joes just aren't cool. Sunbow GI JOE is what made the toy product what was in the 80's and what it is now. It's why you can't find any of the Anniversary figures on shelves. It's what we want....it's what our kids want! Wise up HASBRO! I guarantee you GI JOE would dominate to toy aisle once again if they had a great cartoon! And you have your own network Hasbro?!?!? And what's with putting on the classic sunbow cartoons on in the middle of the night when no kids can watch them?

I believe the initial plan was to air the episodes in the afternoon, but some fans whined about wanting them to air later at night, in an Adult Swim type of block, so that's what The Hub did.

A well written Joe series would be a dream come true. It sucked that Rengades was predictable. A Joe cartoon with animation like the last few DC comics movies and Young Justice would rock:)
Or a series in a style like BatMan TAS--which I hoped I would see since I was about 15yrs old--would be cool.
Bruce Timm and Paul Dini behind it could be the ultimate Joe cartoon series.
They were ,scratch that, they are great at taking a comic arc and transferring it to animated form flawlessly.
I sincerely hope Joe toons are on the way and they are fun.

It would be neat to see Hasbro experiment with a DTV DVD style G.I.Joe animated movie in the same manner that DC Comics and Marvel do with their animated movies.

I think I would faint! I am sure everyone knows this but it sure would be interesting as it would be way different than what DIC gave us. not sure how I would feel though to see cobra commander gone:( but it sure would be interesting to see who the new leader would be and if we would see overload?

GI Joe needs a cartoon, period.

Toys are cool, and comics are too, and a live-action movie could be - but a cartoon should be the most critical part of the whole damn thing.
