Shalom
How many of you collected the Joe's from this period ,i bought some of my last figures from the 91' collection ,but my interest was pretty much gone by this point ,i felt they were getting too bizarre with all of those neon colours ,and ridiculous oversized weapons ,the line beared little resemblence to the Joe's from the early years i can see why it got cancelled in 1994 .
Wasn't there aliens or some sort of giant "robot" by this point too ?
Did any of you like these figures ,if so which ones were they ?

many of the molds are equal too if not superior than the molds released in the 84-91 period. check out some of the con sets to see what good repaints can do for some molds...here's looking at you blanka.

I bought my last Joe figure about 17 years ago ,and i feel the break was a good thing ,because over time i have grown to appreciate the figures more .
If anything i wanted to thank Hasbro for releasing these awful figures ,because it made me become interested in other things in life ;)

hahaha holy crap thats exactly what i did!
i had a sweet powerlite i build piece by piece. i miss that bike. now i have a 2003 free agent speedway. its alright but man i miss those powerlite bars.
anyway... it would be fun if hasbro did a toxo-viper just for the heck of it haha
kinda like the matt trakker figure in wave 10.
it would be worth hearing all the jokes from the other vipers in the locker room. mostly about batteries, mistaking him for sunrise, etc....

I made it all the way to the 15th anniversary and said a giant WTF?@!#$ to The GI JOE VS COBRA Valor VS Venom line.
And it only got worse when smegma six came out.
thank god for the 25th and the secondary market(for vintage joes)!

Stopped asking for Joes for my B-day and XMas in '88. I had a few friends who still got a few figures in '89 but I had already moved on to playing baseball and football and skateboarding by then and I thought toys were "uncool" and "for kids" (hey, I was 11)! If I had been born in 1983 or 1984 maybe I would have been into Joes in those later years ('92-'94), though. I really think it just comes down to age and "growing up" back then. My older brother was into GI Joe in 1982 but by 1985 he was already 11 and just lost interest in toys. It happened to most of us I would assume.
BTW, it's funny how I "grew up" and then when I hit the age of 24 I became a kid at heart and starting buying toys all over again.

I stopped at 92 because i was just didnt like all that neon and too many weapons and missile launchers and even the catalogs turned me off. I just been picking up a few things that i like from 92 93 and 94. Its cheap and not much. But i do like the eco warriors and def and just the monsters form mega marines just because they would make a good dr mindbender's monter lab.
But now were back to old school.

sorry if I got a bit carried away!
91-94 were the golden years for me.
there are two types of people.
1. people who think eco force flint, ninja force storm shadow, sonic fighters tunnel rat, DEF shockwave, ice cream soldier, mega marines blast off, super sonic fighters psyche-out and space pilot sci-fi are awesome.
2. terrorists. get out of my country

Figure wise, the toys leaned towards spring launched missles, and eventually, less articulation in favor of spring loaded gimmicks, or built in gunarms.
There were some interesting designs, some of which got lackluster toys. Good examples of this are Ninja Force Slice, Dice, Nunchuk, Banzai, and Storm Shadow. Ninja Force Storm Shadow had the best costume design of any Storm Shadow up until that point, but the worst Storm Shadow figure.
The neon was a big turn off, as was the decrease in articulation for action attack or built in missle launchers like on the armored Space Brigade figures.
Some saw the end coming from the onset, however it was a slow death. Sadly, by 1993, some of the best vehicles were coming out in the Battle Corps line but were largely overlooked by collectors, myself included. Man...in 93..I knew I should have passed over those damn armored Space Brigade bricks and gotten a Ghoststriker X-16 instead!
DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
91 Snake Eyes was quite awesome too.

Ice Cream Soldier was an homage to an existing military property (I think it was Sgt. Rock...). So, on that level, it works.
As for the figures from '91-'94, many are excellently done and are easily on par with any figures from earlier years. Some who suffer from bad colors (such as the aforementioned ICS) are still great molds that, with the right colors, have been the highlights of the recent releases.

thats the exact reason why I stopped collecting them, but this new 25th line I just love! and thats why I'm back!

Well, the Ninja Force action figures have no waist articulation because they have some sort of battle-matic action.
I've come to appreciate the 1990's COBRAs more as time has gone by. I even have a shelf for them now. Firefly V3 and Talking COBRA Commander (sans backpack) have become some of my favorite COBRAs). Omit some of the more garish orange and turquoise soldiers from the ranks and the primary reds, blues, yellows and purples don't look that bad.
Crank up that Ace of Base and Hootie & The Blowfish and behold:
COBRA in the Nineties!!! (Cartoon Baroness looks great with them, don't you agree?)

I held out until the following year... but 1991 was probably the last year of the original line when they turned out figures i had any real interest in.

i was born in '84, so i knew these figures more than tha earlier ones, i still like quite a few figures from these years and have several in my collection and plan on getting more. but there were some crazy sets out there:
ninja force
mega marines
star brigade
dino hunters
i threw tha ninja force on there, i love ninja but i hated that damn ninja action crap, which meant no o-ring and limited articulation

mega marines were pretty cool. There were a few BattleCorps figures I liked as well. Really liked Viper, Flint, Beachhead, Metalhead, Headhunter Stormtroopers, and Ice Cream Soldier. Toxo and Sludge Vipers were not to bad either

For a about a year during this time, I had gotten out of Joe due to family pressure and the fact that I was going into high school. Thanks to a grammer school friend I got back into them and also got my first job around this time. So I bought a bunch of them. I recently brought out some Mega Monster for some shots on Joedios:

That was the main time I was collecting Joes and I didnt mind the neon. I was roughly 10 in 1991 and neon was everything back then, so why not the toys I played with? Mega Marines were awesome, the main turn offs I had with the sublines were price. Man I'd kill for those $5 price tags now.

I started "collecting" in 92 so these are the ones I remember buying the most. They really had a lot of good figures from 91-94 mixed in with some really bad paint jobs. A lot of my favorite ( go tos) Joes are from this time. I still love the 91 Snake Eyes and the 93 Alley Viper is my favorite of the whole Joe line. Others that are worth getting are Headhunters, Headhunter Stormtroopers, 92 Duke, Flak Vipers, Air Devil, Night Creeper Leader, Firefly and I think Ninja Zartan is awesome..I use him as another character but its just a great looking figure. And Cobra Commander in black and silver is still the best version ever.
The vehicles from 91-94 would be the biggest letdown. there are still a few cool ones but they really seemed to be getting away from vehicles at this time. Ghoststriker, Armour Bot, Shark 9000, Monster Blaster APC, Ice Snake and Mudbuster were the only worthy ones to get IMO.

1990 was my favorite Joe year, 1991 was really solid as well as 1992. 1993 had some good offerings but was littered with dozens of terrible repaints. The subsets were all pretty awesome: Air Commandos, Eco Warriors, DEF...all good shit!
Some of my most definitive figures came from these years like Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Wet Suit, Lifeline, and Stalker!
